About this project: I am writing a weekly sci-fi story to the theme of Isaac Arthur’s SFIA videos. It’s a crazy challenging timeframe to create a good short story in, and to do so publicly is even more daunting. I’m just hoping some good stories come out of this, I have fun writing them, and most importantly, the audience enjoys!

God didnt make you to be that way, you can always fix your problems, itll take a few months but proper nutrition and exercise will always make you better. You can do this!

I am almost 70, a female, needing two knee replacements working 2 days a week at a large 2 acre garden for a master gardener. I love the garden. Unbeknownst to the owner, I experience great pain with all the physical labor. Kinda grin and keep putting one foot in front of the other. Listening to these high quality stories distracts me and takes the edge off. Thank you. I really appreciate your stories.

there are so many heroes in life. you are one, working through even though it hurts. there are many good readers on YT, but a lot of them are hard to find amingst the dross - n.b. the robot readers which are just awful - monotonous, no rhythm, no emotion - awful!!hope you feel better ! :) and have a good day. 🌷🌱

I thoroughly enjoyed this, it was just like a golden age of Sci-fi short story you'd find on Librivox.
I'm disabled & stuck inside on my own most of the time, I also can't afford to buy as many audiobooks as I'd like so I rely on UA-cam & a couple of other websites to find my entertainment, being able to listen to stories as good as this helps make life more bearable.
I absolutely love golden age early Sci-fi & I think I'm going to love your work too.

SFIA! I knew some of the ideas in this story seemed familiar!
I try to schedule it so that the stories come out at the same time, so I have to write before Isaac's videos are out. It's fun for me to see where he goes with the topics and then compare. Obviously, he's got the science angle locked down better than I ever will 😄

Hi, Jarred. I actually have a story that covers the origins of FTL: "To Geddes," but the short answer is they have it. I feel like every fictional universe should get a pass on one Clarke tech, and that's the one I had to have!

Question, are all of your stories meant to be oral? So far this one is endearing. The old man speech pattern is right on the nose. The voice over was fitting for how you describe him. So cool.
Thanks so much, Ebby. 😃 I guess the answer is yes, but I've always thought of stories as oral, as they all derive from an oral tradition from long before humans learned to write. UA-cam is just a crazy modern way to re-create the campfire and bring back the oral tradition at scale maybe. For this one, I had a bit of a cheat code, as the Boston accent Clem Aballi speaks in is my mother tongue. I do have the text available too on Substack for people who prefer to read for themselves.

@@JaelTheRight Thanks, Ebby. Oral tradition is far deeper and far more natural. There are plenty who like to read, though, and I'm super happy when anyone engages with either form. Thanks on the accent 🙂 I wish I had more voice acting tools, and it's tempting to overuse that one tool I know works. I have to resist the urge to overpopulate the galaxy with us Bostonians. There'd be wicked fast stahships all over the place🤣

Ha! I think that's a flattering slip. Quite a few stories take place in similar settings. Quite a few stories visit Dreeson's system, and some take place in the near future on Earth. I write them with the intention the can each stand alone, though.

No way, Jay-Beats. 100% human on the writing (at least I think I am 😆). I will never use a bot to write fiction for me. Full disclosure: there are AI elements in the thumbnails now, simply because I'm not a visual artist. I did use an AI narrator once for a character monologue of an AI character. That's the extent of the AI on this channel.

@@JeeJeeBeats Thanks, Jay-Beats! Agreed on real art. If it were possible, I'd ditch the AI art on the thumbs too, but it's just too tight a timeline week-to-week to collaborate. Some of my newest videos sign off with a sorta joke--the HAM "Human Authorship Movement." The art bots can generate some amazing things, but there's no substitute for the human ability to perceive and create beauty.

Just do the story. If people like you, they will thumbs up. Don't beg for it. And don't beg for donations. If you have quality narrations, that will speak for itself also. The best people who narrate stories let their works speak for themselves. Sorry, but I hear this at the beginning, I'm gone.
Thanks for the comment. I hear that and I actually hate doing it. In a perfect world, I would just narrate the story, as you suggest. From what I understand, it helps far more than it hurts, which is why most large creators do it. Respectfully, politely asking people to help me grow the channel by clicking a button isn't begging, nor is having a link for options to donate when your work is freely available. A lot of people make their living on tips.

Do you have a map of your universe and the alien races/ factions in it?
Thanks, Eserhaudin. Unfortunately, no. I don't, and I don't know that I have the time/skillset to make a map happen soon. As far as alien races, all the main stories in this storyworld contain humans and AIs almost exclusively. There are some questions about an ancient alien race, but there aren't any aliens present in the lives of these future humans. Thanks for the question!
