Dip the bottom of your wicks in your oil / butters mix & it will hold your wicks in place. Can also use plain melted cocoa butter for this. Makes life easier 🙂
Thank you! This was exactly what I was looking for. My corn allergy has randomly gotten worse and I'm scared I may start reacting to topicals which are very hard to easily locate/find w/o any kind of corn product or ingredients that contain corn/has corn in the growing process. This was so thorough and I really appreciate that you've shared this info with us. The pen idea is so massively brilliant! I wouldn't have thought of that and since I'm an art supply hoarder I have a ton of excess that could use new jobs. Will be lurking more of your content.
This is so awesome. I can't wait to try this. Just after the apricot oil and just before the lotus extract you added about an ounce and a half of something but I couldn't tell if it was another extract or a different oil? Thank you so much for posting this video.
I love making lotion candles, too. I always get the urge to do so in the springtime. I have a question... Ever tried a lotion candle/mp soap hybrid? Not sure if some butters could be substituted with MP soap, but wouldn't it be awesome to enjoy a relaxing bath with a nice aromatic candle, then blow it out and use all that warm wax as a moisturizing body wash, too? Would that be possible? I suspect it might make a mess of the bathtub, but I really like the idea of it otherwise! Unless there's a safety issue with it, that seems like a fun experiment.
I loved following along with your recipe, especially in terms of measurements. It'll be really helpful as I test different mixtures for my massage candles!
Had a question.....I noticed you added 1.38 oz of something before the lotus extract. What was this ingredient? I'd like to test this formulation this weekend as I love massage / lotion candles.
This is so cool. Never heard of it before. Interesting concept...dual purpose. Wow! Who knew? How do you think up all these things? Thank you for sharing!
Hi! I always recommend all books by Anne Watson. Her no nonsense approach really helps new soapmakers understand and be comfortable with the process of soapmaking. :)
Hello! Do you think adding dried flowers (such as lavender) would be a nice idea? Also are these stable enough to send in the mail as a gift? Or would they melt? Thank you!
I don’t know much about adding dried flowers to candles as I’ve never thought to try it! Do you think they would be a fire hazard? They’re totally stable enough to send through the mail!
@@MrsSoapAndClay Hi I’m new here as well I was looking at the measurements as well and there was something that you didn’t mention in the video in the white jar at the end can you please send that information thank you
Hey! All the wick companies seem to have their own number system, so I don’t know if I can be much help. The wicks I use are from lone star, and for these ones I use their ECO-4, which is the recommended wick size for containers 2-2.5” in diameter. This container is right at 2.5, and since it’s a lotion candle the burn temp is much lower than a regular candle, so I don’t need to size up to the ECO-6 to get a full melting pool. Hope that helps!
Do you know approximately how many ml of essential oils you need for a batch the size you made to get the 5% ratio also is there a recipe list of ingredients and ratios
What are your favorite extracts? I like to use them too. I have quite a few of pumpkin because I caught a sale at Bramble Berry. Would that be ok to add to these candles?
Hey! Pumpkin extract is good for like wrinkles and stuff, right? It would be good to use, but may be a no go for super sensitive skin types. I love buckthorn, green tea, and lotus flower for lotions.
This is probably a monumentally stupid question, and I promise it's not my first and definitely won't be my last, but here goes. Would there be any either benefit or detriment to adding Hyaluronic Acid syrum or Collagen to the mix? Thanks!
Hi! No such thing as stupid questions. This is actually a great question, as HA and collagen are great additives to skincare and are both frequently found in high end products. The problem with both in these however boils down to heat. These are two very unstable compounds at temperatures higher than body temperature, really, which makes them difficult to incorporate into a lotion candle. I would play with including these compounds in a face oil or the like to ensure no benefit degradation. Have fun!
I made a lotion candle, but when I pour the melted wax on my hand after burning it, it smells like burning, even though I put essential oil in it? How can I fix this?
It could work - has a low melting point which would counteract the hardness. I’d likely do a 50/50 split with jojoba and candelilla or beeswax though as too much jojoba can be a bit drying.
😲 Wow! I had never heard of this before? I just started making soap a few months ago, now moving on to lotion bars. I love your soap videos, and I was recently watching videos on lotion just to get more info and I was curious by this video. I love it! I want to try it. I wonder if it possible to do "wax melt" lotion? I will have to experiment. ❤️
New here! You are going to help me so much thank you for doing what you do! Also, never heard of this and I don’t know how lol so I’ll probably amaze some friends and family of mine with this one!

