I guess I'm in minority who would prefer the LG.G.R. I tried the 360 at Best Buy and it felt like a simple disk on my wrist; I didn't feel anything elegant about it. The LG.G.R might not be "elegant" but it does look like a real watch. I think I can wear that watch without having to worry about banging it up and that its important to me; for running, hiking, biking etc...
everything you mentioned can be remotely ran by android apps. Android wear forces android apps to run, so your answer is yes. Technically your android watch can do those things, or at least control a device that can do those things.
Android Aquaponics ^ Mate, you missed the sarcasm in my comment. I know what Android is capable of. Thing is, Android wear currently acts as a mule, and a bad one at that cos it has to be charged everyday. The day it becomes a standalone device and not dependent on its mother phone, and has atleast a week long standby, it'll make a lot more sense. And no, it still cannot divert bullets. xD
if the HTC EVO 3D saved someone's life by catching a bullet, im pretty sure the moto 360 and LG G watch R is capable of this as well. PROVE ME WRONG GUYS, SHOW ME A VIDEO OF A MOTO 360 SHOT.
I just got the Moto 360 and don't mind the "flat tire" at the bottom. If you use a black watch face, which I do, you don't notice it. Having the Black bar there means a larger screen (to house electronics) and ambient light sensor. The screen adjusts it's self well, while the G doesn't. Having a very thin bezel is also really pleasing. To me the 360 looks classy and the band is excellent. I also don't mind the battery life on my 360, which I think would go 18 to 20 hours for me. I have no desire to wear it to bed and the charger is really cool, turning it into a bedside clock. It charges fast so if I ever needed it to wake me up silently I would just charge it quickly before bed and it would last thru the night. Overall I'm extremely happy with the watch. It's much more useful than I thought it would be. I've already used the GPS and being able to look at the map on my wrist while I drive is awesome. I get my alerts and reminders much more efficiently than before and I like being able to control everything from my wrist. So happy with it. Any questions? Just ask.
Great Review Micheal, I have a 360 (Gray leather) and its awesome. I think as you said it boils down to taste, Classy vs Sporty. I believe however if you need a proper all purpose watch the 360 is the choice as it is also sporty enough. Anyone who owns a smart watch knows that to get the best out of the health tracking apps (steps, heart rate, fitness) its best you stick with the same watch. One watch rules them all, and that's the 360. I also have a LG G watch and I've never worn it again since I bought the 360. It literally pales in comparison (the LG G watch however feels better on the wrist while jogging). I"m a tech enthusiast and I spend lots of money on gadgets however, I have no desire to get the G Watch R.
Not sure why people complain about the Watch R bezels. I feel like those complaining are non watch people to begin with. G-shocks sell very well and are nice watches. Their bezels are often much wider than the G Watch R's, but no one complains about it. In my opinion, the G Watch R looks like a smart watch that would be made by g-shock. I hope g-shock does decide to eventually make a full digital smart watch with a classic g-shock rugged design.
So many moto 360 fanboys it's ridiculous, let's just be honest all the people saying they would take the motor 360 are pissed because they bought it not too long ago and the G watch R is literally better all around besides the fact at the screen is smaller , battery life is a big thing for me and did you watch our seems to do this best so far out of all Android wear watches.
I personally like the 360 better. It's not about the specs, it's about the design. The G Watch R is clunky, big, and has a smaller screen. It doesn't stand out as much. The 360 looks very modern and slightly futuristic. It causes heads to turn and people notice it. The G Watch R just doesn't do that.
