- In this video I'm illustrating how to use the Amsterdam formula and a large cake server to create beautiful lacing and cells.
I am showing this technique on two canvases. The first one is a 16 by 16 inch Gallery wrapped canvas. I flooded the canvas first with my white house paint mixed with floetrol and water. All the other paints where mixed also with floetrol and water. the Amsterdam mix is 1 part black oxide and 4 parts floetrol.
The first painting I used Americana Decor metallics Emerald, my mysterious mix, Amsterdam gold, and Americana Decor metallics pewter.
You can see the formula for the Mysterious here
• Mysterious No More.. R...
The second painting is a 12in round, and I'm using the emerald, pewter, and mysterious also.
I hope I have inspired you to try something different. Let's keep playing with pigments and making beautiful things.
The next video that will be released is a collaboration with Cathleen Ozmore of Coz Creations, so watch for that one coming up in the next few days..

I love your work. It brings me back to my youth when I would spend hours outdoors on my back on a blanket looking at cloud formations and imagining creatures. Some of your more recent works make me think of Earth from above. So your works always put me in the clouds! It’s a wonderful place to be. Thank you.
Such beautiful little bits hidden in these paintings....💚
I love the great movements you create using this technique. It is aquatic looking.......dolphins dancing to your music.

Amazing work, you seem to dance with your paints & your music selection ties it all together. Hope I’ve translated how I see your work😍
Absolute beauty in the making ...I'm sitting here watching what develops... I'm not a lover of green , but that emerald Green is so beautiful...I thank you for sharing your knowledge and your talent
Take care.
Thank you so very much. Yes Emerald isn't usually my first go to green but it worked beautifully here with that turquoise metallic
I love, love your technique. I must ask about your cells. Are you using American or Australian floetrol?? You’ve said you don’t use oil.
I didn’t know you were in Canada...
Well, you've inspired me. I have paints ready for a big pour but when I do that one, I will try this on a smaller canvas. Oh, have you tried a black background with the Amsterdam white with your swiping technique. I have no Oxide Black by Amsterdam but do have a small tube of Carbon Black which I've heard make cells like the Amsterdam paints. Thanks for the lessons. I need to be taken away. So much bad stuff going on in my life. I need the escape.
Oh Laura, I'm sorry there's bad things going on right now. Painting is a wonderful Escape. I think the carbon black will work just fine as long as it's the Arab sterdam. Thank you again for all your kindness
Both paintings are beautiful and those cells are amazing. Does this also work with a different base coat or does it have to be house paint?? Thanks so much for all the info, help, and tips.
It should work with any house paint or base paint. The real magic is in the Amsterdam floetrol mix
Hallo, are You taken the american floetrol or australien floetrol?
Is it only the black oxide Amsterdam or do other Amsterdam paints cause the same reactions?
Is there a specific Amsterdam black that you use? I know the color is carbon black but is it a opaque, soft body, or thicker paint?
It is the black oxide that I use..
hihi .. may i know how u mixed ur base coat .. would be really appreciated .. cause there is a dulux paint store around where i live .. t q for u help .
The paint is pretty thick.. so nearly equal parts paint and floetrol and then maybe another 1/4 part of water to the right consistency that you want
@@GailBurstynLifeInSplatters t q .. u r very generous , one more question .. which dulux paint ? the diamond or others ...? since they hv so many different type .... just wanted to make sure , i get the right one .. t q again .. it wil be very much appreciated .
