I actually enjoyed the video I’m from Fresno but I do travel those roads . I recognize those roads even the ones in Modesto . I’ve been through all those roads I found this video vary relaxing and brought back memories . Pleasant memories . Thank you .
Cool to see this part of CA 108! I have yet to drive the segment between Modesto and Oakdale as it's always more direct use 120 to and from Oakdale to reach 108 from the Bay Area.
This part of CA-108 is a pain to drive if I’m being honest especially along McHenry Avenue in Modesto with its traffic issues. If I’m going into the mountains along CA-108, I take the route you mentioned above because it saves so much time.
Looking forward to the rest! We live out of state now, but I used to live in this area and would commute up to O'Byrnes Ferry Rd for work. Good memories. I love those rolling hills and big California valley oaks.
7:09 When your local road is 7 lanes wide at 200k and traffic is bad, it's likely Modesto will do the same mistakes everyone else did and just build more lanes. We're getting to a point where rail transit is needed if the city keeps its growth pattern.
Thanks for giving us a tour of the town you grew up in. About the towns in the video getting this rapid population growth, I know the folks living there aren't fond of these folks moving & possibly changing the culture & feel- & not always for the better. As this is going to be series on CA route 108, I can't wait to see it going in the Sierra Nevada & esp at Sonara Pass.
There are certain times of the day that I will intentionally stay off of both McHenry and Coffee Roads because of the heavy traffic and in the 10 years that I'd lived here, the traffic had only gotten worse,in the early 80's it wasn't like this,I had an Aunt that use to live in Modesto and it was nice and quiet especially during the summer months..the rural lifestyle is definitely for me
Parts of this video look somewhat familiar to me. I'm sure it harkens back to those long, long ago trips to central California back when I was just starting in trucking. In fact, I do remember a time when we stopped on the side of the road to "raid" an orange grove. (Well, there was no one else around at the time). 😂
CA 108 north of Kiernan Avenue and CA 120 was the route I took to get to Yosemite in 2020. Unfortunately I didn't get to film it because it was dark so it's nice to see what it looks like in daytime.

Never thought I’d get nostalgia from watching a video of driving through my hometown that I despised so much but here I am haha 😅
Glad you enjoyed it! I felt the same way working on this video lol.

Thanks for tuning in. I will admit its a bit weird seeing some of the streets I grew up on here on UA-cam. Definitely makes me feel nostalgic!

Central Valley produce is some of the freshest you can find that’s for sure!

Seems like a pleasant area to live. What were those orchards you passed as you left Modesto? Walnuts? Almonds?
The area grows a lot of both. But the first trees were almond trees.

Thank you very much Jeff!
