Well the Aries was my top pick great boat . The PSC 25 she's strong go anywhere vessel easy to maintain and I say this because I owned one , wish I still had her. As always great show . Thank you Angus SV Violet Walters
It’s s all about the plaid gentlemen! I use to look forward to Captain Q’s videos in the past, but since his retirement, there hasn’t been anything like it since, well, guess what, BoatFools has taken over that mantel. Congratulations.
Ha! The plaid was 100% unplanned but I guess we should have assumed it would happen… Many, many thanks for this comment and compliment! Greatly appreciated.
That first boat reminds me of that old Chester Burnett song '...some folks built like this, some folks built like that, now the way I'm built don't you call me fat, I'm built for comfort I'm not built for speed..." For the uninitiated Chester Burnett is Howlin' Wolfs real name. Lots of nice boats this week guys. Yea, I'm a little late on this one I had a kidney stone removed so I was a little under the weather. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Welcome back! Some say watching our show is like having a kidney stone removed! Hope we didn’t cause it. I had my gallbladder removed a few years back. Brutal lead up to the surgery…Anyway, glad you’re on the mend!
As a San Francisco resident in the market for a boat, I'm not sure I'm entirely happy about them calling attention to the exact list of boats I've had my eyes one 😅
This introduction of 10 differert yachts is very interesting. I agree with your opinions of No1&2 YACHTS choosen among10. Thanks for your good information and valuable opinion.
The Aries 32 needs a LOT of wind to sail well. It will need that motor in too many cases. Catalina 34 and 36 have always been bargains for living volume and reasonable sailing capability. Cape Dory 30 in the single mast rig is a classic and durable boat, but not for very light air. Contessa is a sweet little design that sails better than the specs might suggest due to the hull design. The Vindo will ruin your life unless you want to work on the wood on a regular basis and the deck would need a careful survey. They sail well. The PC 27 is a great boat, but I find it too small, unless you sail alone or with a very small crew, but a great boat. Sailed all of these except the Aries. Other boats to consider: Catalina 30, which is basically a legend. The J30, which is basically a cruisable J24, Pearson 30 and 33, Alberg 30 and great for this price range, if you can grab it...The Ontario 32 for sale right now, designed by C&C. It's in Marina Del Rey. Tons of good boats out there! Just sold my Beneteau 393 and will be soon looking for something a bit larger. The market has dropped a bit, so a good time to buy!
A reasonable assessment. Thank you. Didn’t see any Albergs. The Catalinas are great. A lot of them out there! Good luck with your hunt for a bigger boat. Definitely a good time to buy!
Appreciate the comment! I don’t think we came across any for sale! Those Knarrs are pretty boats! They remind me of the Fin/Haj boats we used to race out here. The fleet has all but disappeared. Thanks for watching!
@@boatfools My Dad and I restored a beautiful 1958 varnished topsides mahogany Knarr in the '70's. After 2 seasons a tree fell on it in the boatyard. They had to tow it out into Lake Ontario and sink it. I loved that boat.
That is a terrible story. But good memories up until that tree came down… Are you an actual Saab Tech? Love those cars. Have owned 3 over the years. My favorite was a 1985 900 Turbo. Such a blast to drive…still a few up here in Maine.
@@boatfools Yes, I worked at a Saab dealer for about 16 years. Used to go to Connecticut for training. Retired now. Saab cars around here are rapidly vanishing. (not as rare as Knarrs yet though) I still have a 2001 convertible I drive in the Summer sometimes. When I'm not sailing! Ha.
Back in 2010 we sailed a Aries from the Bay Area to La Paz and beyond. I would pay special attention to the rudder which broke in half which you can read about it in Lattitude 38. The motors in these westerbeke are great very little fuel usage. Small interior especially the bathroom. I hit my head many time I using the privy. Not fast with a full keel but sturdy.. The price is high.
WOW! Great episode ... to bad that all these boats are on the West Coast!! I really liked the Aries 32 -- very impressive numbers on that boat. I really like that preferred interior of the Orion 27 -- way better than the one that you recently toured -- i can see why that is the preferred interior. Even the Honorable Mentions were great!!! If the shipping wouldn't bankrupt me, I might look out on the West Coast!!!
Yeah, the Aries is a really nice boat! She was my top pick but the combined totals knocked her out of 1st… Definitely some sweet boats on the other coast!
@ San Francisco Bay Area. (Wine Country). Grew up in Jersey. Started boating on Delaware Bay at 7. Vacationed in Florida keys & Cape Cod with friends from Brockton & Revere. Fair winds!
Nice! I don't love the idea of sailing Mexico, but it has crossed my mind buying out there and starting in the Pacific. Nice shirts by the way. 😂 Happy Thanksgiving!!
There are worse things to do with one’s time! The shirts were totally unplanned but to be expected up here! Thanks for the comment and hope you and yours enjoyed a great Thanksgiving.

