Yes but it's the fault of the government increasing immigration from cowboy backyard countries. The code and unions know of the drop in standards. I'm seeing it on a daily basis now in Adelaide. It's allowed to happen. We all know who the people in the game are...
In and out quick. Corners cut. They don't even speak out language properly...
I feel bad for anyone who buys a new home in current times..

I worked in Disability I saw it first hand, take into account that these migrants have their lives increased substantially the minute they arrive in Australia, them living on Welfare is like Godsend compared to the situation they come from, so why would they put as much effort in?
Some of these people come from countries where they'd struggle to make $100 a week, let alone earn near $1000
You, born and raised in Australia having to make a reputation to survive in the country have different perspective as you were raised here and have to work for it.@@chrisc47

plumber/gas fitter that I've been using for over two decades (x2 hot water services, new sink/shower/toilet, taps, 1000L rainwater tank, etc) now refuses to train any apprentices. In his words, " IF they come to work, they're either stinking of alcohol, meth or marijuana and they think they're shit hot. Last (and final) apprentice wrote off a near-new work van after taking it on an alcohol-fueled Saturday night joy ride.. "

Need better training for the trades - but we already don't train enough.
The material and the references are terrible, sometimes there are 3 sources for one standard and not every situation fits, then the judgement is up to the architect, engineer, site manager, builder, trade honestly just too many parties involved and it's all a race against time.
Sadly, the prices are just going to have to come up at least 30-40%.

The blame lays at the feet of politicians cause they change TAFE and trades got liberalised once council only carried out all building inspection now it private certification IE it got privatised
Once tradie had to employ apprentices if employing more then three tradies but now it's subcontracted out with many having nil sfa zip none.
Then like now it imports tradies.....like a German mate who printed his own certification which was excepted as real. (He now disappeared with a lot of creditors after him.) Once again government. Buying off the plan thought to speed up home ownership but unleashed the shokies and f😮rueds. Long over due regulation of the inspectors and builders but we are heading for USA style building or only a contractor the rest labourers.

Under appreciated comment in my view. Complexity can be fine if paired with a competent builder - they can ‘fix’ any design short comings with practical solutions.
Most of the buildings i see on this channel are insanely or almost ludicrously complex in the design, relying on a very specific range of products, plastic flashing, angles, box guttering, silly parapets and then caulking and spray foam. Whilst as you say, keep it simple like a standard roof that overhangs walls!!! Shock horror.
But, perhaps if the Certification process was fixed. Too much conflict of interest. Nobody wants BAs back with councils, but somethings got to give.

90% of all houses are D&C which means you put a lot more responsibility back on the contractor or tradesman to know the standards exactly, and/or the foreman to be able to instruct or inspect.

Yeah im curious what the end result is here too. Ideally the builder rectifies all issues however Im guessing more likely nothing is done and the build stops. Its then up to the home owner to seek legal action against the builder to claim damages.... which of course won't happen due to high legal fees. So end result, builder walks away with no recourse and just does this again in the next job... rinse and repeat.

Lawyers, judges, mediators, and others in the broken and or corrupt legal system will drag it out to get what they can out of it first.
Theres many that are mates, and do buddy deals, will ignore or conceal facts, even outright lie, under oath, and don’t give a toss. So to even try to get some remedy, the poor owner will have to go through all that crap first.
Only then, if the owner has poured a tonne of money into paying those parasites, might they get some for of remedy, but you can be assured it won’t match what money, time, effort, and harm they’ve suffered, even if there’s a so called “win”.

You've hit the nail on the head. Our justice system is an industry that profits from all involved so particularly in construction law there are no guilty or not guilty parties, just a cost/benefit outcome all involved need to consider. An owner I know went to VCAT against the builder for major defects. Was awarded $96K in damages, but the legal fee the owner paid was $140K which they will never get back. Is that fair? Royal Commission into this industry I say.