I lke the G watch R but there are battles that the moto 360 will win hands down. It's clearly an unisex design (yep, women also like technology) It's more elegant, and the ecosystem built around Motorola connect is clearly more efficient, and I'm almost sure that Motorola will give better support for the moto 360, than lg with the Watch R
***** Thanks for knowing that bro I actually got the LG as you watch our two days ago and I'm quite satisfied with the battery life one day at full brightness on 6 this thing didn't even hesitate to pump out 24 hours with ambient mode on, since then I have bumped it down to brightness setting of one to test it out and see how much you would get and it's sucking up battery a lot less quickly. Overall I am very happy with allergies you watch are and I'm pretty sure I would not have been happy with the Motorola 360 battery life. I'm not going to lie going in to look at the new watches that are available for Android where I bought the Motorola 360 looks pretty good where the screen was turned off, but when I turn the screen on that flat tire and the constant fear of battery life definitely turned me away and I immediately bought the LG G watch R. But after seeing how awesome the LG G watch our does ambient mode and still gets great battery life there is no possible way I want to go get a modded 360 sorry. Just another side note after I got the LG G watch R on my wrist and select the right watch face I'd still rather take this over there moto 360 looks wise just saying, also within my first hour of only the watch I got several compliments on it which also was a plus lol

The one thing that makes the moto360 completely useless in my opinion is the fact that the screen cant be on all the time. there's only one criteria that i need any watch to fulfill, and that is tell me the time whenever I look at it. If it cant do that, it's useless to me.
There's actually a sensor in the watch that knows when you lift it to your face to read the time, so with that feature there's really no need to have the watch face on 24/7.

slicknick29 yep, but I dont usually raise my watch to the face when checking the time.
No, but from the reviews I've seen people have said it doesn't actually have to be raised to your face. But then again I haven't actually used it myself, so I wouldn't personally know.
Awesome Pocketnow.. your reviews are consistent and always focuses on experience and not stupid specs in paper. Another good thing is you don't hesitate to bring out negatives in comparison even if you have rated that product in previous reviews. I find many stuck-up just because they rated it high in their previous reviews. BTW, what do you guys think of Apple Watch?
This is helpful. I am having a really hard time deciding between the two. I keep putting the 360 in my cart, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I think I would like the G watch R better without the bezel and the numbers/markings since those won't look good with every watch face. Maybe if I wait long enough the next competitor will win me over.
Wow these reviews are getting better every day! Its been almost 3 years since i have been following pocketnow and it hasnt been better than this. I miss Taylor Martin though and his hair lol
The moto 360 looks absolutely awful with that bar at the bottom, it's laggy, the battery life sucks, and the screen is really bad. I don't get why anyone would buy this over the G watch R.
***** The cpu motorola uses is not old at all, its the same cpu that powers the Moto g, its just a budget chip. They claim in this video that motorola improved the battery life with a software update. If the battery is still bad its mostly due to the battery size. However I completely agree that they should use OLED. It does need to be a standard for smartwatches.
Seth Rushton I do like the moto 360, but it does use a processor from 2010, the OMAP 3, which is power hungry. The moto g uses a snapdragon 400, which is a lot newer, and power conserving. It does still have a worse battery, and processor, but I'd charge it at the end of the day anyway to it doesn't matter, just put it there at night. Plus to Edward Martinez, looks are opinion based, and as a watch I think it does an amazing job.
I am very happy with my G Watch R. Have it for about 2 weeks right now and just like it. Good battery performance - I use it all day with ambient light and have plenty of energy to go (20%+) when putting it down at night.
LG G WATCH R PROS: Fully round screen Ambient screen function works 100% like it should Snapdragon processor Fine Display Resolution LG G WATCH R CONS: Smaller screen size than the Moto 360 Large bezel and casing Not the most comfortable watch on the wrist MOTOROLA MOTO 360 PROS: No bezel on the display Larger display than the GWR Made from higher quality leather (changed mine to metal band anyways) Qi Wireless Charger Ambient Light Sensor ( it knows when the rooms dark to adjust automatically) MOTOROLA MOTO 360 CONS: Bad processor (TI OMAP 3) Flat tire ( Not fully round) Known Defects ( cracking on the back of the watch from wrist)
I think the OLED will be the ultimate decider for me, I like having a watch that shows me the time whatever that time might be instead of needing to rely on accelerometers
***** To detect motion with a gyroscope you would need to calculate the acceleration of the gyro sensor which would be tedious due to the fact that the accelerometer already does that
I got the GWR purely on the price ($99 at a ATT store). Then again, this is my first Android Wear device, so I'll be upgrading from it when better devices come out. (and in my 2 weeks of having the watch, no one blinked an eye as to what was on my wrist - everyone thought it was a standard wristwatch, until I started swiping at its screen a little too much).
