The song "Siekiera, Motyka" from 1942 was, let's say, a not so subtle diss towards the Germans. It was sung by a street bands and popular in resistance circles. Originally, the Germans didn't understand it, which makes it quite funny (if you remember the sketch titled "Hitler" from the series "13 Posterunek," where Goering brings a message to Hitler, /Axe, hoe, hand saw, liquor/stupid painter lost the war/, he says "The children sing this on every courtyard"). Anna Jantar, real name Anna Maria Kukulska née Szmeterling[2] (born June 10, 1950 in Poznań, died March 14, 1980 in Warsaw[3]) - Polish singer. She was considered an icon of Polish pop music[4]. She was counted among the popular and famous Polish singers of the 1970s[5][6][7]. She launched such hits as: "Tyle słońca w cała miasto", "Nic nie może zawsze trwa", "Staruszek świat", "Najtrudniejszy pierwszy kroku", "Za każdy Uśmiech", "Baju-baj niech pana (Jambalaya)", "Radość najpiękniekniejsze lat", "Mój tylko moje", "Nie wierzmi, niezajmi", "Wielka dama taniec sama" or "Moje tylko marzeń"[8]. In total, she sang about 160 songs by various composers[8]. She collaborated with many artists, including Stanisław Sojka, Bogusław Mec, Zbigniew Hołdys and Andrzej Tenard, and also recorded songs with the bands Budka Suflera and Perfect[8]. She performed in Austria, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Finland, Ireland, Yugoslavia, Canada, the GDR, the FRG, the United States, Sweden, Hungary and the Soviet Union[9].
Dawid Podsiadło won Poland's Got Talent in early 2010s. Since then he took over the Polish pop music scene. He is one creative and talented artist with a distinct personality that you cannot help but adore. He's universally liked in Poland. And for a good reason. Please check him out. He's great.
Hello, 15:03 - that was Big Cyc, I'd classify them as a folk/satirical group, the song you watched is called "Facet to świnia" (aka "Man is a pig" XDDD), it feels super Polish to me, you might want to look up the English translation for it, they also recorded an opening to "Świat według Kiepskich", a classic TV series. Generally, some of the songs are older than me (I've turned 30 this year), but my dad would blast Polish rock bands during our car trips, so they sound very nostalgic to me :D I vividly remember a hot summer day in our Opel Kadett, windows open, wind blowing in my face, with Budka Suflera in my ears, damn :D Also! You might want to look up Agnieszka Chylińska/O.N.A. - the video cut off the best part of "Kiedy powiem sobie dość" (at least for me!) Although I don't like the new Polish Pop like Sylwia Grzeszak, Sanah, Sarsa etc (just not my jam! It's fine if you like them tho!♥), I still love Dawid Podsiadło, he seems way more authentic than most Pop personas nowadays. My reccommendations of bands/songs to check out would be: Kayah, Krzysztof Krawczyk (RIP sweet king), "Orcas from Mallorca", "Kolorowy Wiatr" from Pocahontas, CHLEB, Hera Koka Hasz LSD, Maryla Rodowicz, Łzy - Agnieszka :D Sorry for the essay, have a nice day!
There were more bands or artist at this list that performed not only during one decade, but many, many more decades, just to mention Krzysztof Krawczyk, Bajm or Maryla Rodowicz.
Tercet egzotyczny (Exotic Trio) was not mentioned too. Polish band that play from 1963 to 2019 is after band Trubadurzy longest playing band in Polish music.
Well, it is a bit surprising seeing rock bands (Lady Pank, Budka Suflera - both were definitely more rock than pop back then) on the pop list ;) But it's still good rank, anyway. Definitely shows kind of evolution.
