Out on the Tiles In the Light Hey Hey What can I Do Sick Again Travelling Riverside Blues Down by the Seaside For Your Life Hots on for Nowhere Wanton Song Carouselambra
"Zeptember". "Get the Lead Out". Loved the set-asides radio had for this band. Everything by them I'd hear on radio. Physical Graffiti has filler? Well, I guess there's some 4.5/5 songs. 1The Rover 2 The Wanton Song 3 In the Light 4 How Many More Times 5 Friends. Jeez, I'm still just blown away by Zep.
“Traveling riverside blues” “Bron y aur” “Sick again” “Night Flight”, “carouselambra”, “I’m gonna crawl”(great tune!) and my favorite “For your life” with the killer back and forth between Bonham & Page. There’s probably a few more I’m not thinking of, but FM radio in NYC beat most of them to death!
It's funny, growing up in Columbus, listening to Q-FM, there pretty much were no deep cuts when it came to Led Zeppelin. So I had to laugh hearing some of your choices because I heard most of those songs on the radio ALL THE TIME! With the exception of Presence, where Nobody's Fault and Hots On For Nowhere were, I believe, the only songs that got regular airplay. But Levee, Wanton, even Carouselambra, they were on pretty regular rotation. Therefore it's hard for me to come up with a list, other than most of the songs on Presence and a few from Coda (Poor Tom, Wearing and Tearing, Ozone Baby). But I really enjoyed the video, guys!
Is there such a thing as a deep cut? I feel like I've heard most of these songs before I bought the albums. So, I'm just going to pick ten of their lesser-known songs with a few honorable mentions: 1. When the Levee Breaks - My favorite song in the Zeppelin catalog. Made me a fan!! 2. Nobody's Fault but Mine - My second favorite Zeppelin song in their catalog 3. Traveling Riverside Blues - It's in my top five of favorite Zeppelin songs anyway. 4. The Ocean - I love Page's guitar work as usual. 5. In the Evening - I love the muted tone of that song. 6. Four Sticks - I love the album version and the one with the Egyptian Orchestra during the 90s. 7. Hey, Hey, What Can I Do? - It should've been on Zeppelin III instead of a B-side. 8. Bring It on Home - I love Led Zeppelin best when they play the blues. 9-. Wanton Song - I've always loved the groove of this song. 10. Bron-Yr-Aur - It's an instrumental but I love it. Honorable Mentions 1. The Rover - I love the opening to pieces. 2. What Is and What Should Never Be - A love song 3. Run for Your Life - Some have called the riff plodding but I love it. 4. Sick Again - Interesting rocker and tells an interesting story about groupies. 5. Houses of the Holy - I agree that it should've been on HOTH. I would have put this song on in place of The Crunge, most definitely!!!
The Rover riff leads into Sick Again on their 1977 US Tour. Find any Zeppelin bootleg from 77 here on UA-cam and check it out. It’s the second song on every gig on that tour. I appreciate your love for Outdoor….its such an incredible album that people/fans don’t seem to appreciate enough. I honestly love every Zeppelin song including “Hot Dog” (so much fun!)and “Bonzo’s Montreux” (more of a dedication). “Hats Off to Roy Harper” would be my least fav Zeppelin song, but everything else is good with me. Here’s my list: Candy Store Rock I’m Gonna Crawl Wearing and Tearing Battle Of Evermore Ten Years Gone Hey Hey What Can I Do Your Time Is Gonna Come Boogie With Stu The Crunge Hots On For Nowhere That’s The Way
In The Light- eerie, menacing but optimistic in the same package. It’s my fav Zep song. Also, thank you for clearing up the Wanton Song, Martin. It’s spelled differently and means something entirely different than Chinese food. I might be petty but it drives me nuts when people pronounce it like Wonton. Would you like chopsticks with that? Love that song but it’s not as good as Zep’s forgotten classic, The Egg Roll Song.
Here’s my top 10 zeppelin deep tracks 1. Wanton song 2. The Rover 3. The Battle of Evermore 4. Wearing & Tearing 5. Houses of the holy 6. Song remains the same 7. Gallows pole 8. Four sticks 9. In the Evening 10. Night Flight

...in no particular order...Out On The Tiles...I'm Gonna Crawl...Nobody's Fault But Mine...We're Gonna Groove...Tangerine...In The Light...Wearing And Tearing...Boogie With Stu...Sick Again...The Wanton Song...a sidenote here...our local "classic rock" station here has a DJ that every night plays "Get The Led Out," a segment of Zep songs, usually around 15-20 minutes...she DOES play some "deep cuts," but there are some I never hear...and another sidenote...a lot of your choices WERE played a LOT where I live anyway, so I tried to choose songs that I did not/do not hear. And one final note...I believe i own a bootleg live recording or 2 where they DID play "The Rover," if my memory serves. Messed up time for the band since they had to cut that tour short, and only utilized 11 days to record "Presence"...and finally, as far as "In Through The Out Door," the only 2 songs I never heard on the radio was Carouselamabra (however the hell you spell it) and I'm Gonna Crawl...the other songs were played to DEATH around here...and to finish it up, yes..."Friends" should've made my list, but I think all 3 of you picked it...so I have to be "contrarian"...:0)...as for "Coda," why in the heck didn't they put "Hey Hey What Can I Do" on that?
Living Loving Maid (She's Just a Woman)... Well, Led Zep played in a way "The Rover" but not in it's entirety unfortunately, it was as an opening song for "Sick Again"...
The problem with Zep, is that almost every song was beaten to death by FM radio. Growing up in NY in the 80’s, before satellite radio, almost all of these songs were on a constant loop.
Page used The Rover to open a couple songs live, usually Sick Again. It used to make me mad when listening to bootlegs and Page would start that riff and not play the fucking song. Dammit man, play The Rover!!!

Since I've been loving YOU is my favorite song of all time. Of all time!
There's a line from "Houses of the Holy" that I think is absolutely genius. "Let the music be your master!" Brilliant!

Great show gentlemen. Enjoyed it 👍 😊
They used to use the opening riff for The Rover before going into Sick Again live
Pete... "When The Levee Breaks" is super heavy WITH HARMONICA 😂
The riff on the verse to In The Light is insane so unique and tricky to play

Martin's love of Celebration Day confounds me to this very day.
solo on "For Your Life" sickest thing that Page has ever ejected from his mind . ....🇬🇧 Hail Britannia🇬🇧

Yup
great show guys, but 50% of the time i cant hear what Martin is saying. I think something is wrong with his microphone

Yes! South bound Suarez! Forgot about that one. Good choice.
He refuses to get a new one. It's been bad for years.
Read somewhere that Zep didn’t really like Dancing Days much at all
Sucks for them cause its killer!
