Difference between Extreme Ghostbusters and the 2016 remake is Extreme didn't wipe the original continuity away and showed respect for what had come before. Extreme is actually a pretty good show. Better than the later episodes of Real Ghostbusters once it became Slimer and the real Ghostbusters.
A truly underrated gem and a very welcomed part of Ghostbusters canon. What I really love about this show is how well written it's diverse cast is, they are characters first and minorities second, which is how you write diverse characters, something the reboot didn't quite understand.
I have a random theory about people always forgetting that ghosts exist in Ghostbusters. I'm thinking that unless they keep encountering ghosts, human/mortals forget about those experiences, and will eventually ignore evidence that they exist. But since the GB crew still have Slimer, it's enough to keep the memories. It's not a perfect theory, but it's one I like.
@@Reapermaskhybrid considering theres people RIGHT NOW in real life that claim antifa isnt real yeah a 10 year span between the events of the movie and these kids and people writting ghosts off as a scam isnt that far fetched at all people seem to forget how quickly people can be brainwashed into thinking something else is true like ghosts dont exist when in reality they do
Sure Extreme Ghostbusters may have lasted for one season, but the series is an underrated, underappreciated gem. Plus, Egon's ponytail hairstyle is just as unique as the pompadour rattail combo in the 80s
Fun Fact: When the show was in its early stages of development, Garret was originally going to be a girl named Lucy. ghostbustersnews.com/2013/04/15/more-conceptual-designs-from-extreme-ghostbusters/
I feel that Garret, Johnny Joestar, Charles Xavier, and Joe Swanson all make a perfect example of how just because you're handicapped, that doesn't mean you can't make a difference (and look awesome doing it)!
a good way to tell that a show is really good is when you can recall moments in it even after so many years i can still remember an episode in it where slimer got trapped inside the ghost containment unit and that season finale where they outfitted a truck with a kick ass gigantic proton blaster in preparation for fighting a ghost that was more powerful than they've ever faught before yep, this one was one of the great ones from the 90's
13:00- I think this is how the Golem ended up in the movie. I mean the Prague Rabbi made Golem to defend from a pogrom but ended up going on a rampage after finishing his work due to neglect and hate by the masses.
Holy shit, Esh! I just checked back on your Eshbaal channel after 2 years and found out you made a new channel! This is so fucking awesome, I've been a fan of horrible horror since 2011 and I can't wait to binge watch this while channel lol
Every single sequel or reboot of ghostbusters always has people going ghosts aren't real. True the new movie is the first, and hopefully last so people won't start a war, so it makes sense, but I'm betting if that gets a sequel, they will have everyone saying "Ghosts aren't real, you're just a bunch of psychos."
I remember hearing somewhere that this show was done because of the PC culture in the 90's. But looking back at this now with the new "ghostbusters" movie. This show does a better job at being a Ghostbusters show.
Grangis Jefe I jeep wanting to, but I am still only on Kamen Rider OOOs in terms of Heisei stuff and havent actually watched any od the old Showa era stuff.
Yeah rider and tokusatsu stuff in general is a big pill to swallow in terms of sheer amount of content and franchise history. But all the different iterations of the show give the fan base alot to discuss. Great channel by the way, loving your videos
Ghostbusters fan since 1986 (I was born week after the first movie premiered, but as a two year old, started loving the franchise after getting a Kenner Real Ghostbusters (G1) Peter action figure. Loved the (most) movies, figures, Funko Pops, games, and comics, and both of these TV series. I think that the comics made the Extreme Ghostbusters even better (like with having Kylie get introduced as an employee at Ray's occult shop). I eventually saw the Feig/Dippold Ghostbusters, but yeesh. They turned down the wrong road when deciding that the Ghostbusters franchise at it's heart is mainly about comedy. Then, they made the movie, its production, and its marketing hinged around a social media war of rhetoric and cancel culture against the bulk of the franchise's fan demographics. I kept following the news, trying to stay positive like Homer trying to make the best of a runaway suckling pig ("Little bit airborne. Still good, still good."), but by the introduction of a "Ghostchipper" and the producers getting Wired to write an article trying to explain how the the science of the Feig/Dippold movie is legit, I was like "Yeah, we just saw in the diversely cast IDW comic how breaking a ghost into a million ectoplasmic particles only makes a bigger problem.
Speaking of Godzilla the Series, since the whole series is finally out on DVD including the unaired episodes, do you plan on doing a review of that as well?
The Real Ghostbusters are in fact the real ghostbusters. The live action film that spawned the cartoon, starring Murray, Ramis, etc. is in fact a Hollywood movie adapting the Gozer incident in New York that the Real Ghostbusters took care of - which wasn’t really as serious as the film made it out to be. Most of the cases they handled were minor or interpersonal in nature - the general public often never saw a widespread spiritual event. One of the clever thing the new movie did was showing how the government not only knew ghosts were real, but were complicit in keeping their existence secret and making the ghostbusters appear to be charlatans to keep up the ruse.
2:39 thinks that teams bad, the power rangers in the new movie are a bunch of teenagers who are always in detention, and Billy. Billy's pretty much the same except less nerdy.