Good one Michele. Both watches are nice as per my opinion. Same like Moto 360, LG G watch R has its own style and elegance. I got LG one and I like the look of it. I am not a person who likes to wear chunky sport watches and have got an average wrist. But I like wearing it most times though there are times (Only few times) when I feel like Moto 360 would have much suited me because of its classic look. So I would say, think about what kind of person you are and what dress style you like most, then decide accordingly. Both watches are great looking and its all about individual preferences and style.

Excellent comparison video! It make me finally subscribe to Pocketnow channel. I'll go with the 360, the 2 things I like the most is minimalism and customization. Thank you Michael!
Thank you! This is exactly what I needed! Now that I KNOW the Moto 360's software updates keep it well in the race that's definitely the watch I would choose.
I currently have the original Pebble and am keeping my eyes open for a good Android Wear smart watch, but the problem is durability. I work in a metal machine shop and while my Pebble is normally not in the way, there are times when our does accidentally get slammed into a big sheet of metal, either from the side or right on its face. There are times when I am thinking "I just totally smashed my display.... I had to of." Then I roll up my sleeve and there isn't a scratch on it. I feel the moto 360 would just be asking to get destroyed in that environment. But the G Watch R's display is inset and surrounded by thicker steel. So it seems that this might be the Android Wear watch I've been waiting for. Looking forward to the full review.
i am bond... James bond and i approve of the moto 360 after testing it for 3 months the software update was so good i moved from a 9 hour battery cycle to 1.5 days easily i'm satisfied with my wearable and it is not laggy as many would want u to think sure it stutters ever so rarely but it does not diminish the experience
On my wishlist, but I'm holding out for when the OS takes a leap forward. But looking at the two, I favor the minimalist look of the Moto 360 as it can be worn dressed up or dressed down. I also like the face being the silver SS as you can swap out wrist bands between brown and black to match what you're wearing.
I like the higher res screen on the LG G watch, but I am just in love with the design of the Moto 360. And on a watch, That is kinda the most important thing.
Bought the G Watch R a few days ago. The 360's missing bottom of the screen was really a dealbreaker for me. I also prefer the G watch R because it looks more like a regular watch, including the watchfaces so it will go slightly unnoticed until you pick it up to read some notifications, and only then people will go "wow, I didn't even notice!".
I guess I'm a Bear Grylls kinda guy because I went with the LG G Watch R. Also the customization argument is invalid because I found a third party app on the PlayStore( one of meny ) where I can make my own watch faces. I much prefer that because I can create them from scratch.
Question I see that both watches record your steps. Is it possible for it to track your running? Like distance and time? Or do I need a Garmin device? Thanks.
If I could buy both smartwatches, I would definitely! But as a current owner of a G Watch R, I'm pretty satisfied with what I have. Both designs have character with the 360 being elegant and the G Watch R being rugged and masculine. Though I would have bought the 360 if it weren't for its scarce availability, the G Watch is still a solid smartwatch. I wish the software would be more polished still...
First of all nice video. Keep up the good work. I would be glad if you could answer my 2 queries. 1. Does this watch have speaker? 2. If no speaker then when you answer the call will the phone speaker gets on? Because Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 has a speaker and along with 2mp camera and it was launched an year ago. If the major speaker is not there in these then what is the point of spending so much on these watches
I can only say about the GWR that I'm not a fan of the look but I can see how someone else may like the look. That being said. The 360 is an awesome head turner and the "flat tire" doesn't stand out as much as haters would like it to. You can't dis what you don't own and have not experienced. 360 is the bomb. Haters are gonna hate.
Very tastefully done. No bad mouthing of either style. Thank you for treating me like I have a brain while giving your opinion (unlike some reviewers).
