  • The Moto Guzzi V7 has been around for a long time. It is tried and tested, it is stable and steadfast and it oozes charm. And now with the V7 III it has finally been given an update. Nothing drastic, they haven't thrown out the old to make way for the new, they've just tweaked the original recipe enough to pique my interest anyway.

    I like how ur review gets straight to the ride and feel of the bike. Not a bunch of nonsense for five minutes. Surprised your channel doesnt have way more subs.

    I have a V7 and I love riding it. I grew up riding BMWs from the 60s and 70s, and to me the Guzzi has similar good vibrations, feel and sound. Beauty is generally in the eye of the beholder; I find Guzzis to very pleasing aesthetically.

      Well said, David. I'm hoping my order will soon be processed, on a V7 special . Guzzi seem to have exracted many drops of goodness from what appears a modest spec but is in fact such fun and practicality. Most longterm owners , like you, keep their smile , which must speak volumes, especially when you have a variety of bikes under your belt

    Hello, just wanted to say thank you for a great review. I was looking at a few bikes for my first bike and I selected the 2019 Moto Guzzi V7 iii Stone. I love it and it has been a great bike to start my riding experience. Honestly, I don't have years let alone months of experience but as a starter bike it is solid. The fact that it is still built in Italy since 1921 and I'm Italian sold me on the Moto Guzzi. Thank you again for your review. Safe riding!!

    Probably the best bike review video I've seen. It gives a very good picture of what the bike is in reality, which is not measuered in numbers.
    Sadly it costs quite a lot, even second hand so I'm gonna wait and save money for mine, but I bet it's worth it

    Stunning video dude!! As you said this is NOT a slow bike..In fact the top speed is : 115 miles per hour =
    185.075 km/h...I agree with you !! It almost reach 200 km/h ..it's not a slow bike...It's an italian milestone and i am proud of MOTO GUZZI!!!

    Just saw this video pop up, and it certainly describes the bike pretty well. I bought the v7 racer last year, and in comparison with other bikes, it was definitely my heart leading and not my brain. That said any doubts I ever have about the purchase are gone when I'm on the bike.

    I have a 2006 Breva 750 and love it. Power is more than adequate, handles well, gets compliments on appearance, routine maintenance is easy, and puts a smile on my face every time I ride it. Of the 15 bikes I’ve owned, the Moto Guzzi is far and away my favorite.

    Own a 2019, v7 111, downsized from a bmw r1200rt, I love this bike! 5`6" tall, 172 lbs, excellent handling, great brakes, very comfortable, traction control, abs, added a dart flyscreen, oxford heated grips and hepco becker hard bags, over 200 miles per tankful, 6 spd, suspension is a little stiff but a non issue , took off passenger strap, there pop riveted in but they will come out, never ride with a passenger, bike purs when u get on it, easy maneuverable, nice and quiet, 52 hp is more than enough for this bike, no it's not a rr or a panigale by no means but it's a blast to ride, easily a 300 mile rider per day, EASILY!! it's not a big bike, if ur very tall u might be cramped, otherwise I would recommend it for commuting, backroad blasting, & touring ,

      Well said :) I bought a Vii online today. I've got a 1200GS but I want this bike for just chillin' taking it easy. The GS brings out the hooligan a bit. Even though I'm ancient. Cheers.

    I love my V7iii and rided it over a year now. After jump off highly tuned Kawasaki ZX14 for a long. I cant feel any lack of power. It can keep up with BMW R1200GS on the trip and still use it cruise in the city like Honda super cup. Great bike

    Great review, thanks! I also like that you get right into the feel of the bike and not too much on numbers. "Better to be fast on a slow bike than slow on a fast bike" - what a great motto!
    However, I must point out that the "roll" you feel when twisting the throttle at a stop light is from the engine, not the driveshaft (which is stationary then)! Transverse twin with a longitudinal crankshaft, you're feeling the reaction to the crankshaft spinning up. Pedantic I know, but ...
    My local dealer has a 2019 Stone on sale, but having found out about the 2021's higher power, I'm going to wait - if I can!

      Well, I couldn't wait! The dealer worked on the price and I couldn't resist. Only 150 miles so far but loving it! Power seems fine but hard to judge with the break-in restricting me to 4500rpm. And there is an 820cc kit available!

      I am not associated with any country implied here, live in the global village. Just feel it's sad when nationalism is brought in. I remember TVR and Morgan owners in my country with a sticker on the rear of their car: "all parts falling off of this car are genuine British handcrafted". Or Ford investigating why their version of a compact car broke down all the time whilst the same car from a Japanese manufacturer lasted. And then USAnians writing in the interweb that mentioned brand is an acronym of fix or repair daily. Or Jaguars and Austin Healy needed at least be Mk III of the final production year to be a bit reliable. Yet they started rusting in the brochure.

