And you probably are youtubes biggest champion of foldable reviews. There are other youtubers who do a great job of reviewing tech and foldables but no one does quite the same job, with the same amount of detail and explains it so well. Thank you for another great and entertaining review!
This review is pretty fair and spot-on. I've had my Fold for a couple of months now, and there are three bugs I've encountered - two of which you covered in frustrating detail. Something's definitely wrong with Bluetooth, and the screen orientation issue was something that happened a lot when I first got the device, though it seems to have been fixed somewhat with a software update. Another bug I've experienced is that the battery doesn't always charge to 100%, even when I've left it to charge overnight. When I turn the device on or wake it after being plugged in, I'll sometimes only have 93% battery. I've also found the wireless charging of the keyboard to be inconsistent as well. Despite all of that, I still love the device. The keyboard is surprisingly comfortable to type on, even though you have to use multiple function buttons to produce a question mark amongst other forms of punctuation. Being able to have it folded like a laptop without the keyboard is great when I'm researching, as I can have a pdf/UA-cam video on the upper half while taking notes on the bottom half - something that Lenovo's previous Yoga Books never got completely right. When used in netbook mode I'm getting about 7-8 hours of use, though it really is a shame that the full screen mode only gets 3-4 hours (and that's with brightness around 50% for me). I really do wish they would have waited until 10X came out though, though some of the many problems you experienced would likely still be problems. For now it's absolutely amazing Lenovo got the hardware so right for a first gen product (the fact that it's hard to see the crease except when the screen is off, and even then, it's minimal is astounding). If only they had better internals and software. When things work, though, it's a blast to use.
Great review as always. Disappointing to hear that they didn't really ship out a finished product. These kind of usability bugs (mouse jitter/drift, typing errors, connectivity) just make a product so frustrating to use it ends up on a shelf instead of in your hand.
For me I'm disappointed because it uses windows İf it used android and if Lenovo made its own Samsung Dex platform on android it would run great I use my tab s7 Fe with Samsung Dex very good My setup is Phone=Galaxy S7 Edge(yeah the 2016 one) (with custom ROM) Tablet= Galaxy tab S7 FE with touchpad keyboard cover. To be fair to Lenovo, the fact that they got the hardware this right on the first-gen of a new product category is pretty impressive. To think all the issues aren't with the folding screen, what you would've assumed to be the most "in-progress" part of such a device, is amazing. I'm sure the second-gen is gonna be amazing.
Decent first attempt at this concept. Definitely will be looking forward to the next iteration of this hardware if it manages to garner one after this lackluster launch.
I love the fact that you don't pull any punches with your reviews. It'd be very easy for you to gloss over the more "smaller" shortfalls of devices in favor of a more positive review, which is something I see often with other reviewers, with things like games, in order to get in good with developers and the like. But those little things, coupled with the crazy high prices nowadays, can be a death by a thousand paper cuts. Thank you for your well thought out, shot, and honest reviews.
I honestly wanna see Lenovo try this again because the fact you can use it as a notebook, tablet and that cover that looks like an old school notebook is so fascinating to me. Here's to hoping Lenovo fixes the problems you listed and the next release comes with Win10X

Mr. Fisher, first thanks for the amazing content, a huge fan! I always check your reviews before a purchase, this is the only one I didn't follow. I bought an X1 Fold during the holiday sale this past Christmas. The unit works perfectly. And windows 11 has improved its battery life as well as brought some excellent features (windows hello camera works now) and others. Would you consider another look to help bring this amazing tech to the mainstream?
Thank you for the video. The three things that would be important to me (that I don't believe was covered) are 1. Is the crease going to distract me all day (how noticeable is the fold). 2. What cpu/gpu/wifi did they use (performance specs and internet speed for roaming) 3. Expected price Also, I may be alone on this, but I feel that foldable displays will be made obsolete by rollable displays before they go mainstream. (No annoying crease, less moving parts to break, smaller footprint.)
i can't count the amount of times they never "improved it" whether it be a tv show or movie or a videogame that should get another shot concept is good execution is bad
I use a lot linux on surface pro. I use linux for specific usage (download from unsafe sites). So not sure why use so much linux on 2-in-1 devices (linux means shell=lots of typing, opposite of touch devices).
