Love the optimism. Unfortunately, this is not a fashion piece. Only people who'll appreciate it are gadget nerds. This is underpowered for a $3,000 gadget, with a very niche use case. Rich people will be better off with a Samsung Galaxy Fold 2, and it's $500-$1,000 cheaper than that.

Imo the surface book is the best compromise. You have more power and a beautiful keyboard, when it’s attached to the bottom half and a decent tablet, when it’s detached. Company’s should focus on this type of tablets / notebooks.
@@MrMarcetLP yeah that's why they should keep improving this, so it can get more power, a better keyboard, and make it cheaper, by mass producing it. This technology is new to us, and we should improve it as much as we can to really know if it's worth it, but it's new and you shouldnt hate on it just because it isnt as good as something that did have several generations before. When the surface book 1 was new technology not everyone liked it, and it wasn't amazing, it took several tries to get right.
@@MrMarcetLP my biggest complaint with my surface book is that the laptop itself doesn't have any usb ports. It's really annoying that only the keyboard has them

Won't fit into my pocket anyway" and then You pulled the keyboard out and from that point this Tablet-Laptop thing is my new tech crush. Also i feel like windows is just made for such devices since it automatically devides the screen in 2 when you drag the window into one of the sides. Gotta love that. It even looks cool, kinda "rugged" like good old ThinkPads because of those bezels etc. Damn. Tech is getting crazy cool.
@@EliasSchmid00 I don't think it will be hard to take notes, the only thing am worried about is that this is the first generation, and it might have issues

Right? I personally think this will be the future for most people. Maybe not as the main computer for work or hardcore gaming, but definitely for casual use of tablets and notebooks. This will be the substitute. Much more useful than the case of folding phones where you get a phone that turns into a mini-tablet.
That keyboard is actually what makes the device a game changer. Being able to have a real keyboard in a snap and it staying in while folded made it a viable laptop
the implementation of the keyboard is cool, but the keyboard itself really isn't lmao. Thin plastic bluetooth keyboards have been around for a while...
Yeah, I get why you would buy a fold but I just can't understand buying phones loke the z or the RAZR. They are just normal phones that can fold, it's useless
It's cool, but the keyboard feels a bit cumbersome just hanging in there. Maybe in the future there could be a foldable 2-in-1 that has on one side a half screen with a keyboard (built-in), and on the other a giant foldable screen. You'd flip it depending on whether you want to use it as a laptop or a big monitor. Ideally in the future every surface on the device except for the keyboard would be just screen.
The greatest flex with that thing is you're jamming on little laptop mode with the keyboard on the display and then you slide it off, fold it all the way open and watch netflix. Your single serving plane friend will then not leave you alone until you explain the thing
These type of devices are at least 5 years away from being in the hands of every day people because the technology hasn’t matured and Apple hasn’t entered the game.

I was thinking the exact same thing.
Don't worry about that, Escobar will do that for you.
Lmao

I dunno. My dad's work computer in the mid 80s was a Compaq that cost like $5K. Take inflation into account and you'll see that $3K ain't that bad for 2020 bleeding edge tech.
Same here.

Damn, Lenovo knows how to engineer a good product. Never flashy, just practical in every way.
yeah... they kind of gave in. People were fancying the macbooks, so they shrunk down that whole " for those who do" thing and made the thinkpads flashier.
Compare a T42 / T420 to a modern T470/T480/X Carbon. I like the new Keyboards for their switches and feel, but why did they get rid of that command center layout with distinct key sizes and shapes. And Every button was a button! not an alt function.

I'm honestly fine with all my seperate devices being what they are lol

@@EliasSchmid00 Personally, I love tiny laptops. I miss the age of netbooks. The small screen in "laptop mode" is actually a feature for me, not a bug, doesn't bother me at all.
Keyboard will also wirelessly charge while its snapped into place on the fold.

How did you fall?
@@CultofThings the floor was slippery
Someone remind me to come back 10 years later when this goes on sale for $40 bucks

No shit, it has power of a 1000$ PC in size of a tablet AND it’s foldable AND it has specialized software for it, it’s a surprise it’s not $5k
The greatest flex with that thing is you're jamming on little laptop mode with the keyboard on the display and then you slide it off, fold it all the way open and watch netflix. Your single serving plane friend will then not leave you alone until you explain the thing
That sliding leather cover is brilliant!
