- I take a look at the German Executioner Longsword made by Darksword Armory in Canada, including some cutting tests vs watermelons!
The direction they're "beheading in"😂😂😂
Rocking the up market mic.
EXCELLENT video Jay! Looking forward to future content! You and Misha never cease ti amaze me with so much information, history, and back story on everything you guys dive into. Best wishes with your new channel.
Thanks Jim! This is my second video with a new audio and editing setup - I have some room to grow but I'm excited to see what I'll be able to do with it!
I'm a HAMAA guy and one of the main weapons we train with is the Takouba/Kaskara sword, which is like a lighter one-handed Executioner Sword. Leading with your hands and follow through is the proper technique; any "overswing" is protected by our shields and we focus on multiple hits and flowing into strikes.
The sword is badass af but i'd prefer it fully sharpened
Your mic game is strong.
I have read and reread Gene Wolfe's "Shadow of the Torturer" tetrology. His great and historic sword "Terminus Est" was drilled and partially filled with mercury to give it a dynamic balance in use. Were there any examples in history of a similar system?
That's a great question and one I'm unfortunately unequipped to answer. I believe heavy pommels have been used to counterbalance long swords and arming swords, but not sure about executioners, specifically.
No that is the stuff of fiction.
1:20 I laughed out loud.. because well duh 😂 makes sense. I didn’t think of that
Executioner: “My wife made these masks..”
Love you and Mishas content, and channels, Nice blades, much love and respect, God bless ya
Thank you!
Sweet
Good stuff Jay, have you thought about doing a video about how you sharpen your swords?
Thanks! I kinda did one on the Mishaco channel but will do a follow-up on a longer sword at some point. I touch on it a bit in an upcoming Albion video.
I’ve purchased a custom made armorslayer executioner greatsword. I’ll upload when it arrives and demonstrate my giant sword collection.
Does it feel fragile? Have you’ve actually chopped things?
I hit it really hard against my wood cutting stand which took a chunk out of the stand but the blade and hilt held up fine. It doesn't feel fragile to me.
the sword was pointless but why was the scabbard pointy and not flat headed?
how to become town executioner:
convince everyone you want to kill people the most but are willing to do it legally and at the people's behest if necessary to keep yourself 'good' with the community
In the case of Franz Schmidt, carry on the "family business." In the case of Franz Schmidt's father, be picked out of a crowd at random!
@@jaysblades "how did you raise your son to be an executioner?!"
"well I started him on turkeys, moved to small dogs, then goats..."
Accurate!
@@jaysblades i cant remember the source, but i distinctly remember reading about an executioner who practised by cutting off the heads of the recently deceased
Need more Chinese swords!
I just got a Hanwei Dao in last week and have an LK Chen "Striking Eagle" Jian greatsword on order, and about 3 others on the list! 😁
@@jaysbladesLet me know. Have experience with saber, jian and tiger hooks from praying mantis. 8 Cuts from Wing Chun.
@@jaysblades Best hornbook on Chinese stuff is Dr. Yang's "Ancient Chinese Weapons". Can be ordered on line or at Barnes and Noble.
very cool
