About Rowe Writes: • Introducing: Rowe Writ...
About this project: I am writing a weekly sci-fi story to the theme of Isaac Arthur’s SFIA videos. It’s a crazy challenging timeframe to create a good short story in, and to do so publicly is even more daunting. I’m just hoping some good stories come out of this, I have fun writing them, and most importantly, the audience enjoys!
Thanks for stopping by!
This story is Episode 6 in "The Misfits" series. If you'd like to catch up on all the episodes, you can check out that playlist here: ua-cam.com/play/PLWl-Jc_I2wPAsngY7MCID9sS_98Y2siT5.html
This installment makes it official: Sebastian Pollack (aka Transom), Carolina Dreeson, and Maícon (the prime) will henceforth be considered regular characters in the Misfits series. So "the Crew" has been expanded beyond Burch and the rest of the gang aboard the Yankee-Chaos. And, in case you missed them this week, Burch and the rest of the crew will be back next week for Episode 7. I hope to see you then!
I am absolutely loving this series! Can't wait for more.
Thanks, George. More next week!
These just keep getting better. I listen to these initially in a random order, and now as they come out. My wife pointed out that Clem was the junkyard escapee. I had totally forgotten what that guys name was. I almost need a spreadsheet or flowchart to connect all the stories, but I think that would ruin some of the magic of bumbling through like I have. Keep up the good work, man.
Thanks, greyghost! Eventually, I am going to have to get the spreadsheet going. Maybe I can get GPT to build me a model! Oh, man, I'd be afraid to even ask, because then it might start writing spinoffs! Aaaah!
I want a spreadsheet/flowchart too!
@@JohnKing00 Me three! 🤣
me four, but I know what you mean about bumbling through, too. Having just a glimse into something epic, right? Sometimes nice not to have the big picture and bathe in the mystery. Hey, do mist and mystery have the same root somewhere, both veiling?
Dang young man! I love the Misfits story and you make my Thursday nights best of the week! Greatly appreciated and many thanks✌️
Thanks, vg! So happy to do it. You won't have to wait long for the next one!
Absolutely love there is real, often poignant dialog that doesn’t rely on gratuitous cursing, F bombs or sex. Very few authors handle language as you do. How the different characters express themselves gives us an unusual sense of that character in the story.
Cheers, Noah! 🙏😃 I like to treat them like they're real people, because in some universe, maybe even this one, doesn't quantum mechanics dictate that they are? 🤔😵💫
Another great story in the series. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks, Ron! Glad you're enjoying them!
I just got back, from a night of camping in the rain with my son. We were testing out some new gear. Opened up my phone to find this. Now I can kick back and relax to another story. Thanks again for sharing these.
Awesome! BTW, just finished up a looong comment on your other post. Glad you're enjoying!
Fantastic narration and story. Keep up the good work Mr. Rowe.
Cheers, Herbie!
We are suppose to have thunderstorms this weekend and this story will no doubt come to my mind. Thanks P,#,
On the bright side, kennyjoe, if it gets bad you can always think about what's not falling out of the sky and flying through the air here on Earth😆
Many thanks and much gratitude for the support☕☕☕🙏🙂
Thanks so much for your readings
My pleasure, charles. Glad you're enjoying!
Well, I have to say you write better combat veteran characters than most writers. It's refreshing not to have to egnore a badly writen character to enjoy a story. You have no idea how many times I have read/heard another writing's SF character do something a boot wouldnt do. It breaks the emersion when someone doesn't fit into the role. You seem to do a lot of reaserch into your characters' development. Great work looking forward to the next one.
Thanks, SC. Glad to hear it. If/when I get characters right, I think it's mostly about taking each character seriously--respecting their perspective. That's the goal anyway.
@@RoweLit I think Transom has become one of my favourites. Probably due to the fact you have humanised the SF guy. So many people forget that soldiers are people too. No matter how skilled and untouchable they are. At the end of the day, they have people they care about just like anyone else.
He's one of my favorites too, SC. He's both fun to write and far more complex than meets the eye. It's also I case where I'm in a similar position to the reader at this point, because I'm in the dark about how his story will develop/end. I do expect he'll surprise me, probably often and a lot.
Wow!
