Morgan is a fantastic guy. I’ve messaged him a few times with questions and he helped me each time. And he had nothing to gain from it. Great dude.
Same- he has always been really good to me
How do we get ahold of him might need his help if possible please and thank you
I started tweaking when i saw the twisted no solder wire connections, Mista pavich please keep the wires straight, then twist them, pre tin the ends, solder them together. once that's sorted heatshrink them. Then everyone will marvel over your wiring. Also, shame that the 200 blew up, its a cool bike.
Also I wouldn’t mix that 200 at 50:1 is most definitely do 32:1 or 40:1 rather Fowl a plug than lock a motor up.
RIP 200 😂 Just a thought on the charging system, with the rectifier/reg not charging, you may want to double check the ground, some of the powder coat might need to be scraped off to get a real good ground. A quick continuity test from the regulator to the frame would tell you.
Morgan is a seriously good dude. He has always answered all my dumb questions 😂- great dude
I believe the KTM 125 & 200 use CR 125 springs. Also change out the aluminum disc's for steel. That'll keep the oil cleaner.
Heck yeah, shout out for Morgan!!!! Highland cycles rulz!!!!
Living in the uk, you don’t understand how lucky you guys are to be able to ride places like that all over your country

40:1 my friend. Your bike will live longer
30:1 even better
Bruh do 32 to one
It would actually run leaner with more oil in it lol
@@Runk3lsmcdougal yeah but it will still have more oil goofy💀 by your logic if someone was to run 120 to 1 the bike would be even more well lubricated lol
@@Runk3lsmcdougal want be lean on oil but, maybe a tad on fuel air, re-Jet it or Map. Would not matter anyway, but she won’t blow up due to lack of lube.
the fact that he can stay calm when his bike blows up is wild! I would be so mad if happened to me
Morgan is absolutely awesome.
He is such an outstanding guy for the dirt bite community willing to help anybody at any time.
He just wrapped up the suspension for my 89CR250 that was converted with 2006 crf250r front forks. Bummer about your motor
Morgan is a very good guy super helpful and genuine!
im not an engine tuner but I do know suspension very well, something I've learned working on suspension, when you get where you think feels good (in your case you felt like it was rich enough) adjust the setting even more until it starts to not feel good, then dial it back just enough to be near that edge, in the suspension world this tends to the best setup I imagine its very similar in the engine world,
I won't say anything negative about metering rod carbs. I'll leave that to others with common lean conditions. These carbs also need riders with carb tuning experience. Experience with lean and rich characteristics keeps you from either seizing or changing plugs all day. I will mention that I already recommended a STIC Super X carb, as it stomps my SC and PWK.
Good for you keeping your composure at a time like that. A lot of people would have lost their shit. You live and you learn indeed. This is how we learn.
Hey Kincade congrats on the rm sponsor love the content you and all the builders put out on youtube. I personally have an 02 ktm 125 that i bought blown up. all the engine parts are in a box so Im really looking forward to the motor breakdown lol.
The 6 rules of 2 smokin
1. Jet it a little rich all around
2. 32:1
3. Ring its guts out everywhere after its warmed up
4. Piston n rings every 150 Hrs at LEAST, Check Ring gap, every time.
5. Piston circlips go in in either a "n" shape, or "u" shape, not a "c"
6. Don't engine Brake
Agreed
I mix my yz250 to 30:1 with yamalube just because that’s what the manual says and I’m not at all familiar with 2 strokes. It smokes like crazy but it doesn’t bother me, just everyone behind me lol
LOL
Man sorry to see that happen. Glad you didn’t get hurt. Always surprises me how guys want their bikes jetted so crispy and sharp that they risk this kind of result. Seems like a bad move. Most off-road guys should be jetting richer and have it 4 stroking mid throttle and top end.
I had an 09 200 XC and loved that bike. I put a 150 SX CDI in it and it reved to the moon.
Hey Kincade, sucks you blew up that bike, but hey at least you’ll learn something from it. Going on in the future I reccomend to you to run 32:1. It’s a lot safer ratio, and in simple terms, why run less oil in your gas just because. I use amsoil dominator and have had really good luck at 32:1, ever fouled a single plug on it and it burns really clean. Give it a shot and see if it helps! Good luck and I hope to see you rippin that 200 again soon!
Unless you want to clean under it don't remove the plate. Tokyo offroad has a slick kit (others also make them). Might be that the skid covers the bolt, but lay the bike over, pull the bolt and screw in an insert with a hose attached. Lean the bike over and let it drain. My plate comes off easy for the 300, but I still have one and its nice. My wifes, 13 200 has those rad guards. I'm replacing them with different ones. They mounting on the rad guards is horrible. It throws the shrouds out a touch... she has broken both the mounts. New shrouds and like some trail tech guards.
