    Greetings from Maine! Just found your podcast thanks to Margaret from My Wonderful Knitting LIfe Podcast. Love all of your projects and I especially love that you walk and knit. I’ve made the Buds and Branches minus the buds as well. Happy to follow along with your knitting journey. Thank you for a wonderful episode.

    The test knit looks lovely (as do all your knits) there seems to be lots of people out there knitting with mohair alongside fingering or DK. I must say the effect is stunning! I also watch those twins who knit podcast. You all provide such inspiration and my Ravelry wish list grows every week. Walking and knitting?I wish I could do that but seeing as I am probably one of the most clumsiest people I know guaranteed I would not only end up in a ditch, but also a high contender for imminent surgery! Case in point, last time I tried to read on the treadmill I fell off……😂

      Oh no Michelle. Maybe walking and knitting isnt a safe combo for you. How bad would it be to fall and break your wrist when walking and knitting and then you couldnt knit for months. I would want to cry! Actually, I am sure i would cry.

    Madeline Tosh is reviving Shibui’s Silk Cloud (as well as its Pebble), under the Tosh name. Same specs-same mill, same fiber content and yardage, same everything - according to Tosh. Available in the spring. Think the idea is to see how it goes and then widen availability and/or revive more of the Shibui line. Can’t wait! Silk Cloud is the holy grail of mohairs, if you ask me.

    Hi Tash - thank you for a great video again - I am really enjoying them. I am currently using the patina yarn to make sweater no 28. It’s soooo soft and warm - however really tricky to unpick! I love it and have enough in my stash to make a Christmas ranunculus with the old gold colourway that Beck chose for her sweater. Keep up the great work and all the tutorials are fantastic too . X

    Another fantastic podcast - Thank you!! I'd love to see a provisional cast on tutorial and how you use it making the Oslo hat. I tried making that hat without the provisional cast on, and I did not get the stitches aligned, needless to say, I wasn't happy and frogged it. I am sure the provisional cast-on is the answer. Regarding your tutorial list, I am particularly interested in 4-10, all great topics. I am interested in knitting the skimmer socks, so learning how the short rows are done would be a time saver. That project bag you received was adorable. Thank you again, Tash!

    Hi from just up the road (in Newcastle)! Great to see another Aussie really enjoying knitting! Your projects are so beautiful. I had a question (or maybe it is a tip) for getting the straps on the camisole to the length you want without torturing the yarn too much - pin them on at the back and then hang it on a coat hanger for a few days. This allows the garment to drape and “stretch” with gravity exactly as it would with wearing. You can give it a light tug a couple of times but you shouldn’t need to torture it too much. You should probably measure pre and post hanging, just to see if it does grow much. After hanging, you just try it on again and sew the straps to the right length. It is probably best to leave it until the rest of the garment is finished, though …

    • @mostlyknitting

    Hi Tash, I just love your podcast. I'd be very interested in the tutorial about knitting together the brim.... I am so happy to see knitting from different parts of the world and learn from each other. That's what I love about these new technologies. My knitting took of when I was about 13 years old ( 50 years ago!) and started to knit sweaters for myself. The patterns were in magazines and I had to figure out how to read patterns etc. And then we only knitted sweaters bottom up and had to sew them together, which I hated and I started to crotchet them together. But now we can learn so much from each other and people like you are so generous with sharing your knowledge. So thanks again for your podcasts.

    From the vault: Did the publisher have an errata for the pattern on how to add the buds on to it?

      @mostlyknitting  8 місяців тому +1

      There was errata for the pattern but it didn’t include how to do the buds. I saw someone mentioned that as a ravelry comment 3 years ago but no reply. It probably isn’t that difficult a stitch to do. I do have a couple of embroidery books somewhere so I will start there. :)

    Hi! Just found your podcast and love it! A question: I’m knitting the Stockholm Slipover and don’t understand when she says to pick up stitches with the short end of the yarn on page 3, did you understand that? I’ve emailed her but she hasn’t responded, thanks. Your best looks great, love the blue

    • @mostlyknitting
      @mostlyknitting  7 місяців тому +1

      Thank you so much. I can actually answer the question and hopefully it makes sense. You know how you always want to make sure you when you pick up stitches that you have the yarn oriented correctly and you pick up working with the ball of yarn and not the tail? Well, for this, you actually want to pick up with the tail. So you need to leave a long enough tail to pick up the required amount of stitches. Then you come back to the ball of yarn, which is attached there where you started picking up stitches and work a RS row. I hope that makes sense.

    There's no reason you can't pair ghe bright red with a muted, variegated mohair and make up another hat maybe. That would tone it down to a volour you might enjoy more. It's amazing what mohair can do with yarn colours. It really takes over. I have z variegated plum, grass green, and cream wool that I paired with duck egg blue green mohair, and it totally changed the colour. I loved the original colour, but I love the new colour even more.

    Is it a half-twisted rib?
    I think a darker brown would look nice as the third (top on the bodice) color of the wheat motif!

      Hi Jamie
      Hmmm, a half-twisted rib means you just twist the knits but not the purls. But still, every row, not every other row. A full twisted rib would be twisting every stitch and it looks the same from both sides (not done that often).
      I like the idea of a brown on top for the wheat. Thank you for the suggestion! :)

    Greetings from Scotland. Always enjoy your podcasts. I wondered if I might ask a double-barreled question regarding colour work, I know this is a big ask at a time when you are extremely busy.... so I don't mean on your next podcast😊 Your colour work always looks absolutely impeccable. I would like to start knitting some colour work but don't understand - does every colour work pattern have a jog at BOR, how do you fix it, does it not matter, (i.e. do what pattern says,) Are there ways of telling if a colour work pattern lends itself to being more seamless .... I am not a beginner, but I am picky and colour work mystifies me. best regards.

      Hi Heather. Thank you for your lovely comments. I have found that any possible jog in colorwork is never enough of an issue for me. It usually happens at the centre back and it isnt even something that anyone would notice, even a seasoned knitter. I am happy to show a few "backs" of my fair isle sweaters to show where the jog occurs and how it really isnt noticeable. Good question though. I've never been to Scotland. I really hope to some day soon. xx

    Once again, thank you Tash. I absolutely love that Armor Sweater. Will be on the watch for when the pattern goes live. I'm almost embarrassed to admit that I am also knitting a Stockholm Slipover in Rowan Felted Tweed and Kidsilk. Mine is grey. Can you send me the contact details for your friend, who is refurbishing laptops, iPads for people in need. I have several in great condition, just a few years old, that I would love to donate.

      I think the Felted Tweed and Mohair is a great combo. Looking forward to seeing yours!
      I'll put Annette's details here and I will also do a comment and pin it. Thank you so much for being willing to donate. i am sure quite a few people have these items kicking around but not sure what to do with them.
