*Very well-made, stable, comfortable **enjoyable.fishing** recommend love that everything fits in bag. Easy to paddle for single person as well, however might be too heavy to carry by one.*
I've found that my Vapor 10 is a tank on the water. It is stable when paddling, and you can lean pretty hard side to side with out going over. The only time mine has sent my swimming is when I tried it out is a stand up paddle board. Did just fine standing, but at 6'2" tall as soon as tried tried to paddle I went over. The real down side to a swamped recreation type kayak with no sealed bulk heads is the degree of difficulty draining the cockpit while in water over your head. They only have a small bit of foam to keep the craft from going to the bottom so you have a lot of water to remove. I gave up on middle of the river/stream recovery and swam/towed the craft to the shallow water to make it easier to drain. Now the tiny drain hole on the side behind the seat with a 1/2" raised lip inside of the craft, I hate it. I always seemed to need to pump or sponge out the last 5 gallons or so. I finally had enough of that old drain and went to Wally World and bought a 2 dollar screw type expanding hull plug. I drilled a 7/8" hole behind the rear carry handle and wah lah. Clean up and drawing is so much easier.
That slightly rounded snout looking front looks awesome. I had an Old Town Loon 111. Out of all my Kayaks , it was the best ever. ,. Now that I've seen the Vapor 10. I love the design. It's on my Christmas list. Beautiful boat
I've had mine for a while now. Going thru a tight area with vegetation on both sides is challenging with the rods out on the angle like that. I cut in two pieces of 1 1/4" pvc next to those pole holders and now my rods stand up straight. I also removed the back of the seat and installed a new seat made by Ascend. The kayak was great the way it was, I just tuned it up a bit.
I’ve owned this kayak for 5 years and it’s literally my best friend. I use it almost everyday. I bought one for my ex girlfriend and still have it for taking my buddies out. It’s an absolute great kayak.
What an excellent review. Good job on this video. I bought mine a couple of months ago and I love it. Took it out 4 times already, would have been more but the weather hasn't been that great here. Anyway, your video is very informative. Thanks for posting.
+StJohns River66 I think my yak tracks pretty good for the most part. I have to work a little harder when its windy or the water is choppy, but I have no complaints really. But then again, this is the only yak I ever owned, so I can't compare it to any others.
+StJohns River66 I've been seriously considering a pedal driven kayak for my next purchase as I only use my kayak for fishing; and this seems to be the perfect solution. Hobiecat is the most popular pedal driven kayak, but they're too expensive. I asked Old Town if they're going to produce a similar model, and they told me they're working on it; and it might be available sometime this year. So we'll see about that I guess.
This is my first kayak. I have never flipped it and i have been in fairly rough conditions. My biggest complaint is it is really hard to clean out.The position of the drain is horrible. You have to tilt it over and back to drain and after a while that gets really awkward. Mine didn't come with that rear compartment cover that some of them have now so that gets full of water on rough days. But other than that its a good yak. the seat isn't great but i have seen worse. There is plenty of room inside and even space behind the seat where i put my cast net in so its out of the way.
We rented 2 of these - the 10' and 12' and the rental company drilled a 3/4" hole on the top front of the boat to make it easy to drain. I went through heavy rapids and my kayak filled with water. That was a lifesaver to get to shore, grab it by the back of the boat and just start lifting it up and allowing all the water to simply flow out. Wanted to mention that to you as a way of solving that problem. As soon as I buy my own Kayak, that the first thing I am going to do.
Seat pads are available on ebay to solve any problems. You can find this kayak cheap, and are easily modified. People buy them , and don't use them. I am looking for a spray skirt to use on the bay when it gets Choppy.
I own this kayak. It’s pretty uncomfortable but I bought a seat cushion and it helps. If you get this you ABSOLUTELY need to carry a bilge pump. And if you kayak small creeks the rod holders are worthless. I’ve obtained a Topwater PDL 106 which is way better, way heavier, and way more expensive.
I wonder how this would compare to the new Ascend A10? The A10 is a little cheaper and has a removable seat. Its an open cockpit like a canoe now almost. I am trying to decide on a cheap sit in or more expensive sit on for creek fishing and some lake.
I have a Wilderness Systems Ride 115 sit-on-top. I love that thing but it's heavy. Then I bought a Old Town Vapor 10. I really like the Vapor hull but the seat is not very good, it's very bad. I would use the Vapor more if the seat was better.
Had that boat for a week before i returned. Those things don't track worth a darn. Mine also hooked a turn whenever you stopped paddling. This sucks when sneaking up on a fishing spot. The only plus was it was very roomy. i ended up getting a wilderness systems aspire 105 which is far superior to this boat.
Ok I gotta ask cause I'm keeping up to date with all your videos, but how is it casting out of a sit-in? I watched your last couple in this yak and it looked like you were cramped for elbow room.
John Bolton I wouldn't say I really felt cramped... for sure there is more room on a sit on top, but I feel like casting is not an issue form this sit inside. If anything, because it's a 10ft, someone taller might get a little cramped in the leg room if you store tackle box and everything by your feet. But even then, I really didn't feel cramped in any way. The cockpit area is pretty large. When you cast, you're sitting up well above the sides.
Great intro. Excellent review that made me decide against buying one because it is all about the seat. Thanks and do us a favor and wear your pfd so you can make us more videos. Get inflatable suspenders if you don't like the bulkiness. Ok sorry for mothering. hah
marcos juarez Thanks! It's actually 2 products from go-mount, the go clamp and the Go Flex Arm. They make great gopro mounts for various activities.. and very affordable.
I've been looking a kayaks online, but I have an important question I can't find an answer to. I'm 6'2" on height, and skinny. would I be alright in a 10ft kayak? please/Thankyou
Joshua S Never really looked at it back when I got my FS12T, because at the time I wanted a 12 ft. And, for this 10 ft, I wanted to try a sit inside from a different manufacturer. But, I hear the FS10t is a great yak as well.
It's stable if you're small/medium. To be honest, I am about 160lbs, and it's perfect for me. Stable and tracks well, but anything over my weight I can't recommend. I had a hard time carrying a 12ft, this is easier for me to carry/transport. Thanks for watching!
STK's Adventure Channel thanks for responding. My job gave me a 12footer. I come in at six5 and 205. I prefer a sit-In as opposed to a sit on but I still worry about flipping. Happy fishing
Ken Wood thanks for checking out the review! I’ll keep the music volume in mind. But, why would I mention a 2 seater on a review of a 10ft 1 seater kayak? And, not all kayaks have or need a motor hookup. Thanks for the feedback!
I have this kayak and it'sa nice beginner kayak, but if you're getting a kayak to fish I would not recommend this kayak, and the seat is not the most comfortable seat imo
Jordan, what would recommend? I am looking to buy a well made kayak for pleasure and some light fishing. The Old Town from comparing to Pelican, Perception, had the stronger hull.