Orion 27 was the best for me and if I was single I’d try to be the next Sam Holmes. If I was looking for a family first boat Catalina would be my choice.
Solid choices! I’d take the Orion and pull a Sam Holmes. That guy is living his best life!!! And the Catalina is a sweet family boat for sure! Thanks for the comment and thanks for tuning in!
All depends on your intended use. They’re a great, relatively inexpensive way to get on the water and you can keep it in your driveway. Check any potential boat carefully. In short, they offer a lot of utility which might increase your time on the water, which is the point! Thanks for the comment and for watching!

Thanks, Angus! Yeah, that PSC is a sweet boat. The Aries too. She was my top pick!
Thanks, guys, for putting together this video of Bay Area Boats for sale under $40k in my area. You guys are great.
Thank you! It was a lot of fun. Great boats out your way.

Appreciate the comment and Georgia is on our list!
Thank you so much
for coming West. I always
follow you both and
wish you were in
California. I will be watching this video over and over this
weekend.
We had a blast. You all have some nice boats out there - a lot like Maine. Hope you enjoyed it and thanks for commenting and for watching!

When you mentioned SF Bay, I was hoping to see a Knarr or Folk Boat. They still race on Wed night. Great video guys. Always enjoyable!

I think "Noelani" means "Heavenly Mist"(your question at 18:48)
Someone else responded with something similar so it seems like it must be right! Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching!
Great show and winderful bargans. Winter brings a lot of pondering. What is the next ideal boat. The contessa is amazing. Cheers
Hi Neil! A lot of pondering and dreaming…
Thank you for doing a California show.
Possible to do another in LA or San Diego🙏
Yep, we will get down there for sure!

Great boats!
Appreciate you checking them out!
The Vindo 50 was the best deal. So much new stuff on a quality built boat. Not much additional money to spend. Plus it was pretty.
Definitely a super boat. We profiled a Vindo 40 out here in Maine. My word, those are pretty boats!

Like this, Va-lay-ho and Ba-knee-sha!
Ha! Ok, thanks!
Great video! Would love to see boats in the $50k-$100k range and 35-45feet.
We can do that! What part of the country (world?) are you from?

And I love that you still mention LOA vs LWL... I think that this is a great stat to consider, IF you're considering liveaboard.
There are worse things to do with one’s time! The shirts were totally unplanned but to be expected up here! Thanks for the comment and hope you and yours enjoyed a great Thanksgiving.

I like to see your good mood.
It’s hard to be in a bad mood when looking at cool boats! Appreciate the comment!
The name of the Vindo 34, "Noelani" is a Hawaiian female given name, meaning "heavenly mist".
Ah, nice! Thank you!

What ya guys think about the Mac 26m or x ?

Good stuff, thx gents, Noelani = Heavenly Mist
Thank you - as always. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
Another great video but lets not wander too often from the east coast guys!😂
Happy and blessed Thanksgiving to you and your families!
Not to worry! Not straying far for long! Appreciate the comment and thanks for watching! Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours.
@boatfools you're welcome and thank you!
Love the electric. I wish it would make sense.
Do mean by making sense that it’s not located near you? Yeah, it’s a cool boat and setup!
9:15 a “fizbo" just what we need, another acronym …
FSBO: For Sale By Owner. It’s a real estate term, mostly.
Those battery packs are actually dometic 12v fridge/freezer or fridge/fridge or freezer/freezer 😅
Ha! Awesome. Never seen that before. Thank you!
If that cape dory was on the other side of the country, the gears would be turning right now.
There are a bunch on the east coast, too! Thanks for watching!
Sail it back
@@joeldelamirande5792 gotta sell the 27 then
@joeldelamirande5792 just need to sell the 27 first
@ what the brand of your boat
If it C&c 27 there a a race club that loves them
I’m not even considering plastic/glass sailboats anymore strictly metals and mostly in the late 90’s to present. Sealuminum mainly.
tried calling the seacraft 25 dude in sausalito, no answer.
Frustrating. Is there an email address?
@@boatfools thanks for responding, did not see an email. a 25 ft “live aboard” would be ideal for me, especially in sausalito …
So it’s a toss up between a Garcia 65’ and a Deerfoot 74’.
Expensive taste! Not sure we’ll be profiling either of those soon!
Dimly lit poorly ventilated sounds like your traditional monohull in 4seasons of the year.😂🧙🏼♂️😉
Sounds about right!