I wish the Moto, instead of having the bar at the bottom, make the display a little tinier and have the sensor be a ring around the display. I'm not sure how it would change the device if at all, but just a thought.
I have given this decision probably more thought and consideration than it deserved and these two watches were my finalists. I want a round face. I am a product of the 70's were "square digital watches were the geeky norm. I am a grown man and do not want to revisit the square watch scene. I like the look of both but feel the G Watch R wins for manliness. Also very important to me was that when I'm wearing the watch it still looks like a real watch vs. the Moto, whose screen is so dim it is not even worth displaying, it just uses battery life -- the G Watch R's ambient display makes the watch look like a watch to others. Nit picky I know , but when some salesman showed me his new Samsung smartwatch all I saw was a blank screen on his wrist until he woke it up. I don't want a blank screen on my arm. After the novelty of using the smartwatch features constantly wears off I want a watch on my wrist. The LG fits that bill. The clincher was the oled screen for the vividness. I like it and I hear it's very impressive to others as well. Finally with all this talk about battery life in the Moto 360 being "better" now due to updates, they are still playing catch-up to the LG watch. My choice is obviously the LG G Watch R, but only by slim margins and aesthetics.
not shure if already stated, but the wirst bands of the R watch are standard size and can be replaced with almost every wrist band there is on the watch market. I am not sure if the moto 360 features the same
love the black Moto 360, looks much more like a real watch to other people than you might think while the Moto 360 is my preferable design by far I really hate what they've done with the GWR because it would have made more sense to give it more rugged/outdoors features like IP68, GPS, or even just make that chronograph useful for something
Shashwat Punjabi I am sorry but this is one of the worst articles about the G Watch R/360. The design is subjective, not objective. TBH, I don't really like the design of the 360. If I would write a review about it, I don't say: Don't get this watch! It looks bad! The design is your own opinion.
I have the moto 360. Didn't think the smart watch would be as useful as it has been, my phone's battery lasts so much longer because I am not turning the screen on to check notifications anymore, I just get them on my watch and open them on my phone if they are important.
Though both are very dated at this point, I've recently purchased both on eBay. I really like them both gotta give the lg a bit of an edge with wear 2.0.
I like the more rugged black and thick bezel of the G Watch R. It gives it a, powerful look. Motorola did a very good job in looking very professional, and sleek, but in a watch, I like it being rugged. Nothing against Motorola, very nice watch, but the G Watch R is what I want on my wrist.
Have the 360 and love it, but despite being on the latest firmware I still cant get through a full day without having to charge it. I installed a stock face yesterday, pretty much left it alone and had approx 25 notifications all day and it was still sucking about 8-9% battery per hour. So this one is going back to Motorola and I'm going to give the G Watch R a try. One of the main advantages being that you can actually get hold of one pretty easily here in the UK. I can cope with charging every night, but I don't want to be worrying about running out of power by late afternoon :-(
the flat tire isnt that bad, it makes the text line straight. Moto looks more slick, fits perfectly around the wrist, better charger, all these specs are unnoticeable. so picking the watch should be based on what looks better and feels better.
Michael Fisher reviews really really well. I'm always amazed with how he plays with words in his videos.
Indeed.
He's a much better reviewer than MKBHD, the gap is so big it's not even funny.
G Watch R for me.
I guess I'm Bond... James Bond Jr.
I don't drink piss, but I do like a sporty looking watch.
Tough, but I think I like the Moto.
I prefer the moto 360 for the bigger screen size.
I prefer the Lg G Watch R for performance and battery life.. ⌚🔝
I guess I'm in minority who would prefer the LG.G.R. I tried the 360 at Best Buy and it felt like a simple disk on my wrist; I didn't feel anything elegant about it. Does it have radioactivity meter, remote detonator or precision laser beam to cut metal? Can it divert bullets? If not, Bond wouldn't be interested.
Haha, a geiger-meter would be kinda dope, but unless you live close yo Pripyat, you would probably never need it!