      I was considering the Triumph Street Twin.... until I found out that they are now Made In Thailand. When the price is no less than the Guzzi which is Made in Italy, something's not right. But what is seriously morally wrong is that they are very hush hush about it being Thai made, and try to pass it off as Made in England. (Union jack on the logo and all). Why not put a Thai flag on their bikes and be proud of it!? Exactly... prestige. A prestigious name cannot be associated with cheap labour. If you're buying something for the prestige you want it to be authentic. And a Thai-made Triumph is not. Just like a Harley Street isn't.
      I do get it; it is a business decision which assumes that the consumer is either easily tricked or too dim to care, or like the brand so much that they don't care and convince themselves it's Made in England. Their business model works because there are a lot of people in this bracket. I'm just glad I'm not one of them.

      @@marcus9905 I really like the Bonneville scrambler and have wanted one for a while now but the fact they aren't made in UK anymore is putting off! I'm now looking at the v9 bobber but the seating position with the footpegs forward slightly more than normal is got me concerned as my back is not that healthy., wonder if I could get used to it...

      I’m American and I go out of my way to buy American stuff. If I’m going to buy an Italian bike I want it built in Italy. If I’m buying a Toyota I want one built in Japan. Nothing wrong or racist about it.

    Small correction. It's not the shaft drive that's causing the Guzzi to lunge to the right when you blip the throttle at a standstill, but the crankshaft and fly wheel. The crankshaft lies longitudinally along the bike. Also, the driveshaft doesn't turn at all when the bike has stopped.

    Nice job. I have lead demo rides for Piaggio /Guzzi at the Sturgis Rally since 2016. These V7s are very capable bikes and outperform most expectations. Just appreciate them and ride them the way they were designed and you'll be very satisfied. Guzzi owners are a loyal group and once you've owned one for awhile, you'll understand why.

      To me it feels like a motorbike should. It reminds me very much of a 750 Commando, but with actual brakes..
      It's not a crotch rocket, it's not a sports bike, and you won't be pulling a wheelie unless you turn the traction control off.

    Some people love them others hate em, me I love mine. I have had my V7III Special for two years now and with Arrow silencers sounds really good with baffles in, out just too loud. This one will be a keeper.

    fantastic review. iv owned both previous versions and now the blue and orange special and everything you said sums it up perfectly, especially how they have refined the ride quality but lost none of the vibrations and soul. the clutch takes a few minutes of riding to become slick so for test riders taking it around the block id suggest for that reason to go for a longer ride. best review on the v7 3 iv seen so far..

      @@iTripped my gen 2 had fuelling issues that could not be fixed even with a tuner. the gen 3 has a steeper rake to lighten and quicken the steering plus the change of pistons has given 15% more power at the wheel so that sixth gear actually makes more sense now. one thing that erked me about the gen 2 was the orange lights drilled into the top yoke.. they just looked like an afterthought. the gen 3 is awesome.. i love it

    Nice review sir. TIndeed those kind of nature moments should be taken in and stress relieved, for that brief moment of the day. Sure as hell better than one jumping out at you going 40mph :) I'm very keen on a few other paint jobs, after seeing them.

    I also have a 2018 V7 iii special in blue , very pretty . I haven't fallen in love with it yet , already dumped the rear shocks for Hagon's and that has improved things greatly , still not happy with the throttle , too sensitive for my liking , but i'm getting there .

    Currently own a 1989 Moto Guzzi Mille GT 1000 cc that I have had for 20 years. Once took me 120 miles on one cylinder at highway speed when one spark plug wire crapped out on a Sunday morning with no shops open. At almost 70 years old it has gotten too heavy to maneuver in and out of situations. Purchased a 2013 Moto Guzzi V7 Stone at more than 100 pounds less wet weight. Absolutely love it. Will stay with Moto Guzzi for the rest of my riding life. I have owned BMW, Laverda, Ducati, Moto Morini, Triumph, BSA, Zundapp, Indian, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Cagiva and loved them all for different reasons, but the fact that I can physically handle the weight of a bike that will cruise (illegally) at 85-90 mph for as long as I need, looks good, is reliable and affordable and unique, why shop anywhere else?- -Mike Battle

    You just sold me on "it feels like its built to last." I just sat on one yesterday at the dealer where I live and I would totally agree with that! Theres a weight to it but its reassuring somehow and yes it feels substantial. Its small stature is deceptive when you sit on it. I somehow felt assured that I could put the lady friend on the back with no issues for a lazy day of riding. Thank you for your review!

      @@RarefiedRoad I just bought the V7 Carbon Dark this morning. :) Coming from a Ducati Diavel, it's quite a step down in power but seems like a fun bike. Not to mention a collectors bike because of the limited production.

    I have had my v7 special for 4000 miles. I still can’t find the kick stand, and I am never sure if I am in 1st or 2nd gear. Your review is spot on. I wish the gauges were not plastic. Most of the bike is quality, I have replaced all the plastic parts on mine (mud guards, turn signals and other small parts. It is a fun bike and has a substantial feel to it. Flickable but solid!

      Thanks. I agree about the clocks, unfortunately plastic parts tend to stand out and look cheap on these modern classics so I'd be looking to do the same as you and change them out for better quality. It's one of my new favourite bikes though, as you say it handles well.