Nice to see someone do a real review who is not a company rep!! That way I can see what works and what does not! Thanks!!

I just got a Heron 9xt, its sick.. its.. cozy at 240lbs.. perfect for mobbing around ponds and small lakes.. wakes are sketchy..

I've owned this yak for 2 years and love. Caught a lot of fish out it. good review!
+Jason Tice thanks for watching! I love this kayak

Great video, thanks! I am thinking about getting one of these kayaks.

Great review. I had one, but my wife claimed it, so I bought a 12 ft vapor to replace it. i LOVE THE 10 THOUGH
That happens...
Which one do you like more? The 10 ft or 12 ft.? I'm 6'4'' and wondering which one to get.
just wanted to say i am buying this kayak tomorrow and i also have a 4runner.
Awesome, Mike! It's a great kayak, and fits well in a 4Runner. Enjoy!
I have both too. Awesome pair!
How do you load it in your 4runner?
Fire Phillyscannon
Strapped it to the top. Being 10 Ft it would not fit inside unless it hung out the back. Use lock down adjustable straps.
Upside down.

Just bought the vapor one.I think it’s the same one not sure. It’s my first kayak
What paddle model and length are you using with the Kayak?
Is the Vapor 10 the same as the Angler DLX? I don't see any difference....thanks, great vid

Awesome review! I have the same kayak and was wondering what kind of stand is that you're using in the front cup holder?
marcos juarez Thanks! It's actually 2 products from go-mount, the go clamp and the Go Flex Arm. They make great gopro mounts for various activities.. and very affordable.
Hey really appreciate the info. I'll check both those items out for sure!
Is that at sandy park
I've been looking a kayaks online, but I have an important question I can't find an answer to. I'm 6'2" on height, and skinny. would I be alright in a 10ft kayak? please/Thankyou
zech Yes, there's lots of leg room and capacity of around 300lbs for a 10' kayak.
I’m. 6.2 245 with a 42in waist would i fit in it?
will hold 325 lbs
Are you able to stand and cast in this kayak? How stable? Thanks!
Did you look into the Ascend fs10 angler? im debating on that or this old town...
Joshua S Never really looked at it back when I got my FS12T, because at the time I wanted a 12 ft. And, for this 10 ft, I wanted to try a sit inside from a different manufacturer. But, I hear the FS10t is a great yak as well.
the 12 foot angler only weighs 56 pounds BTW. ..
Yea and extra 250$....
How stable is it ?

music too loud for quiet talking. no mention of two seater. no mention of motor hookup.

@@summertimeken thanks for responding. Does it come in two seater? Does it have option for trolling motor mount?
Ken Wood I gotcha... no this a small one person sit inside. I don’t recommend putting a motor on this kayak at all.
I have this kayak and it'sa nice beginner kayak, but if you're getting a kayak to fish I would not recommend this kayak, and the seat is not the most comfortable seat imo

Turn your dam intro music volume down, its enough to kiss someone off and not even watch your video....
