And that term has been embedded in my brain ever since my childhood. LMAO. I've used it for decades. When she tells him to stifle...that was television GOLD.
@toroniman~~Lol~~I remembered this episode like it was yesterday~~I was babysitting my niece and woke her up because I was laughing so hard~~My 2 year old niece was laughing with me when I took her out of the crib~~Hilarious~~Then I thought, "Will this happen to me"??..lol~~Luckily I never got like that~~But I remember my Mom did and my Dad left the house and said "Later"~~lol~~🤣🤣🤣
The performance of Jean Stapleton was memorable in this episode. When a character is forced to go against the grain it is funny Archie unable to control the situation with Edith

Poor Edith. Menopause is no joke. So much physical things going on that it leaves a woman feeling like she just got repeatedly run over by a Sherman tank. Everyday for years.
As someone who's enduring menopause, I needed this. Some aspects don't apply...I'm alone, only my cats have to deal with my moods. I try not to yell at them, tho. But, thanks for this....
In his way Archie was trying to be kind. That’s what made this show great: depth of character. Archie was mostly awful, but sometimes you just couldn’t help but identify with the guy. And Mike was pretty insufferable sometimes but he was a good guy who cared about Archie. Good writing.
thank you, finally someone that GETS IT. Most of the comments I see here are people complaining about "that commie liberal Rob Reiner" and praising Archie Bunker as a role model. Both characters were far from perfect, and that's what made the show so special.
What is it--are these mood swings? My own experience has been this--I'll be sitting at the computer and feeling okay. Then, the next minute, out of the blue, I'll be heavily perspiring! It's horrible--feels like I just emerged from a steam room!
I know! I started the worse portion just as my hubby & I were starting out on our retirement dreams (full time RVing around the US) - he put up with a lot with me while we were getting use to being with each other 24/7. I remember many a day I would just start crying & poor Larry couldn't understand 🤯. We learned that just getting a long sit down with hugs really helped me remember that he really did care about & needed me (fear of him leaving me was great). I thankfully didn't have night sweats, but the mood swings & daytime hot flashes were bad enough. I got over the worst part in 1 year (probably was perimenopausal for about 2-3 years prior & slowly by 60 was done) I Believe you're going to make it & come out better for it! ❤😊
This episode was the funniest one of the entire series! I loved it when she said STIFLE-to Archie! When she gets really mad at him and throws the phone at him, I laugh as well. My mother felt like doing that to my father alot of times when I was a kid because he was being a real jerk to her.
Just remember one of the best shows that were ever made and Edith was one of the most beautiful characters of all that is God bless ,. The show and all that were in it it's true absolute one of a kind ...😊😂❤️.
Jumping into an outside ice bath during a blizzard in the middle of Winter wouldn't help a 'hot flush'. I think this was the first show to mention the unmentionable 'change of life', right?
I went through a difficult divorce when mine began, so my being moody and cranky could have been from one, the other.....or both ! LOL. Although, in the years after my decree was issued I don't recall any symptoms as bad as Edith's were, however, my mom did have a difficult decade-long phase before it was all over.
My " husband" wasn't there for me in menaupause. Not one bit. I gave him 6 beautiful kids and we have grandchildren and I'm in the middle of a divorce. He was the wrong choice. Relish and love your husband they are rare...
Back when I was growing up, this was a classic. My father and my mother would watch this show every night. It was something that I watched with interest because my house was never like this. Both my parents were alcoholics and all they ever did was scream and yell they would sit there drinking beer until they were drunk and screaming and yelling would start, but it always started around 5 o’clock with the news and then the bunkers
This was great, but they left out the best line of episode when Archie had finally had it and told Edith he’s given her 15 minutes to come out of menapause😂
JEAN STAPLETON!!!!!!!! She’s so brilliant it makes me weep.
Probably the funniest episode in the entire series. Archie coined the phrase Groinocologist…😅😅
I use that expression sometimes and get a hardy laugh from my friends!! 🤪🤪🤪In my 60's but feel sooooo much younger!! 😱
Lionel's Engaggement Party is my favorite.

Such a ground breaking sitcom that tackled every social subject imaginable. Two comic legends that still resonate laughs out loud 50+ years later.
They both were such fantastic performers in their roles!

Iconic show!
How Edith started screaming right before the end of the video is hilarious.
Archie trying to keep his composure😂 LMAO..smh...then he lost it, and popped a Xanax😅
Archie is brilliant going from calm to losing it. Edith too, also going from normal to menopause.
Ignorant! Menopause is normal.
Poor Archie just trying to keep the peace before he goes crazy 🤣
Poor Edith. Menopause is no joke. So much physical things going on that it leaves a woman feeling like she just got repeatedly run over by a Sherman tank. Everyday for years.
Menopause didn't bother me too much except for anxiety attacks. Sure was glad the monthlys were gone.

I saw the "Pope" Diamond and Archie and Edith's two iconic chairs on the same DC trip as a child

The Pope Diamond.
Archie's malapropisms are the best.
Damn she told him about the pot roast 🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I am going through perimenopause so I can relate to Edith .. thankfully i am single and don't have worry about driving someone crazy..lol

'Mental pause' lol

Jean Stapleton was by far one of the greatest character 👏 actresses in television 📺 history!!

I think it was, I remember that one from 25 years ago. I feels bad for Archie in this one, 😂 hahaha.
I remember this. For its time it was a great show. First time they showed a "real" family. No more Leave It To Beaver or Father Knows Best.

What we learned from the show was we have to have humerus fun and lots of communication laughter makes me forget about all the stress
Edith was the glue that held that show together
Edith apparently likes it when Archie gets upset and yells at her; she knows her cares what she does.❤️
