And he still is. All those new so called artists have no creativity and can't write music. They need to work with a team of songwriters and have othes to arrange and produce to be able to create run of the mill music and George said here that he doesn't want to compete with any of them. He said in a different Interview that he feels that he is the last proper artist. And he was absolutely right about that. There really won't be another.

What an intelligent and insightful explanation of the state of modern pop. He saw the way this was going back in 1993. He was proved right - as on so many things, not just the music business.

It's amazing that once George had his success with Faith that then he made music to make himself happy and not worry about record sales, money and if corporate bigwigs agreed with his plans for himself and his career path. He was so true to himself and his love of music. He was such a rare artist. His music is forever etched in pop history aa it should be.

Why they think of taking his wonderful music and mixing it with other crap, that's not what George left, his music should stay the way he wrote it and sang it

Very well spoken! He knew very well, what he wanted, but he didn't want to deal with record companies and managers anymore.

He was used to sparring with heavy weights like jackson, prince, maddona, whitney etc etc. Not rachel stevens 🤣🤣. That's what he wanted to say. What a legend RIP.

Exactly! BUT!!!! Even if you feel your genre is dead, your music is still the best and will be played for eons. I'm glad you didn't want to compete with Robbie Williams, Will Young etc. But at the same time you can be immensely proud, because all those wannabes were inspired by you, despite not having real musical talent. And now they all secretly want to be George Michael! 🤭

Wow...such absolute honesty and full review of THE MAIN ISSUE & problem with a corporate music style system... It doesn't work. Corporate is bean counter right brain & artistry, creativity & music is left brained.
P.S. ~ The reporter that asked him that question was REALLY GOOD. It would have been nice if he had be able to do a full i review with George. It seemed a bit like they were in the zone - together - in the same wave link. WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MIND !

I would have been intrigued to find out why he didn't want to "sparr" with Robbie Williams. I mean they are clearly not in the same league, I give him that, but then George has always been in a league of his own. Maybe he thought Robbie was too "formulaic"? In any case, who cares about the genre? Make the music you are called to make! And he did. Will never not be grateful for what he committed to tape. One of a kind.

Nobody will ever reach George's quality in voice, song writing or production so why would he want to out-compete a guy from a boyband who was mainly cruising on his entertainment value rather than the songwriting/vocals and woo a new generation of young women who want a young guy to swoon over. Robbie is an entertainer, he just needs a few songs to carry it for him. George is a vocalist and songwriter. their worlds don't intersect.

And that is why most music on the radio today is garbage and all sound the same
