- After being contacted by a few people regarding my friend Ronnie and the mystery of why his cars had ended up on eBay, The same cars he told me he would never part with... how could a man in his 80’s who never even used the Internet suddenly advertise all of his pride & joy’s... Things just didn’t add up!
So I decided to do some investigation work.. I tried a number of times to contact him on his mobile with no luck, I knew something was wrong so I arranged with Lee & Ben to take a trip back to his yard and find out what was going on?... Watch the video to find out what has happened... but be warned, this sadly isn’t one of those story’s with a happy ending 😔

Colin, you and your mates are lovely, warm, caring human beings. Ronnie lucked out making friends with you. Ronnie was such a lovely old codger. It's a shame - but at least he had you lot to care about him.
The pigeons had ZERO clean water as well as food. I think they might be homing pigeons and Homers WON'T leave. You really need to call the RSPCA. You need to contact the RSPCA. It's a shame what happened to him, but you do need to contact the RSPCA to ensure his pigeons are looked after. I hope his cat is okay too. But THANK YOU for caring.
Rest in Peace Ronnie. Such a kind and friendly bloke, it’s a shame there aren’t more people like him around these days. There’s comfort in knowing some of the cars have been saved or parts of them are being sold on - hopefully Ronnie’s story can continue with them. It is a massive shame that Ronnie is no longer with us, but it is nice we all got to “meet” him, his cars and his passion before he passed. Massive, massive respect for caring about the old chap and showing your concern for the circumstances too - it’s heartwarming to know that you were there for him and made good friends with him as elderly loneliness is such a terrible and heartbreaking thing

Long time subscriber here. That’s one of the saddest uploads I’ve watched in a long time. Please tell us you contacted the RSPCA about the pigeons. I hope his cat was re homed and not locked in his home.

Thanks for following up on this Colin. At least it seems there wasn't any skulduggery involved. Can't see that Ronnie would have been happy in a home without his cars and his pigeons, so maybe it was for the best after all. Would be great to know more about his life, but I guess we will never get to find out now

I’ve just watched the earlier video again. Such a friendly and welcoming man who’s cars meant a lot to him. It is great how you befriended him. It is so sad how his life ended. RIP Ronnie.

@@louisewillets9881 Ronnie had a fall and ended up in hospital . He then caught Covid The cars were listed on EBay by a Company handling his affairs. The proceeds of the sale were to pay for Ronnie going into care. Sadly, he passed away.
Can’t believe what the seller did to the Packard Clipper. He sold it for spares and all that’s left is the front. He basically chopped it from the dashboard back,so all that’s left is the front end,dashboard and front doors. Everything else including the floor to the boot has been sold or scrapped. Just glad Ronnie didn’t see it like that
My ex-husband and I bought two 1942 Chryslers (I think...it was 30 years ago) from an older gentleman. He was a retired body guy and had been accumulating on his own property for "someday." He had a huge 20-foot bay built to accommodate and had about 20 more cars on his property, which you could not see from the road...just the steep downhill driveway. His property faced the Banana River. Along came a developer who bought land next door and built a condo. The people who lived on the east end began complaining that when they sat on their balcony they could see the cars. The city kept fining him until he sold everything one by one. So sad.

Only just had a chance to watch this and was very upsetting to hear about Ronnie's passing. The video you made with him is one of my favorites as its not everyday you meet such a nice guy who is willing to talk about their cars, especially on video... He was a guy I could have chatted to for hours and would have loved every second of it! Not many of his caliber left in this world sadly... Rest in piece Ronnie.

You've got me in tears. I'm so sorry for Ronnie and for yourself and overwhelmed that you care so much. Your compassion is just beautiful especially in this world where so few people care. You've pretty much driven from one end of England to the other to come and check on him And to check that things are above board. I was startled to see on the McDonald's receipt that its the only local (regional!) branch to me. It's brilliant to know that you were up this way but so very sad as to why. I was wondering about the poor little pigeons too, his family obviously knew that they were there, and domesticated birds 🐦 it was cruel that they didn't make sure they had food & water, they all looked so scared and really desperate
@@lisadoran8622 i expect they will move on to the nearest town centre eventually, but as for the young ones that couldnt fly, i wouldnt like to think where they are now

I think a lot of us were under the impression that he had no family.
I don't think there was great care in removing the cars as to the damage to the caravan ect either !
But at the end of the day it sounds all above board and that's all that matters now.

That's so sad that Ronnie's life as he knew it has come to an end. He will be better off in a home, at least he will be cared for sadly his pigeons and animals need help. Thank you for checking all this out, p,ease let us know what happens and visit Ronnie if you can. The pickup company that moved the cars didn't care thats for sure.

You have always come across as am amazing person. I don't know you but you have definitely proved yourself as being an amazing person. Not many would of took the time to do what you did for Ronnie and his pigeons. It's a shame the ending was so sad but you know you did the right thing in your heart. Yes, I know what you mean, I had to handle that sort of situation recently, took nearly 3 years to get everything settled.
unfortunately dude, speaking from my years of working wills and probate: if as the neighbour says ronnie had a person appointed under a power of attorney, they will have had the right to sell the belongings before ronnie died so it could be tricky to prove any wrongdoing on their part, but it is always worth investigating to make sure
Sounds like they took the assets to pay for the care home. His home wasn't 'worth' selling but the cars were. The Covid19 funding allows for 6 weeks here (where it seems Ronnie was based) then You pay charges. Social Services are after my late fathers estate as once the Covid funds finished they could bill him. They're Months behind on the charging for my father. Its up to the Executor as I'm not named in the will. Care costs and estate sort outs are complex 😔

Why not fill the water troughs for the pigeons? Looks like there was a tap and sink up the stairs!
Not sure why those now in charge of his estate and property only cared for his collectable, expensive cars but left pigeons to die and rot!
Can not the person with Power of Attorney be charged with cruelty of animals?

@@broonysaint Most definitely, it is their responsibility to ensure any livestock on the property is dealt with and taken care of.
Usually selling off everything of value including livestock is their job.
Maybe they didn't realise he kept pigeons?
Homing/racing pigeons really need someone to care and look after them, they need bird feed and clean water.
When my dad kept pigeons they do sometimes escape and can be tracked down by the unique number on the ring on their foot, they don't fare well out in the wild foraging and fending for themselves, they sometimes can though.
At least these birds can get out but I would hope someone would just feed and water them temporarily, until a new owner can be found.
Leaving them is just cruel.

This made me cry. Grown man sitting here in my living room crying at a youtube video. RIP Ronnie and thank you guys for trying to find him and the sad news that followed. dang
Seen this happen with a guy that was a multi-millionaire; had property, probably 40 cars (many were very pricey), cash. Over about a 10 year period, he just tried to keep it all as his age & health kept on advancing. Even a childhood friend of his came up and told him to pick maybe a dozen of his favorites (the same thing I had told him over the last couple years as I got an idea) and sell his excess properties- he had millions more there. In the end, developers came in and took the vast majority of his vehicles, seized the land and never saw him again. Was a sad state of affairs

How desperately sad... A man that had an obvious passion for his pigeon racing - his loft set up, at one time would have been admired. So sad his assets had to be collected and sold, but at least they will be restored. God bless Ronnie 🌷

Such a sad ending to the mans life RIP Ronnie, just grateful you found no foul play with his cars , hope you called RSPCA about the pigeons even if they had to be humanly destroyed bcos of diseases they might carry it’s certainly better than them starving to death.