I really like Lenovo as a company. I’ve had my thinkpad x1 yoga for a few years and It’s the best laptop I’ve ever owned. Lenovo is known for their innovation and while this not a perfect example, I know Lenovo will continue to build on it.
“Earned the ThinkPad name...” “Keyboard shows wear in two days...” NOPE. Let alone losing the Trackpoint. Toss the new Gateway logo on the boxes and dump them on fire sale at Walmart if this is what Lenovo thinks a ThinkPad is.
Please keep up the content - you are doing a fantastic job and I have been a fan for many years. When phones were fun is a blast - and like you I owned many you showcased.

I'm surprised that Lenovo of all companies screwed up a keyboard so hard. I do have their old Bluetooth keyboard, which is basically the thinkpad keyboard in a thin plastic shell and besides the super short range it works amazing.
I actually love this concept as someone who prefers their own external peripherals. The inbuilt keyboards on my current laptops almost never see use, so instead of being dead weight I'd rather trade them off for more screen space. It doesn't even have to be foldable, but touchscreen + stylus is a must. With it being a business laptop, it should be easy to upgrade components. Ideally it'd last me a lifetime
We have had the traditional laptop for decades. It will take time to refine such a new new form factor. I do believe this is possible future for laptops going forward if they can get this right in future models.

What really intrigues me here is the Wacom pen. With so many Windows tablets going the route of generic pen technology and standard Windows drivers that just don't come anywhere near Wacom functionality, that's been a missed opportunity for these machines to take back some of the iPad's grip on the mobile drawing device market. Really nice to see Lenovo going Wacom on this one, and also really interesting to see it implemented in a foldable. Moreso than anything, what has my interest piqued with foldables is their potential to offer up a larger surface area conducive to drawing. I like my Note 10+, don't get me wrong, but I rarely doodle on it given how cramped it feels despite having a pretty large footprint in my pocket. The idea of adding that pen tech to a tall foldable that opens into a 4:3-ish aspect ratio sounds wonderful.
4:18 this would have been the perfect device for Lenovo to bring back the 7 row keyboard. The king of TKL keyboards as it has both the functionality of a full sized keyboard, but the compact footprint of a TKL while still technically having the num-pad functionality. Instead people get this anemic touchpad instead which is far less efficient than the trackpoint. Especially in this form factor!
What I want is something that is the size of a 15” inch laptop folded, so when you unfold it, there’s a 30” screen to draw on, for producing digital art. It would also use Wacom tech.
That Pixel C Bluetooth problem was because of keyboards using an older Bluetooth version. Happened with my Logitech K810, but not with the Logitech KeysToGo or any of the bluetooth mechanical keyboard I have.

Awwww man.... I was really looking forward to this one.
Thank you for the video. The three things that would be important to me (that I don't believe was covered) are
1. Is the crease going to distract me all day (how noticeable is the fold).
2. What cpu/gpu/wifi did they use (performance specs and internet speed for roaming)
3. Expected price
Also, I may be alone on this, but I feel that foldable displays will be made obsolete by rollable displays before they go mainstream. (No annoying crease, less moving parts to break, smaller footprint.)
WE FINALLY HAVE A HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY BOOK!!!
Side note: Someone should make a linux distro just to mimic the book from the movie lmao
This was a very ambitious and groundbreaking device. I'm definitely looking forward to when they improve on it.
i can't count the amount of times they never "improved it" whether it be a tv show or movie or a videogame that should get another shot concept is good execution is bad
I would love to see how this behaves with linux on it.
I use a lot linux on surface pro. I use linux for specific usage (download from unsafe sites). So not sure why use so much linux on 2-in-1 devices (linux means shell=lots of typing, opposite of touch devices).
