Bimal Patel, prime minister Modi’s go-to architect, is revamping New Delhi’s Central Vista project, from Rashtrapati Bhavan on one end to India Gate on the other, building a triangular Parliament, converting South Block (which houses the ministries of external affairs, defence and the prime minister’s office) as well as North Block (which houses the ministries of Home & Finance) into museums and demolishing Shastri Bhavan, Krishi Bhavan etc. Watch this interview with ThePrint’s Jyoti Malhotra.

I applaud the Architect for the patience he showed in this interview. He was continously interrupted but he kept his cool. His re-developmental design will certainly be good.
Jyothi is one of those idiots who think they know everything probably twin sister of RAJDEEP. She has the audacity to say INDIANS can only build ugly buildings, it's so naive of her to say so entire stretch of this country is doted with beautiful temples, forts, palaces each having their own character.

None of her questions were for the benefit of the audience. In my personal opinnion she was asking for her own personal obsesions.

I remember the first time I visited delhi in 2013. The first view I got of North block was of mountain of old chairs and furniture dumped one over the other just outside the building. Kudos to this government for having the balls to do what's necessary.

The whole city of Kashi was based on the perfect geometry of temples around the The main Kashi Vishwanath Temple cuz geometry is important if you want to explore deeper dimentions of life.
Many Greatest of beings have visited that place for thousands of years. But now people have made houses on top of many temples, there is a mosque in place of the main temple.
This is the prime example of how systematical destruction of Original culture of Indian Subcontinent happened.

Worst interviewer ever, you cannot be on point, you are asking politically wrapped very loaded questions to an architect. This is the common problem with Indian Journalists, you guys changed your medium to UA-cam just to sound cool.
This seemed more like an interogation than an interview. It would have been more fruitful to understand the project from him and grill the central government (if the need arises) regarding the need for project.

This is Jyoti Malhotra- i have not done my homework on what questions to ask, I will walk in, interrupt, peddle my agenda, somehow try to link HIM with the projects, ask stupid questions - what does a political person has to do with architecture? - this goes beyond me- it's the task to elected representatives to build buildings, parks, monuments for public- right from municipality, state to Central Govt.

Jyoti Malhotra is one of the best Interrogators and investigative journalists there is. As usual, she has done her homework and won't let anybody go off lightly. Brilliant line of questioning. She has put this Architect on the Defensive from the beginning. "Who are you working with"? -- this is the killer question - He stutters and mentions a 100 people from the Speaker to the President to the Ministers - in fact, there are too many cooks already - it's going to be one hell of a mess!!!!
She carries on with a brilliant line of questioning Patel - it is not my job to work out the contents of the museum. Jyoti - I heard somewhere the north block will be housing artifacts till 1857. Whose idea was 1857? Patel - I don't remember, perhaps one of the people in my office and we put it there.
After watching this interview, although annoying from her side, a big relief that she didn't ask him for his opinion on CAA and NRC.
