The one thing I wish for your videos is that you would show yourself stepping into the ride. This would be such a great help to those with disabilities trying to decide if they could ride the ride. Just a thought.
Well the movie... It is actually kind of messed up as far as how it portraits the post civil war era and the stereotypes. Watch the movie and you'll understand (Song of the South). Especially the tar baby scene
@@s.b.8258 while it's not great, and is definitely insensitive, it's mainly the live-action segments. If I'm not mistaken, the whole tar baby thing is one of the original stories from the tales of Uncle Remus and wasn't a slur until about the time of the movie, if not later. Additionally, they don't use tar baby as a slur in the movie, but as it's original "the more you fight it the worse it gets" metaphor. Especially because the idea of the tar baby actually comes from African folklore, though I believe it was made with sap from a gum tree. Which makes sense considering tales of uncle Remus was adapted from African-American folktales, which were themselves adaptations of African folktales. Some even argue that the only reason tar baby is a slur is because it sounds like one. Really the worse thing about the movie (in my opinion) is the idyllic depiction between plantation owners, and what too closely resembles enslaved African Americans. However, most people haven't seen the movie because it's never been re-released, with the exception of a very limited run in Europe. So the only way to actually see it is bootleg copies or maybe illegal digital copies, but as far as I can tell they're all VHS rips. most people think the characters on the ride are original to the ride, and that there was no song of the south movie... which is likely the only reason the theme has stayed around that long.
I’m obsessed with this ride, and the characters, and song of the south, of course I’ll get called a “racist” for saying that” it’s a shame people are actually offended by a ride. One of my favorite things in the world is getting destroyed, such a perfect ride, with a great story, there is nothing better than these characters, no princess can ever replace my favorite Disney characters. No other ride is better than this, the best part of the ride is the story. Damn liberals ruin everything that I love. :(
The tale of Ole Briar Rabbit was actually first told by black Gullah people on the SC and GA sea islands. PC Liberals want it torn down because they hate basically everyone and everything. And most are just stupid... really stupid.
I think the Princess and the Frog version is gonna be really fun! Although it is kind of sad we’ll get to say farewell to this attraction that’s been here for a bunch of years.
So I’m going to WDW in a couple of weeks. I really want to ride this before they change the theme because I love Brer Rabbit and all of the Uncle Remus stories. Is there anywhere that is drier, like the least likely to get completely soaked?
I'm gonna regret not being able to experience Splash Mountain at Disney World for the first time. And I'm also gonna miss Riding it at Disneyland. Disney please don't disappoint me with the Princess and the Frog ride
I hate that Disney is giving in to the politics, I wish it was about the insanity and the real issues that is going on in this world but it's not, it sucks that this ride is paying the price.
This has been in the works for over a year now so it has nothing to do with political things that are happening.Also,keep in mind that Walt literally said he wants the parks to change so even if this movie wasn’t racist,the ride would have been re-themed regardless.

Song of the South is a bit outdated, so I think that the change is overdue. I'm glad that they are changing it. The generation where this movie was popular is on their way out. Not many people alive today are familiar with this movies, so I think re-theming it is a great idea.
NickyHelp oh yea definitely, but I doubt Disney will back out of the Splash mountain reimaging. They want to remove any connection to Song of the South at this point but yes I guess anything can happen. The fact that they didn’t announce a closing date is weird too