Caayotee galaxy gear s maybe? Sigh 😧
I must say this is an absolutely fantastic comparison. Really well put together.
Hmmm...interesting comparison. Still leaning on the side of the G-Watch R though

***** whatever floats your boat.
Shashwat Punjabi read it,didnt change my mind. Thanks for trying though.
***** it's not ugly. It's fresh
You don't notice it once you start using it.
thatguy4142 the bezel it the bar
npillai856 do check out the website and spread the word about it
I just placed my order for the black 360 with metal band today after much research. I'm super stoked
when i click on a PN review/video and hear Micheal Fisher's voice, I'm like whew, it's going to be a good video..

Just received shipping confirmation for Moto 360 black with black metal band. Will arrive Nov 17 or 18. Can hardly wait! Ordered Nov 7.

Thanks for the review. Was hoping to find someone who had done this in detail, and you provided me everything I needed to know. 360, here I come!
Wow, that metal wristband for the 360 makes this thing look really awesome.
Great review and comparison. Hope you can also make a hands-on review about the block modular smartwatch. Thanks!
LG G WATCH R PROS:
Fully round screen
Ambient screen function works 100% like it should
Snapdragon processor
Fine Display Resolution
LG G WATCH R CONS:
Smaller screen size than the Moto 360
Large bezel and casing
Not the most comfortable watch on the wrist
MOTOROLA MOTO 360 PROS:
No bezel on the display
Larger display than the GWR
Made from higher quality leather (changed mine to metal band anyways)
Qi Wireless Charger
Ambient Light Sensor ( it knows when the rooms dark to adjust automatically)
MOTOROLA MOTO 360 CONS:
Bad processor (TI OMAP 3)
Flat tire ( Not fully round)
Known Defects ( cracking on the back of the watch from wrist)

Comparing the Moto 360 and the Gear 2 is something I think we all want too see.
Great comparison as always!
Question. Can you customize the dial color on the LG?
Good one Michele. Both watches are nice as per my opinion. Same like Moto 360, LG G watch R has its own style and elegance. I got LG one and I like the look of it.
I have used both before and both are great, but i think i like the ruggedized look of the g watch r, as you put it, a bit more.
i am bond...
This is why I am subscribed to this channel, thank you Michael Fisher.
Very well rounded comparison
One thing I hate on the 360 is there is a random black bar at the bottom. WHY??
I like the higher res screen on the LG G watch, but I am just in love with the design of the Moto 360. And on a watch, That is kinda the most important thing.
Bought the G Watch R a few days ago. The 360's missing bottom of the screen was really a dealbreaker for me. I also prefer the G watch R because it looks more like a regular watch, including the watchfaces so it will go slightly unnoticed until you pick it up to read some notifications, and only then people will go "wow, I didn't even notice!".
Great video, will you be reviewing the HP Michael Bastian smartwatch?
This definitely had many good points, good job.
I remember when lots of ipod nanos got recalled and i got a square one and bought a watch strap for it. Ah, the good ol' days
I guess I'm a Bear Grylls kinda guy because I went with the LG G Watch R. Also the customization argument is invalid because I found a third party app on the PlayStore( one of meny ) where I can make my own watch faces. I much prefer that because I can create them from scratch.
I'll choose Moto360
i also wish there was a more elegant version to the watch r
I actually chose the LG g watch r mainly because it came to Norway before the moto 360.
I have had the LG for about one and a half day, I love it!
Even after Michael's Review i still cant decide which watch to get :( .. Didn't even think this was possible.
Great comparison. I think I will get the 360, but am waiting to see if Google has any deals come black Friday.
I was sold on the 360 at first, but now I think the G watch is the one for me!!
I bought the moto 360 and I love it. I like when people stop me and ask me questions about my watch.
Very tastefully done. No bad mouthing of either style. Thank you for treating me like I have a brain while giving your opinion (unlike some reviewers).
What watch face app were you using on the 360 in the video
I wish the Moto, instead of having the bar at the bottom, make the display a little tinier and have the sensor be a ring around the display. I'm not sure how it would change the device if at all, but just a thought.