I rode for nearly 25 years in Wyoming and these trails remind me a lot of places I rode.
YK what they say? They always run the best before they blow.
Man that sucks! Thanks for showing us the real stuff though sometimes it doesnt go as planned hahahah
"I know a guy that can fix it"😂
Hope you get it all sorted and working properly, I think your still slipping clutch as well, replace the fibers and plates, put stock clutch springs back in it HD springs usually aren’t necessary for any bike, I know my 150 wants to float the front tire when ripping it on the pipe and that thing never really looked like it was pulling super hard when you where on it
shocked it lasted that long running it lile that
Hey mate, i got an 2011 200 exc also, you said that you feel your gears signs off early, i got the same problem and the solution is easy thing, put on a 125 exhaust, you wont loose much bottom end and the bike will rev to the moon on any gear.
Always tighten the clutch bolts down evenly a little bit at a time to prevent snapping the clutch hub towers
I love my 09.I ride it in the low rpm range most of the time on trails. I just replated the cylinder and put in a new piston.
The lean condition was definitely why it seized and your most likely going to need a cylinder replate along with a piston kit but I must say you have a great attitude.
Nice back flip!!
I hope it’s not too bad when you pull it apart!
Thanks homie!
The way you ride, I’d be 40:1 with the klotz. That will give you some protection
@@williamcrotts7054yea idk about those smart carbs i wouldn’t put one in my bike
I run 32-1 with klotz for my ktm 200
32:1 mix and never worry about it. Fix the jetting and you should be good. Did you take the clutch plates out and inspect or just swap out the springs?
You know the fan system being a all loss system isn’t the biggest deal in my opinion. I have a light on my old yz80 I mocked up and it’s a all loss system. I custom made my own 18650 battery and I made wires long enough for a connector to go outside of my bike for when its on the stand and I plug it in. That’s what I do and it just works. It was a big deal in the beginning but you could maybe figure out a way to put on a bigger stator or try to lower the speed of the fans to Lower the draw. You might be able to turn the fans down and still keep the bike cool. Ride safe.
I personally don't like to run fuel filters on 2 strokes I've seen some filter out some of the oil making a richer mix going into the carb than what you mixed in the tank
Spent 3hrs fishing debris out a my boys yz carb today. I've never had an issue using a filter.
Most of the time people don't have issues but I have seen it happen before the guy had nice dark blue fuel in the tank but when compared side by side to the stuff that's gone through the filter it was clearer than the stuff in the tank and it was being compared in 2 separate bottles just to be sure it was a paper media filter but not sure the brand ever since then they only go on my 4 strokes
I stick with my 1995 technology. I can change my jets accordingly and make it run as rich as I want. I only get 55 mpg on my 350. lol.
Sorry to see the bike blow up, always a rough day but I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say we’re looking forward to the rebuild videos.
Sand the powder coat to bare frame where you’re mounting the ground. Then re test.
Bummer, you blew it up. It definitely sounded lean to me.
I'm rebuilding a 2007 200xc. Hopefully, the engine will last a little longer.
Can't wait for the next video to see what the top end looks like.
Two-stokes never blow up with a decent amount of oil in the fuel.
I never ever run less than 25-1... ever... I am 63, been riding since I was 11... oil transfers heat to the cylinder liner as well as lubricating....
32:1 thats jetted too lean will blow up
That sucks..looks like you were having a great time. My son put a smart carb on his bike. He is having all sorts of trouble with it. He is not new to 2 strokes. Pretty frustrated. I wont be running one. All things being the same a 32:1 fuel/oil ratio will be leaner than 50:1. Oil displaces gas. 150:1 even richer but the engine seizes from lack of lubrication. Old guy thoughts.... What likely got you was riding that newly rebuilt machine with a bunch of other dudes on a big ride. Thorough shake down ride.. new plug, initial WOT plug read/ adjustment. then check everything often. Make sure its dialed, then go with the bros.
hey man I saw you didn't have a patreon. You should think about opening on and doing a monthly q and a and more in depth tutorials. I'm starting to rebuild bikes and have a lot of questions I would love to get answered. I would be an awesome way to make some more revenue with only posting 2-3 simple videos a month.
You need to get some of those butt connectors that have solder inside them.. slip in both (stripped) ends of wire, heat with heat gun and it solders and shrink wraps itself :)
I always did plug chops in all four carby zones to sort out plug color.