Hi, thank you! What soy wax did you use, is there a general skin safe one? And would coconut wax work?

Could you please break down all the ingredients list? Thank you
I’d like that too. I was fine until the cold oils. I saw the ounces but not what they were. Also, what temp was the hot brought up to?
What is the proper percentage of ingredients for a coconut wax, buriti oil and shea butter candle?
Hi! I don’t know if you mentioned the wax you used, but if not can you share the name of the wax used? Thank you 🙏
Can you recommend a book to read to learn about the waxes, butters, and fragrances? I really want to learn how to do this more.

Thank you for this video! how do you get your numbers for measurement purposes? How do I know how many ounces of wax, butter, and oil I should use?
I caught it by watching the scale. 👍🏻
Sorry, maybe I missed it, but what did you add after the apricot oil right before the lotus extract?
Kindly identify what you poured at 1.38 oz from what looked like a Nature's Garden bottle. T.I.A. Great tutorial video - thanks
Thank you but I’m wondering what the What are the measurements please ?
Can I have the quantity of all the products please. ? I can’t understand from the video
this is a beautiful recipe and I would love to try it but I was wondering or you measuring in oz or in grams?
Hi! I measure everything in ounces. :) Thanks for watching!

@@TbellardNaShawn That was her fragrance :D
Thank you so much for this video.. Could you pls do a video if I had to use coconut wax instead of soy wax?
Would you suggest coconut oil instead of a liquid liquid oil
May you share the type of wick you use with this blend
Would you mind sharing what size of wick you chose to use for this project? Thank you.

Might have missed this but what did you use to scent your candle?
Cocoa butter
Apricot
Is it possible to make wax melts skin safe? So that you can massage the wax/oil on to your skin.
What a good question! Technically speaking, a blend like this will also work without a wick, so I guess the answer to that is yes!
Do you know approximately how many ml of essential oils you need for a batch the size you made to get the 5% ratio also is there a recipe list of ingredients and ratios

What was added after the apricot oil at 1.38 oz?
That’s the missing piece!
Can you add essential oils to the candles?
whats a good company for exact oils
Very cool, would it work as a wax melt? Thank you
I don’t see why not!
I made a lotion candle, but when I pour the melted wax on my hand after burning it, it smells like burning, even though I put essential oil in it? How can I fix this?
you can check your wick
What kind and size wick did you use ?
wow! never knew this existed!
Lotion candles are awesome! Mr Soap & Clay also uses it as a hot wax treatment for his car’s leather. Dual purpose! 😂
What was the second liquid you added with the green label ? Measures 1.38 ..
Also what kind & size wick did you use?
Hello, i don’t really understand english . Can i have the raw material of the recepi here please
could you add coloring to it like food coloring or some cosmetic shimmer glitter?
I wouldn’t put food coloring in this, but you could add a skin safe mica or the like!
Could you use jojoba wax instead of candillila wax? Or is it too hard of a wax?
It could work - has a low melting point which would counteract the hardness. I’d likely do a 50/50 split with jojoba and candelilla or beeswax though as too much jojoba can be a bit drying.
@@MrsSoapAndClay I have tons of beeswax so that works great! Would I need to adjust anything else to counteract the hardness of the beeswax?
What wick is the best for lotion candle? 3 inch diameter?
it depends upon the size of your candle vessel
What percentage of frangeance did you use?
Hey! I keep leave ons at 5%; not as potent as a proper candle percentage, but skin safe. Which is way more important to me. 😃

You could totally make it flameless!
How did I miss this video in year one... What about an alternative for soy wax?
I would go with an e-wax of some sort!
What’s the measurements?
In the video! 😂
Hi, are you measuring in ounces?

What about babassu oil unrefined
Babassu would be great in this recipe! Sub out for some of the hard oils or butters! Very lightweight, silky feel on the skin. 😍

Wwwoooowwwwww!,!
