Hello Keith! excellent idea! I fabricated your design and welded it into my Jeep and it works beautifully. First I adjusted the handbrake shoes at the wheel as tightly as possible while still allowing clearance then fine tuned it with the fabricated adjuster to take up cable slack. Thanks
🟢cta1284; 15.09’24- I did the clock spring fix to my 2013 JKU back in SEP 2023. Works great without slipping. JK Parking Brake Lever Repair (2013 JKU) •Repair adds a single wind on clock spring to re-tension parking cables. •The clock spring’s tension is not difficult to move. •Should be done with parking brake handle assembly in vehicle ITEMS NEEDED PULL LINE- •20 in. of 18ga wire (Stranded or solid, insulated or not) PLIERS- •Vise grip (Pull line handle) LEVERAGE TOOL- •Large screw driver, chisel or equivalent (Starts movement on clock spring) REPAIR PROCESS o Remove center console & associated wiring; makes the job easier. o Lower parking brake handle. o Cut 20 in. of 18ga wire. o Run wire 1/2 way through the bend of the clock spring’s hook that engages tab. (May need to push hook forward to get wire through) o Start a tight twist at the spring’s hook then continue twisting the wire together. o Run the twisted wire forward / down & feed it under clock spring towards rear of vehicle. o Attach vise grip to end of twisted wire. o The next step will require two movements at the same time- o 1) With a large screw driver, chisel or equivalent, push forward on clock spring hook & down in front while 2) pulling on the twisted wire with the vise grip. o Keep pulling until the hook lines up with the tab. o Shift hook over & slide hook back onto tab. o Re-install center console.

Its a very common problem. While winding the spring around works too it's difficult and you cant adjust. This works great! JEEP SHOUKD HAVE THOUGHT IF THIS!!
Hey Keith, how much you would charge me If I order one of those? I have the same problem with my emergency brakes (JK) and I don´t have a shop to fabricate one of those.
See that small hole on the metal piece, close to where the e-brake stopper is located? It almost looks like there is a small hole and a little lip - almost looks like it was designed to hold a small spring assembly here?
Clockspring can be tightened using 400mm piece of lacing wire fed under the spring & a loop hooked on to the spring and pulled around to the back(eld with a 4mm rod) Wire again fed under the spring from front & pulled again to hook on the original lug. wire slipped off spring a few times. A couple of steel rulers down side of spring & housing might stop wire slipping off
Parking brake "parrrrking" you know for when your parked LOL. Emergency brake needs to work if your on an incline and the tranny pops out of gear dude.
Had to adjust mine on a 2007 JK this weekend. I found this other video: ua-cam.com/video/uxCQhzcaS34w/v-deo.htmlhere you can adjust the ebrake if you remove the wheels, the calipers and the rotors.Your solution looks like a slick one, but I don't have the tools to go that route.
I think you missed the point. Even with the pads adjusted properly at the wheel, a lot of Jeep owners have issues with the E brake. Myself included. I have brand new pads that are barely touching the rotor, but when you pull the lever, it only starts to grab at the very top. This leaves you with very little pressure. I'll be looking to do something like his solution for my own.

Could you please add some details, and products used so I can create my own
Very nice design! Same problem with my wife’s 2014 wrangler.

Wow that is clever Keith, you made my day. Thanks.

Excellent video thank you! Very little to be found on a manual transmission.

You should be working for Chrysler and you could re-design their handbrake genius fix kudos to you
dude that is fucking brilliant
Thanks for this!

Did you do a single loop on the clock spring?
Very neat 👍
Great idea
Nice
Do you think I could jb weld this together? I don't have a welder? I have tiny bungee cords. How would using those work?
Brilliant!!
Very bad design by jeep but you did a great mod. Can you replace that spring?
What did you use for the bolt /screw to three threw
Downshifting would be more effective at slowing w/o hyd brakes than relying on the puny drum pads. Afterall it is a manual.

@@keithgreene2007 just responding to your explination of how to come to a stop safely.....
Why didn't they do that from the factory
I held my tan back with safety wire
