Great video and art style. I really like your work. I also like the brush you are using for the sketching. Do you mind sharing the brush settings? Looks very sketchy in style.
+Brandon Green I'd love to see your approach! I've been working on a sketchbook of monsters and aliens for the month of February. And I must admit, it's been a struggle for me. Maybe I'm just overthinking things a bit Hahaha!
+Brandon Green - Great video; I'd be all for you doing more like it ! Maybe with robots heads or whimsical creatures heads...or full bodies & heads. **Anyways; I have a few questions for you, Brandon: "Whats the program for you're using that creates the actual sketchbook effect? Or if not a program; how was it created? (Also could it be created in sketchbook pro?" [I only actually work using Sketchbook Pro 8 and or Manga Studio EX-5]. ~SKETCHCAT
+Sketchrcat The background is a scan from my sketchbook that I cleaned up to make look nice. The sketchy pencil is a brush in Photoshop. I'm sure you can get pretty close to the same look in SBP
Amazing work, this video gave me so many ideas. Anyone know what kind of mask his using to keep all the color in the original section he makes around the outline of the character?
+Jeffrey Finnecy Thanks! Once I create the outline of the character, I lock the layer transparency by clicking the little checker board button in the layers palette. If I need to paint on a layer above but keep it masked into the original character shape, I hold option/alt and click the line between the new layer and the original layer to make a clipping mask. Hope that helps. If not let me know. :D
+Brandon Green I'll have to try that out and let you know how it goes. Your method for coloring creates such a clean looking effect. I especially like the use of grayish blue for white areas then adding highlights on top
Eyes on stalks, great idea, How about 4 or more eyes. Could have also been a good way to go. Only at 11 mins so please forgive me if it suddenly appears
+David Cairns Yeah, definitely a lot of options out there. I didn't want to get too crazy though, since I needed them to match the illustration they'll be used on. ;-)
Thanks Brandon now I'm pumped for sketching all night. Love your videos
+Christopher Walker Yes! I don't condone not sleeping, but I'm happy to inspire. :) Thanks
make more videos of you sketching in a sketchbook! always cool to watch the master at work

+Steve Harpster Thanks! The brush is an erodible brush #9 that comes standard with Photoshop.
really enjoyed it.. it's been helping me watch your videos. thank you
+roberto sanchez Awesome! Great to hear :D
Awesome! Very inspirational .
+Troy Picou Thank you!
i really enjoy watching :) , thanks for sharing.
+isaac salinas Thanks!
The song on 8:34 is Fire🔥 lol
Those look great Brandon!! Do you think it would be hard for you to do an entire book of aliens?
+Dexter Morris I think I could easily do that. Aliens are a ton of fun to draw since there's no "rules" as to how they look. would be fun.