The 3rd generation should be really good. I can't wait!
Windows 10x on this does sound interesting, but I'm more interested to see how android would look on this 🤔
I really like Lenovo as a company. I’ve had my thinkpad x1 yoga for a few years and It’s the best laptop I’ve ever owned. Lenovo is known for their innovation and while this not a perfect example, I know Lenovo will continue to build on it.
Lenovo
We are introducing our brand new and the world's first folding laptop
Audience
Clear confusion
I never looked at folding phones as "the future" but this is so amazing. This is the future of laptops, I'd bet on it
I liked the intro🔥
Almost sumarize the entired video and well made XD
I actually like the idea of this product as long as one day it is refined and affordable.
Give it Linux Lenovo, build your own os for this beautiful hardware.
Excellent review - the reason I keep coming back to your channel. Well done, Michael.
“Earned the ThinkPad name...”
“Keyboard shows wear in two days...”
NOPE.
Such an exciting product. I hope the next generation lives up to what we know it can be ❤️
For me I'm disappointed because it uses windows
İf it used android and if Lenovo made its own Samsung Dex platform on android it would run great
I use my tab s7 Fe with Samsung Dex very good
My setup is
Phone=Galaxy S7 Edge(yeah the 2016 one) (with custom ROM)
Tablet= Galaxy tab S7 FE with touchpad keyboard cover. (This is the 2021 version)
Laptop= a 6 core i7 proccessor with GTX 1650 that I use only in the house while the galaxy tab S7 FE I take it wherever I go
Feels like this last year has been full of products that could possibly excel on a second attempt.
Damn, that’s a bummer. It looks so cool, and an amazing idea! Please try again Lenovo!!
I'm surprised that Lenovo of all companies screwed up a keyboard so hard. I do have their old Bluetooth keyboard, which is basically the thinkpad keyboard in a thin plastic shell and besides the super short range it works amazing.
I love a review that starts with a consise summary and then goes into the details. Really good review, had me lmao at bits.
Your reviews on folding products are second to none 👌🏻
This guy's reviews are so nicely put together!
This is honestly a really cool concept and something I'd own just for the netbook size.
I'm gonna wait a year or two and get one once the price drops, would love to use this for remote work when I'm out the house
I saw an adv. In that it showed apple users had no idea about pc laptop being so great.
I imagine the shock they will feel when they see your video 😊
Incredible, this is the first time I'm watching your channel, you are unique in your way deliver the speech. Weldone my friend and our best wishes to you from Dubai
4:02: that keyboard is out of this modern world, so amazing
It's really good to see how technology allows you to fold, to open, to fold, not cracked, wow!!!......that's it. It's not gonna be a comfortable feeling to keep for a couple of years... Good Luck Tech. I hope you can cover the cost with this video view. .
8:21 Today I like to think of myself as UA-cam's biggest champion of folding screen technology. Couldn't be more true 👍. I felt sadness through the soundtrack and wasn't surprised with your conclusion of the review.
Music starts* - This is the coolest laptop I have ever used
Me plus in earphones (Yes I do use 3.5mm -old school)
Plays this vdo
😎😎 The mesmerizing music... Woo! That's something new.
This tech UA-cam always surprise with something new.
From Captain2phones to MrMobile. Every vdo is Ultra Pro max awesome
Man U always bring the new and most advanced things to your channel we appreciate that hard work U Do 👍👍👍👍👌
I miss my old ThinkPad. They're so great.
This device and your feelings about it reminds me much of my Lenovo YogaBook 10 inch with touch keyboard in Wacom touch layer.
I would love to see a reevaluation video of this device running Windows 11. Initial impressions online suggest it’s a rather positive improvement.
Yes! That is what I’ve been looking for Penny’s smart book that interfaced with everything and anything on Inspector Gadget....
The future style of laptop computers. Wow!
Best reviewer so far...not all these folks that sing praises about devices that....
