Medical schools did NOT care about my 343 hours of hospital volunteering. In all my medical school interviews, I spoke about cleaning high-touch areas, transferring phones to nursing stations, and delivering blood products to the basement exactly 0 times.
Hospital volunteering was a HUGE mistake for me & while I’m grateful to have gotten into my dream medical school, let’s focus on these 4 things that SUCKED about my medical school application so you can avoid making the same mistakes.

WHO AM I?
If we haven’t met before - Hey 👋 I’m Mike, a UCLA medical school graduate, now an Anesthesiology Resident in NYC and I’ve been helping premeds (just like you) get into their dream medical schools for the last 7 years. Through my videos here on this channel and our suite of premed resources available above, I share what makes premeds stand out and how you can get closer to becoming a doctor today.
Thank you for this video! Very helpful and answered all my questions
Very helpful video!
Glad it was helpful! :)
Helpful video ! Do you think EMT work or scribing is better to get real world medical experiences and patient interaction ? Thanks
While it’s easy to nitpick parts of your application after the fact, these things matter. My roommate Ben had a 3.8 GPA/517 MCAT and earned ZERO acceptances. Making the same mistakes I did can stop you from ever becoming a doctor. For a full understanding of why Ben struggled to get in, watch this video here (ua-cam.com/video/vra-QJZrqoM/v-deo.html). It’ll connect the dots on what you’ve just learned. I’ll see you over there!