Before the WW II there were many more songs that are well known even up till now among most of the Poles. But here were only some of them (for instance very well known artists and their songs were Hanka Ordonówna - here 1:07, Eugeniusz Bodo, arrested and murdered during the war by Soviets - 1:33 and 1:38; 2:19 is also a very well known song, from the occupation times, but there were more also many famous ones). So for this old period these are not all the best and the most popular songs, only some of them are. Much more accurate it is, this whole list, since the 1960s - with Kalina Jędrusik (being also an actress), and other artists from very old, but good, famous "the Elderly Gentlemen's Cabaret", later legendary Czesław Niemen, Czerwone Gitary (The Red Guitars, a very well known band of that times), and others - also very good and well known up till now. And in the 1970s - like e.g. Marek Grechuta, Anna Jantar, Maryla Rodowicz, Krzysztof Krawczyk, 2plus1, Bajm, and others. Songs from the 1980s are also very well known - Andrzej Rosiewicz, Jacek Kaczmarski - with his legendary song 9:16, being an anthem of anti-communist opposition in Poland, titled "Mury" ("The Walls"), Budka Suflera, Kombi, Lady Pank etc. Although the songs from the 1960s to 1980s are from time of my parents, their childhood and teenage years, but I also know most of them well. But again, the pieces are too short to get know any of these songs really.
That genre you were wondering about is most broadly called Traditional Pop. There are differences in regional scenes, with the American scene borrowing from jazz and swing, France had a lot of show tunes and “Chansons”, and Poland often looked toward Latin America, with Tangos being quite popular along with lyrics about the region. Of course, the most common theme in them all is love, just like modern Pop music, which originated from Traditional Pop and Rock n Roll.
Mieszkam za granicą już dlugo i wstyd się przyznać, ale nie znam żadnej piosenki Dawida Podsiadło, Darii Zawiałow i niektórych nie kojarzę. A widzę, że są popularni w Polsce.
Dawid Podsiadło is such a popular singer that even his song is in an anime, one of the most popular ones anyway: Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners (ending and side songs)
ok, so I need to add my 2 cent too, even though I technically am not polish myself, my parents are. So my childhood music from the polish side was: everything Starsi Panowie and guests, Kalina Jędrusik Marek Grechuta, Czeslaw Niemen, Andrzej Zaucha, Krzysztof Klenczon, Czerwone Gitary, Lady Pank, Marla Rodowicz,. After the 90's I do not know Polish music as the music I know is from my parents. I have never lived in Poland and have never followed polish pop music. I am sure there is more but those are in my opinion a must. Enjoy!
Dawid Podsiadło have few beautiful english songs. You should definitely hear "Phantom Liberty" Where Did Your Love Go? "Let You Down" and "Little Stranger"
And it’s a lot of amazing very popular (not viewed on yt) rock music from 70’s 80’s and 90’s. I wrote M.A. thesis about polish rock music in that decades.
Anna Jantar died in the crash of the Polish Airlines SP-LAA IŁ62M Mikołaj Kopernik on March 14, 1980, while returning from a concert tour for the Polish community in the United States. In my opinion, she was one of the best singers in Poland
Anna Jantar was one of the best Polish singers. In 1979, she recorded her last hit "Nic nie może wiecznie trwać" (Nothing can last forever). A year later she died in a plane crash at the Okęcie airport. in 1980 Krzysztof Krawczyk recorded a song to tribute Anna Jantar "To co dał nam świat" (What the world gave us".
Fun fact: lead singer from O.N.A. (1996) and Agnieszka Chylińska (2009) is the same person :D She changed the genre a bit. Also Mrozu, he started as some sort of raper/hiphop kinda guy (2009) and evolved past it. You can already see the start of it in your video (2014) and if you check some newer songs from him, for example "Szerokie wody" or "Aura" it's hard to believe it's the same artist.
