I had a 2001 kx125. It was by far one of my favorite bikes. Sold it for $1000 back when 2 strokes weren't worth anything. Just got a 99 kx250, but it's pretty rough. Love the old 2 strokes.
Youre right about the front brake! On my 96 I rerouted a steel braided line the CR style way, and installed an oversized rotor with sintered brake pads. Its definitely a lot stronger! Next would be a newer master cylinder but idk, i kind of like the less touchy feel on loose rocks
I've never owned a Kx. The power sounds like it hits way smoother than a Honda. My Cr feels like a bar fight when it hits and although it's quite fun it also tires me out pretty quick (I'm 50 give me a break lol)
Man I miss my bike like that one, same year! I've not rode a bike in 15 years, so a few weeks ago I bought a yz450f thought I could pick it back up but this thing scares the hell out of me, I can't swing it around like a 2 stroke! Like how fast you was going through there I used to be able to go through anything snow, whatever, but with the 450 when I try to kick around curves it just wants to stand up
Sick video. Was wondering if you had any recommendations for rebuilding forks and rear shocks. My buddies are leaking pretty bad but not really sure where to start. Thanks
Forks aren't too hard depending on the model! I have a video on my channel in the YZ300 series that might be helpful. Rear shock can be a little trickier but still can be done DIY minus finding someone to load you up with nitrogen. I'd watch a couple UA-cam videos, find a manual and go from there! It's a good skill to have!

Although I do love watching somebody ride. It seems like you're riding a little out of your skill level As your life could change or end in a heartbeat. I know you think you have it all under control. I felt the same way in my 20s. But as a former pro who was paralyzed at a race 20 years ago. I know where that means to be safe as possible. I don't say this to be a dick. I'm just concerned man. Please next time take a friend with you. The only reason I am still here is I broke my neck at a competition with paramedics.
It's actually refreshing to see someone who can not only build great bikes but can send them aswell. That kawi eats and sounds unreal. Love it ✌️

Haha probably got that "why is this thing trying to rip my arms off" feeling and now wondering how some maniacs want 450's or 500's 😁
I’ve found that if you swap a modern bikes front master cylinder the brakes feels a lot more stout, just a thought. Great work though man.
Friggen awesome!!! Love these bikes !!!