Back to watch this gem again just cuz I love 200s 🤣🫴
Next ep next week 🫡
@@KincadePavich 10-4 cap! Love my 23 te 300, my brothers got a 08 200 xcw. I believe it's one of the old original trail bound co. Guys bike but not 100% sure.
Dewd the way you are riding that 200 on the taps you got to run 40:1 for it to last. And the clutch is the same as a 1989 CR125 so parts interchange with Honda, and also older husky te125/150 models which used the same engine.
As a fellow SmartCarb user I think this may have been caused by the ratio of your fuel. I think the SmartCarbs are sent from them with intentions to be used at 32:1 and you could have used the 50:1 but with extreme clicks richer and checking your plugs multiple times. Either way its to late to save her and I'm sure it'll be back and better!
Damn! Hate blowing stuff up but it happens! Time to build it back better!
50:1? I always run 32:1 on every 2 stroke. A lot of Ktms call for 60:1 and Pro Circuit recommends to run 32:1 on them instead
Depends on the oil you use. I use Motorex at 60:1 on my KTM 300 and KTM 150 as per their respective KTM user manuals.
@@waynedejager351 150 wants 40:1, 300 wants 60:1 as per ktms manual.
@@alexfeatherstone6676 My TE150 calls for 60:1 in the manual as well. My first dirt bike and last two stroke was a Honda '87 CR125 forever ago and when I cracked the manual on this husky I couldn't believe it lol. Thing runs awesome though
That crazy i just blew up my yz125 2003 40. 1 not enough oil need 32.1 @@waynedejager351
From what I understand your oil ratio is dependent on the oil you use. Low quality oil 32-40:1. High quality oil like Ams oil Saber say you can run at 100 :1 I've watched plenty of people on yt that say there bike is just fine running 100:1. Me personally I use motorex oil in all my 2 stroke bikes. My kx says I should run at 32:1 buy motrex says not to run any lower than 40:1 I've had no issues. Last thing if ams oil Saber said you could run 100:1, it been out for a few years now. I'm sure we would have heard something about a bunch of bikes blowing up if that ratio was causing damage
Perfect bike size especially for trail riding I like the Beta 200 oil injection street legal
Your a really good rider bro, I wish I had a thimbles worth of skill you have
Doh!! We must rebuild!!
BROOOOO, I LOVE THE VIDS!!!!!!!!
40:1 for the way you riding 😂
Check your crank seals.
Shouldn't have to mess with oil ratio or sieze that fast.
Sorry your bike blew I just did a full rebuild on my bike and the kickstart seems to not be returning so I will have to open it up. Can’t wait to see what happened.. I hear mixed opinions about breaking in a motor..
Get a Midwest mountain engineer clutch lever. Makes a world of difference
The blessing and curse of the metering rod carbs is how forgiving they are.
You’re wiring sure is something else
For that rev range its normal for the spark plug to look white, you were constantly at WOT🤣what piston to wall clearance did you use?
damn 6nm on the clutch lol I always just hit em with a 1/4 impact on my 16 450 never had an issue surprised it lasted so long lol....
Had something happen to me like that, I loaded up my old GasGas EC300 and took it off the trailer to ride and it was locked up... It sucked.
Dude, sooooo unlucky! Awesome video 🤘👌
It blew up because you literally didn’t let the bike break in, your revving it like crazy
No, it didn’t. Go watch the next video. I heat cycled this bike properly and break in was not the issue.
IME, 200's do not overheat and I rode for years doing all day loops in mountains where even 500 xc's ran 5 psi rear tire pressure. Most noobs turnt back. The regulars ran 100% anti-freeze and fans. My 200 had no special preparation, 250 and 300 that didn't always boiled and headed back to camp. Just sayin'
I can’t bay anthing bro and I’m sorry that happened to you of all people I have bin subed hope in the next vid we all see her screening
Yoo Kincade where do you run your powervalve setting at Langston, supertrunk, etc.
The bottom end is way too lean, sounds hollow . Then your mid throttle rips like its the fast kind of lean and fades to way too lean on the top.
A two stroke carb runs great with a rich mid to ramp up into the rpms as the pipe hits up top its good to be a little rich, then a power jet leans out the top for more revs once the motor cleans out.
I never heard your motor clean out it was too crisp in the mid and no power up top
I commented on one of your previous videos about the updated triple clamps, I know this because I tried it, you want the clamps up to 2018. It will still steer like shit with the 22 triples
I thought the front end felt great and didn't have any issues with steering limitations after making those changes either
Sucks that it just was rebuilt and already blew love the vids man
That thing was for sure lean. A short powerband is usually a sign it’s lean
Im running my Ktm 250 SX on 60:1 no issues so far
Second ride? Why did the thing fail? This question is the one that MUST be answered to the fullest extent possible. Otherwise, all we do is throw parts for a repeat. Might want to get into a break in regimen with any internal combustion engine, makes all the difference in longevity.