Just 5 was supposed to be Polish backstreet boys indeed ;) they were cast by signing through newspaper letters (in a newspaper for teenage girls) and recently there was na idea of bringing them back to life 😁 either in an original team or with some new members
Dawid Podsiadło is an amazing singer, he has some songs in English such as “Let you Down “ or “Phantom Liberty “ both used in Cyberpunk. You definitely have to check his songs 😁
Dawid Podsiadło has won some kind of competition in Poland that had a form of "Britain got a talent". He was contracted to record album or two with the producers of the show, but his career flourished when this contract has ended. From what I've heard they were highly restricting him from creating his music and as the contract ended he started to record his own music that he created. He has some very good songs, some were even recorded in English as well.
You should check: Julia Wieniawa & Maciej Musiałowski - Zabierz tę miłość Edyta Górniak - List Męskie Granie - Początek Męskie Granie - I Ciebie też, bardzo Męskie Granie - Supermoce
Please take into consideration in years 1939-1945 during World War II Poland was under German occupation and so our music and art was also a result of it. Even after that, when Warsaw got destroyed and the war ended, people had trauma deep in them so the tone was never very high and optimistic then.
Dawid Podsiadło made some great songs for cyberpunk 2077 and cyberpunk edgerunners. His a great singer, so my proposition is to maybe make a video with his music.
Dawid Podsiadło, Sanah and Sylwia Grzeszczak were, I would say 3 of the biggest names of the last decade. They've been absolutely everywhere for many years... Well, could be worse. Each of them has some cool songs in their repertoir.
Dawid Podsiadło is the most popular pop male singer since 2015-16 i think. He have kind of smart and emotional lyrics so u can translate a few to know what is he singing. I can sugest you to listen "nie kłami" (it is about break), "trofea" (it is about fame and how its feel inside), "lis" (its like emotional break inside) but he have song in english "no" (only one I know)
Unironically, the best Polish music was made under Soviet occupation. It's almost like freedom got into our heads and we don't know what to do with it. Anna Jantar is my favorite.
Fun fact, song Siekiera motyka was song that was dissing Hi*ler, its about torturing and ki**ing civilians. It is one of the first anty war songs in POland.
U are right in some way And wrong with other. 30-40-50 was similar, a lot od singers was singing for these Years(like Mieczysław Fogg), 60 Is start of Polish rock with Czerwone Gitary(sometimes called Polish Beatles), then we have legendary rockstars like Budka Suflera, Lady Punk, Czesław Niemen, Maryla Rodowicz or Krzysztof Krawczyk who are most populár till today. 90 is one way Polish Pop, 2nd way od popularity is Polish Disco(we Are calling its disco polo), ofc still popular rock And start of rap. Smth likes 2005+ rap is growing from undeground to mainstream. Now most popular Is rap and pop with Podsiadło(we can say that he Is one od thé biggest stars), Sanah. Funny thing Is that Maryla Rodowicz still Is singing at every Polish New Year TV Partyshow(She start sing in 70s). In my opinion the best singer Is Czesław Niemen, ladysinger Anna Jantar, thé best band Budka Suflera/Dżem, my top3 songs: Dziwny jest ten świat (Niemen), Wieża Babel(Budka Suflera), Ostatnia Niedziela(singing by Fogg) - every od this songs have so freakin deep text(u have tanslate Polish songs for English by website tekstowo.pl)

DŁUGOŚĆ DŹWIĘKU SAMOTNOŚCI DAWID PODSIADŁO AND ROJEK CHORZÓW LIVE IT'S MESMERIZING💞💖💞💖💖💞
Generally, some of the songs are older than me (I've turned 30 this year), but my dad would blast Polish rock bands during our car trips, so they sound very nostalgic to me :D I vividly remember a hot summer day in our Opel Kadett, windows open, wind blowing in my face, with Budka Suflera in my ears, damn :D
Also! You might want to look up Agnieszka Chylińska/O.N.A. - the video cut off the best part of "Kiedy powiem sobie dość" (at least for me!)