I have ordered a G Watch R. So thats my pick. But I have to say that I also very much like the look of the 360.
I love the modern look to my moto 360, it's a head turner. Yes the G watch looks like a normal watch, a large normal watch. To each their own!
A Middle-ground of Both would be perfect!
I want both. Absolutely in love with both of them. But, they're very expensive in my country. I can't buy any.
I want both of them just ***** said. Moto 360 for an elegant dinner and the LG G Watch R for a robust weekend of hiking.
not shure if already stated, but the wirst bands of the R watch are standard size and can be replaced with almost every wrist band there is on the watch market. I am not sure if the moto 360 features the same
My name is Bond. James Bond. I can actually picture myself saying this while holding a martini in my left (watch) hand :P
Ledio Pëllumbi hey james blond
very informative. great video.
Cool video. Thanks a lot!
prices?
I have a Moto 360 and love it. Will probable get the LG R sometime down the road as well. Both nice...
I'd pick the LG. I prefer the Rugged look and feel. Plus for an adventure lover, I think its the perfect companion. :) Nice Review!
love the black Moto 360, looks much more like a real watch to other people than you might think
while the Moto 360 is my preferable design by far I really hate what they've done with the GWR because it would have made more sense to give it more rugged/outdoors features like IP68, GPS, or even just make that chronograph useful for something
I plan on getting the moto 360. Waiting until the steel bands come out for it
I love the minimal look of the moto 360 and the new champagne gold one that will be coming soon.
I would go with the G Watch!
You shouldn't here's the reason why:www.droidfanboy.com/moto360vslggwatchr/
***** thank you for reading this article I wrote it, be sure to check out the website and spread it
Shashwat Punjabi I am sorry but this is one of the worst articles about the G Watch R/360. The design is subjective, not objective. TBH, I don't really like the design of the 360. If I would write a review about it, I don't say: Don't get this watch! It looks bad! The design is your own opinion.
Lukas Bonny thank you for your opinion and do check out the website
Moto 360! The charts dont lie either. Moto360 is the most popular and most owned Android wear smart watch.
I would pick the 360. Love the look and style of it.
What Illuminator watchface is that on the LG G Watch R? I would like to try it...
do you have to have a certain version of android on your phone for it to work?
one of the best reviews ever...
I have the moto 360. Didn't think the smart watch would be as useful as it has been, my phone's battery lasts so much longer because I am not turning the screen on to check notifications anymore, I just get them on my watch and open them on my phone if they are important.
Which watch face is he using on the LG G Watch R? It looks so cool...
I've had the 360 but I gave it to my dad and now I'm deciding weather to get it again or the watch r... P oled vs bigger screen
Though both are very dated at this point, I've recently purchased both on eBay. I really like them both gotta give the lg a bit of an edge with wear 2.0.
What are you thoughts on the Kairos? I would love to see a review on that watch.
The 360 is just too beautiful. And the updates are very welcome!
What about the droid turbo review? The 1st week of november is going to finish soon :(
We're down one Taylor, so we're in a bit of a crunch here. Forgive the unavoidable delays. Early next week! ^M
Pocketnow Just wondering, are you guys planning to start filming in 60 Fps soon?
Ok, no problem! :)
portjon97 60fps would be an absolute waste of space for reviews as there's not a whole lot of motion going on.
ftpaddict It would still be smoother, though.
I'm waiting for the smart watch that appeals to the Chuck Noris authentic.
I got a 360 and it's actually a pretty solid watch. IMO, you can't go wrong with either one.
Do both of these work with phones like LG G4 and Samsung Galaxy S6, and are they worth the money?
Isn't the G Watch R compatible with standard watch wristbands? How is having to buy new wristbands from Motorola an advantage?
THANKS MAN IM GETTING MOTO 360 in 2 weeks
The Moto 360 for me but I really hate that black bar on the base - it interrupts the minimalistic look.
It's not nearly as noticeable on the black version IMO!
Finally ordered the moto 360 in Belgium