    • @InJusticeAustralia
      @InJusticeAustralia Рік тому

@@harrydautovic9759Unfortunately, even a RC is likely not going to make any, or very little, positive changes.
For if you know the process of, and reasons for, a RC, you will learn that (from my understanding and I’ve submitted to 2, and done quite a lot of research into them, and got to speak with one commissioner of the two- about some heinous crimes being committed against disabled people, with the full knowledge of the courts, lawyers, etc)
bc they don’t actually prosecute, can’t “hear cases”, can’t revisit old cases, and can’t overturn any rulings.
Basically, imo, their focus is to be a public ear, to let the public think they’ve been heard by the so called “govt” , and to leave most thinking “something will happen”, and or, just to let the public THINK there’s a big nasty oversight body watching over that will get their talons out if something is reported.
What the RC CLAIMS to be for, though many after a RC have disputed this- is that they “make recommendations” to the so called govt, to SUGGEST changes to implement.
Same for all industries - there’s NO “oversight body” with any teeth, they do little to nothing with complaints- no matter how grievous, and may even profit handsomely from their little to no efforts. (paid by public funds I add)
I could go on for hours, even months, about the appalling things I’ve seen and first hand experienced, of the failings of these public funded agents.
The conclusion I’ve come to, is that there is NO so called (I write this after years of research into who actually owns these entities, and many are NOT owned by the people… that’s a huge rabbit hole…) “govt” (which means of and by, THE PEOPLE) that is currently “in force” (yep, add them to the list too) that , imo, and many others- that are not just “toothless tigers” just siphoning public funds (often for the PROFIT of its PRIVATE owners…) , are ineffective, negligent, among other things- and - all breach their fiduciary duties , on an epic scale.
So, in my well rounded opinion, there IS NO entity, courts especially, that act “in the best interest” (one of their go-to’s that they use so often it’s like a frekn cracked record), of anyone, but it’s own.
So anyone thinking they will get retribution, let alone FAIR AND EQUITABLE remedy, by complaining, or taking up likely any, legal battle, best be ready to “lose”, even when they “win”.
      Imo, it’s all a con.

It certainly has its disadvantages being from the 30's but everthing is still top tier quality.

The entire thing is absolutely heartbreaking. Building a house in 2023 is a minefield. This is a fascinating show. I spent 2.5 years on a building site as a labourer. Apart from hitting my head on low set scaffolding a couple of times and rolling my ankles 2/3 times, I Loved every minute of it, it was also a real eye opener. The amount of issues and problems that happened were to many to mention. There was the 20mm out of alignment walls from top to bottom, bulging walls at butt joints. 2 weeks of rain on exposed hung gyprock, cut marks on skirting boards from the tiler who had to cut 1/2 mm from the bottom of the skirts because they were installed to low and he couldn't get his tiles in underneath. Because it was steel frame he would hit the studs and jag his machine into the skirting board. Later the silicon guy would silicon the cut marks as they were doing the corners, [this was on about 4 units]. Outside taps in a closed area where the hot water system was with no access to it. Way to many things to mention, one of my fav was the foreman asked me to quality check the painters work and sticker it. The painters were not happy. I think I was technically non-compliant. One of the other foreman was growing pumpkins on site. It would've made a great tv show so the plumber and I would often say. Great times, Sad for the homebuyers though, especially those rain soaked gyprock walls that you could literally poke a finger through.

I've been installing window's for less than a year on commercial sites. When I install a sub seal my tolerance is 2mm from level at maximum.
Whoever installed that sub seal on this job should be ashamed.

Hi, I am from thr UK and just found your channel, We bought a new build in June 2022 and brought a professional snagger in (Steve from Snagsure, Manchester) the developers said, he wont find anything, 324 snags later they where shocked, dont know why as 2 other homes used Steve and most of the issues where replicated, Happy to say all 324 snags have been done, none as bad as some of the stuff you show. Now a subscriber

16:57 you can see beneath the window frame to outside! The builders couldn’t even fully attempt to fix their botched job of sealing the window against the negative fall. Absolutely disgraceful. The whole thing makes me angry that they cut costs everywhere. But when they get found out, they have to spend even more to demo the worst parts and redo. Like the entire bathroom. Idiots.