Thank you for the upload - I managed 50 minutes - must admit it felt like hours, but realising this is author narrated, I look forward to rising popularity making other narrators record it. So often folks read their own work in a dead pan :)
Cheers, Steve! We writers tend to not be the most emotive group 😂 So that's a fair assessment.
@@RoweLit Pleased it didn't come across as criticism of the work, which is much appreciated. I had thought it reminded me of (most?) book readings I've attended and only twigged afterwards that it was just so. Heck, even many who start out as performers read in this style (Mike Harding springs to mind)
I'm really enjoying the Misfits series. Very good character development along with a great story line. Plus, I like manly men/intelligent women interaction - not so common in a lot of genres. I also enjoy reading the 'more about this story' sections. Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Gramma! Glad you're enjoying!
PE. You’re brilliant. The stories remind me or Asimov. Very concise and precise. No extra words needed for such vivid images. If you’ve published anything, please let me know where to find it
Wow, thanks, Peter! Humbled to hear my work reminds you of the best!
You can find my first two sci-fi novels and my other works on my author page: www.amazon.com/stores/P.E.-Rowe/author/B07NXMPHB6?ref=ap_rdr&store_ref=ap_rdr&isDramIntegrated=true&shoppingPortalEnabled=true.
Unfortunately, I don't have audiobook versions for my novels yet. I will, though, for my forthcoming novel. And, of course, the collections will all have audio versions, which all originate here.
This was the second story of yours I ever listened to. Man, was I confused but I still enjoyed it. This time around it was even better.
Thanks, MJ! I am always wondering about how much to explain or recap installment to installment, but I usually rely on the fact that people are much better at picking up an adventure in the middle than writers give them credit for. After all, if I can come into a movie halfway and figure it out and still enjoy it, the audience can too.
Yes, I think you balance it well. I actually picked up Misfits here, listened to the end then went back to the beginning. It was a total Star Wars order of 6, 7, 1, 2, 3, etc. I'm happy to have had a different experience.
(This is, of course, with random other tales littered throughout the journey.) @@RoweLit
Can't wait for the next part 🚀
Coming right up, shadlow!
I think the work is excellent. Thank you very much.
Cheers, Ed! You're quite welcome. Glad you're enjoying!
Starting out as a rag tag delivery crew turning into a galactic conspiracy, this is a wild ride.
Cheers, Maurice! And it keeps getting wilder 😃😲
The RoweVerse is an amazing place.
Thanks, MH! As a resident since 2022, I have to say, I kinda like it too 😃
Another great story. I’m grateful. Thanks!
Thanks, CC! Glad you enjoyed 🙏😃
I love ALL your stories. That's why I subscribed.
I appreciate it, Alfred. Thanks!
I need to start this series from the beginning. I’m enjoying the storyline!
Thanks, David! Hard to believe, but there's 23 now 😃
Living in a hurricane prone area, this one resonated with me. The only thing that I feel you didn’t convey strongly enough was the constant roar of the wind. At those speeds it would have made hearing others talking (more like yelling) very difficult ( just for future reference). Great story though, especially the breakdown after the storm passed! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks, Keith!
Going back for a second run, I love these characters.😊
Cheers, Karen! Getting ready for Season 2 myself!
Transom's attitude is so engaging.
Thanks, Martin! He's one of my favorites to write. I never really know what he's going to do or say!
@@RoweLit in one episode, he calls his pilot an idiot. Had to laugh. Wasn't expecting that.
Disdain for near everybody
I will have to go back and see how you managed to write that.
Another good story!
Thanks, axel! More on the way 😃
As ever - thanks for superior content.
Thanks, Michael! Glad you're enjoying 😃🙏
Awesome.. Thank you so much.!
Thank you, Alan. Glad you enjoyed!
Great thanks for sharing
Cheers, Dean! Happy to 😃
Thank you for another great story😊.
Thank you, Tony! Glad you're enjoying 😃🙏
Great story. I can't wait to learn more. I missed the release sorry. I have been following hopefully not the start ww 3 too closely. It is strange to watch the unfolding real-time of the Ukraine Russia NATO war.
Thanks, Todd! Always here for whenever you're ready 😄 As you note, there's always way more important stuff going on in the real world. Hopefully this can be a place people can find a brief reprieve.
Dude, I'm having to space these out so I don't burn through them too fast!
Thanks, Benjamin! One a week is about my max 😂 Wish I could go faster, but I would🤯
Oooooooo❤
Awesome