Watch the next video 👍🏻
Low temp solder connectors, is there any place I can send photos of my wiring tools and methods? Licensed access control technician.
This is by no means an endorsement so please delete if not allowed but a product or similar should help when added to the charging system for aux batteries
Tru am Dual Battery isolator
UTV-SBI-19L
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but even if you have a thicker oil type 50:1 is always to lean
need to see the rebuild
Probably didn’t work because there’s paint on the frame, try and sand it down and try ground it again, it should work. Doesn’t get a good ground with the paint on the chassis
What is the benefit of running the balls instead of regular mousses ? my ktm 250 had mousses and they worked great!
So, with mixing fuel, if it’s a little too greasy it smokes and might not be quite as powerful. If it’s not greasy enough, it starves the machine for lubricants.
Another great video!!!
Buddy I think you needed to do some heat cycles and a bit of a break in period you beat that motor from hour one.
I did multiple heat cycles and a break in period at home
fair enough it wasnt really mentioned in the video and I thought you just started murdering it haha cheers@@KincadePavich
Set up a electric start😂
I feel bad because I just ordered if Rocky Mountain wasn’t even thinking about your link at the time😂
Hey man, I have a rmx450z, and I have been struggling to find a rad fan for it to keep it cool. Does that tusk rad fan work to most models? And since the bike already has a battery and starter system, would it be hard to wire up and such?
As long as you have space to fit the fan behind one of the radiators, the Tusk one should work! All it needs to connect to is the battery.
@@KincadePavich aw how good! How can I go by acquiring one as I'm not in the US? Just through a dealer or something?
Where did you get your spark plug cap?
the backflip caught me off guard
Bro I could hear it run lean on the high end the whole video it made me cringe. I personally run 38:1 to 40:1 with Castor 927. I'd rather lose a plug or three than a top end. Sorry man that just sucks.
Yea I ran a scratch in my clyendir for 40 hours since you can barley feel it and the castor 927 carried it because I just took it apart and the cylinder now had divots but it lasted 40 hours at wide open Mx
How could you hear how much oil he’s mixing in his gas 🤔 Just asking
@@patrikvirtanen5236 I can't hear the mix ratio but I can hear the bike running lean. There is also a smart carb on the bike they're usually pretty reliable the only thing left really is premixing.
@@patrikvirtanen5236 no hes talking about air to fuel ratio, the carb jetting caused the top end to fail because it got too lean, not enough fuel and oil got around. Lean AFR also causes high temps which will make everything expand and burn off oil faster than usual (plus there is less of it to begin with) , very bad for everything.
@@Hanky_Bannist8r nah the smart carb was probably too lean.
I've learned that when a bike is running and sounding too good then it's most likely lean
Bummer dude. Sick video though
right before inclimb you rew it up and sounded like crank bearing going out
Where would I find a regulator like that for a ktm sx250 2013. It would be so good if I could charge a battery with the bike because I have a light on it.
Really nice bike , really nice work ethic . But should learn a bit on jetting 2 stroke , how it should sound and pull.. its sad but its live and learn ! Up in the rev its clearly sound empty and screaming give me fuel
Live and learn , wash fix repeat ❤
I've always just run the 250sx clutch springs in my 200's. Great success *borat voice.
32:1 is the mix 2 stroke are called for 50:1 is for chainsaws lol thats why it blew up
KTM calls for 40:1 to 60:1 in this bike. I've always mixed Japanese 2 strokes at 32:1. I ran 40:1 in this last year, and switched to 50:1 but think I will be going back to 40:1 after I rebuild the engine.
I have a KTM 200cc from 2005 myself that I am doing a full supermoto rebuild on with a white theme like yours. I am just really strugling with finding a clear tank like yours instead of the originally orange tank. Do you know where it could be possible to buy one like yours?
I have a 2005 also
This is the IMS 3.2 gallon tank. If you watch back previous episode of the build series, you'll see the modifications that needed to be made to make it fit. It's very close, but not perfectly intended for this frame.
@@KincadePavich Ohh okay i didt'n notice that, i will try and find one like that then. Thanks for the answer
The first ride killed that motor. 50:1 with jetting that lean is a death sentence
And then you can hear that thing was way too lean badass bike good build and you got to remember those older bikes don't like 50 to 1 they like 32 or more
what helmet attachment do you use for your camera?
