    If you mount the radiator parallel with the ground, with a large "chimney" above it, then you could turn the fans off, and cool it entirely passively, relying on the hot air rising to draw in cooler air from the bottom, for most applications given the size of your radiator I think.

    I'm new to this, but why do you need fans inside, if it is already getting cooled by the water? And what is the best thing to soak it in?

    • @likeanyoneelseeng7358
      @likeanyoneelseeng7358  Рік тому

      I'm new to this too :) You are right, fans have almost no effect on cooling efficiency, I left them only for aesthetic reasons. As far as I know, for immersion cooling, you can use purified mineral oil, or silicone oil. It is preferable to use silicone oil, as under the influence of mineral oil, some types of plastic and rubber can be destroyed.

    This is an awesome feat of engineering. Through and through you demonstrated understanding of mechanics, fluid dynamics, and electrical engineering. The controls are on point, would you be willing to share a few more details about how you wired in controls for the radiator fans?

    • @likeanyoneelseeng7358
      @likeanyoneelseeng7358  Рік тому +1

      Greetings! Oh sure. To control the speed of the fans, I used the same DC-DC converter as for the pump. This converter can change the voltage from 12V to almost zero, using a trimmer resistor. In order to change the speed of the fans from maximum to minimum, I also added a variable resistor in series with the trimmer resistor. In this way, by rotating the knob of the variable resistor, you can change the output voltage, and, accordingly, the speed of the fans.
      I'm really glad to know that you liked my video. I hope in the future I will be able to please you with new videos)
      Thanks for the comment!

    • @JtVo
      @JtVo Рік тому +1

      @@likeanyoneelseeng7358 Got it! Can you cap the minimum voltage of the DC-DC converter for the fans at 3v or 5v? Is there a mechanical end to the variable resistor (potentiometer?)?

    • @likeanyoneelseeng7358
      @likeanyoneelseeng7358  Рік тому

      @@JtVo Yes, you can limit the minimum voltage at the output of the converter to 5 volts. First, With the help of trimmer resistors, I set the minimum voltage to 5 volts, and than with the help of a potentiometer I adjust the output voltage from the maximum (slightly below the input voltage of 12 volts) to the minimum 5 volts. So with the minimum position of the potentiometer, the fans do not stop, but operate at the minimum speed.

    When running your pump to test your speed control, DO NOT RUN PUMPS DRY. They don't like that and often it ruins them.

    Did you do the wiring like you did cuz of the oil liking to leech up the cables? ive always wanted to do this but was concerned about the oil leeching up the cables like previously built oil pcs. also if youre introducing air bubbles to the oil then there is no need for the radiator