Although I don't like the new Polish Pop like Sylwia Grzeszak, Sanah, Sarsa etc (just not my jam! It's fine if you like them tho!♥), I still love Dawid Podsiadło, he seems way more authentic than most Pop personas nowadays.
My reccommendations of bands/songs to check out would be: Kayah, Krzysztof Krawczyk (RIP sweet king), "Orcas from Mallorca", "Kolorowy Wiatr" from Pocahontas, CHLEB, Hera Koka Hasz LSD, Maryla Rodowicz, Łzy - Agnieszka :D
Sorry for the essay, have a nice day!
Maryla will never die 😅
@@AngeLa-wu8su True. She performs since ages indeed.
Its interesting to watch Your videos, thanks, leaved a SUB 😄
15:42 This is Doda she is the most popular female artist in Poland. So much people call her a queen because of her beauty and how smart she is.
XD
That genre you were wondering about is most broadly called Traditional Pop. There are differences in regional scenes, with the American scene borrowing from jazz and swing, France had a lot of show tunes and “Chansons”, and Poland often looked toward Latin America, with Tangos being quite popular along with lyrics about the region. Of course, the most common theme in them all is love, just like modern Pop music, which originated from Traditional Pop and Rock n Roll.
Poland has also rich history of rock/metal music🤘
Dawid Podsiadło is such a popular singer that even his song is in an anime, one of the most popular ones anyway: Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners (ending and side songs)
to polska gra wiec muzyke tez dali polską
I was born on July 10, 1993 and I started to understand music only 10 years ago.
ok, so I need to add my 2 cent too, even though I technically am not polish myself, my parents are.
Dziękuję 😊
For the early years many of this songs dosn't have a "music video" but they were part of polish films and that's where the video comes from.
Anna Jantar died in the crash of the Polish Airlines SP-LAA IŁ62M Mikołaj Kopernik on March 14, 1980, while returning from a concert tour for the Polish community in the United States. In my opinion, she was one of the best singers in Poland
I love hearing old polish accent a lot more 'L' sounds instead of nowadays 'Ł' in words, and it hasn't even been this long ❤
Anna Jantar, Kombi, Bajm , Krzysztof Krawczyk , Lady Pank , Maanam , ONA ( Chylińska Agnieszka ) , Hey and more... Polish Legends
80s was my favourite decade of Polish music. I am 35, so I was raised with it, that's probably why.
My suggestion for Dawid and Sanah would be
Dawid Podsiadlo - 4:30
Sanah - Jestem twoją bajką
Sanah - Mamo tys plakala
He had already a whole separate video about "Mamo tyś płakała".
Exciting reaction
Worth mentioning that this isn't strictly a "The best of" compilation, this is based on the number of views each video has on youtube
Just 5 was supposed to be Polish backstreet boys indeed ;) they were cast by signing through newspaper letters (in a newspaper for teenage girls) and recently there was na idea of bringing them back to life 😁 either in an original team or with some new members
When it comes to Dawid Podsiadło "Where Did Your Love Go" is a great song, and it's also in english
Did You notice that you actually reacted to „Kiedy powiem sobie dość” (1996) in one of your videos? It was from the live performance.
Kiedyś były dowcipy o Mieczysławie Foggu, miał wszystkich przeżyć. A potem złośliwie umarł...
Teraz podobne dowcipy są o Maryli Rodowicz.
13:08 is the reason why i watched this film >:> End yeah, Just5 was created on idea of Backstreet Boys
this is another epic song...Dawid Podsiadlo - Nieznajomy (live from PGE Narodowy, 28.09.2019) You won't be disappointed
Kortez, Podsiadło, Zalewski - Męskie Granie - Początek ua-cam.com/video/QRxH-II0OsA/v-deo.html
Oh yes! Great song and a fantastic music video shot in one camera shot (without cuts). Unbelievable. You must see!
You should check:
Julia Wieniawa & Maciej Musiałowski - Zabierz tę miłość
Edyta Górniak - List
Męskie Granie - Początek
Męskie Granie - I Ciebie też, bardzo
Męskie Granie - Supermoce
Where is your interest of every thing which is polish coming from?
90' and 00' are the best years for Polish rap. Best songs to listen
Each of them has some cool songs in their repertoir.
że kto?
Kasia Sochacka.
@@kalina4321 też nie znam
Dawid i Sanah 🤣🤣🤣🙈🙈🙈😱😱. Jedna wielka porażka.. Słuchać się tego nie da..
@@meggi007nikt nie zmusza :) i nie, nie jestem fanką.
Dawid Podsiadło is the most popular pop male singer since 2015-16 i think. He have kind of smart and emotional lyrics so u can translate a few to know what is he singing. I can sugest you to listen "nie kłami" (it is about break), "trofea" (it is about fame and how its feel inside), "lis" (its like emotional break inside) but he have song in english "no" (only one I know)
to my mind... you supose to hear very very great thing... MĘSKIE GRANIE - CIEBIE TEŻ BARDZO ... (yes, Dawid Podsiadło is in Męskie Granie) :)
11:05 bro activated his war instincts
also a thumb up because i like to watch somebody rate/watch my native culture
dude Budka Suflera Ratujmy co sie da
u will love it
Dawid Podsiadło made one of his albums in english you should listen to this!
Unironically, the best Polish music was made under Soviet occupation. It's almost like freedom got into our heads and we don't know what to do with it. Anna Jantar is my favorite.
These are some songs from Dawid Podsiadło you can react to:
- Małomiasteczkowy
- Najnowszy Klip
- Trofea
- Nie ma fal
- mori
- Nie Lubię Cię
so many good songs, so little time
Fun fact, song Siekiera motyka was song that was dissing Hi*ler, its about torturing and ki**ing civilians. It is one of the first anty war songs in POland.
13:01 this is song from ROTARY but picture of Myslovitz. xD
Cześć posłuchaj piosenki modlitwa obozowa pozdrawiam z Polski
2:07 Disney theme 😁🤔
50. XX wieku
Muzyka pop wywodzi się z rock and rolla i powstała w latach 50. XX wieku123.
50s of the 20th century
Pop music originates from rock and roll and was created in the 50s of the 20th century123. Rock and roll artists began recording melodic songs, easy to listen to, easy to listen to due to dance rhythm1. In principle, all musical compositions that meet these conditions can be called pop music1.
yes, in the world and in Poland, in reality, pop has been around since the 90s, and before that it was mainly rock or sung poetry
only clearly rock songs are here and in the 90s
in the 2000s they start, half of them are already pop on this list
and later most of them are pop, but there are also more rock
Dawid Podsiadło is one of those genuinly talented dudes, who make banger songs and win prizes left and right but he stays true to himself and doesn't have an inflated ego. If you react to his music, please try to find the english translation to the lyrics, the meaning is what makes his music art
Funny thing is that no one really listens to Dawid Podsiadło and Sanah. Their songs are just marketed really good and play on the radio on repeat. I stopped listening to the radio because of them.
To be honest it should be made aldo a separated video for evolution of polish pop-rock music
Same hity! 💖 Zbyt krótkie tylko fragmenty 😃
I am from 2010 and I noe almost every song that is amazing
COMA you should check that band 2004-2016 the biggest polish rock band 750 thousand people in Woodstock live

Can I ask you to watch and react to the video on the evolution of Polish hip-hop/rap?
At the moment Dawid Podsiadło, Sanah, Mrozu are the best but we cannot forget about Mery Spolsky, Ralph Kaimiński, Sara James, Viki Gabor, the Domplings and Kwiat Jabłoni - these are artists of the new generation, there is much more...
Dawid Podsiadło made a excellent song for the expansion to Cyberpunk 2077. I really recommend You to react to it! It's Dawid Podsiadło, P.T. Adamczyk - Phantom Liberty