    Nice to see you ride my old test track of Richmond park .Good review and explains why I chose a V5O over a Z550 in 1980 and since then ridden there on Jota 120, XJR 400 , speed triple 899, Tmax KTM 640 Duke, Cagiva Navigator,. Often wondered if the deer would mind a mini TT there.

    Started watching your reviews not long ago and have kept watching. Like others here, I commend your getting straight to what the bike feels like. Far too many reviews waste time on looks easily captured in pictures or the showroom and details too minute to matter. Seems like you've landed just about where I have - fast bikes are a dime a dozen, harder (and more desirable) for one to deliver visceral reward within the legal limit. Guzzis deserve more attention. Shame their dealer network is poor (at least here in the U.S.).

      Thank you, I really appreciate the feedback. As much as I really like 'fast' bikes i'm keen to try a wide range, anything with two wheels is fair game but I'm definitely focusing more on mid range naked bikes at the minute. It probably speaks more to the kind of riding I'm doing, same as yourself fast roads and fast riding is tough to find around London so you have to look to get your enjoyment through other means, finding that set of wheels that makes you smile each and every time you start it up, and the bike you want to look back at when you've parked it up. Guzzi's definitely fit that niche.
      Unfortunately the dealerships are a little hard to find in the UK too, hopefully they'll improve their distribution network soon.

    It seems to me that whenever the subject of Guzzis comes up, inevitably someone has to mention the "torque reaction" and "clunky shifting." Personally, I like the feel of the "sideways torque reaction" and don't mind the "deliberate" shifting at all. I have ridden lots of other bikes of various styles and brands, and I think they are all a lot of fun.

    Nice review and welcome to the world of Guzzis! Ive had 8 over the years and still have a Griso now. Just one small correction, the slight movement to the right when revving hte bike at a standstill is down to the rotating crankshaft rather than the drive shaft (which is stationary at that point) one of the endearing characteristics of a great bike.

      @@RarefiedRoad I think you were a bit harsh on the Griso too... I've been using one as an everyday bike for the last few years, apart from the well know starter motor fuse issue, never let me down. An optimate is essential though...

    I am very happy to see your review. My motorcycle in Asia is also MOTO GUZZI V7III STONE (although the price is expensive compared to moto guzzi in Asia and moto guzzi in Europe, I bought this V7iii). I am currently driving 17000KM completely. No problem, you can roam freely. When parking between expressways and urban roads, passers-by will ask this beautiful motorcycle. My old motorcycle is triumph T100 (2014 856CC version), driving for four years, 46580km, starting motor failure, oil sump leakage Oil cylinder head oil leakage crankshaft sensor failure, I sold Triumph. Then converted to the current V7iii stone

    Nice review, although you could have been a bit fairer on this bike. Together, there are 3 plastic parts on this bike, and those bits are high quality and in places that nothing can hit them other than you. The build quality is excellent for the price. This bike is not just a bike, it has soul and that's what you get only with moto guzzi. It moves, and want you to tame it. Plenty of power and a sweet sweet exhaust note. The engine is bullet proof, although you have to service it well. Excellent bike, made in Italy which only adds value to it, you know the bike is made is an historic motor land.

    Excellent review, specifically the triumph being much more refined vs the guzzi being substantial it's very accurate. I've owned the v9 bobber for 3 years now and it's very agricultural, it's as if they make these bikes from spare parts in the tractor factory. The steel feels that bit thicker. I remember reading a guy came off his v7ii and him saying there was more damage to the road.
    I think they really are well and truly the most alternative set of bikes.

      Of possible interest though, it's O-60 is pretty much the same as a T100 Bonnie or a GL1800 Goldwing. I don't think my mate expected my little V7 to be a hair quicker off the mark than his Goldwing pleasure barge.
      Or, as my wife asked, "how fast were we going before we got to the bends?", I honestly don't know but in hindsight might have braked a little sooner as I'd forgotten the extra weight onboard; the brakes work rather well.

    Hi mate, love your channel, I have a V7 850, ecu is flashed, has Mistrals and upgraded front progressive forks. I would like you to test ride it and see just how different it is compared to the previous models. It's has a 65bhp (measured at the back wheel, not at the the crank) so it's actually very surprisingly fast. Power wheelies in first gear. Get in touch man, I'm based in Richmond ;)

    Just to add: the 6,000 mile service intervals are all pretty much exactly the same on this bike. My local dealer charges mid 300's USD for this service. It averages out to be pretty similar to a japanese bike in my experience, on average, if not a little cheaper. Will vary by dealer, of course.

    It is a sweet ride alright. I have a V7 Special lll and I love it. Plenty fast enough, great torque, it wants to get on with it. And it’s nimble and steers so nice too. Sounds and looks great. And yes gets comments every day. I went Yorkshire to Holyhead and it eats the miles. Seat gets a bit hard, arse a bit sore, but it’s a class bike I love it. I traded up from a Honda rebel 500, I couldn’t get on with that. Good bike but steering was odd and I found it more difficult to move around than the Guzzi is. Guzzi is just a great bike.

      @@HuangHangLo The guy who did the review! He wasn't saying you must ride slow on a fast bike, he just said he preferred riding fast on a slow bike, then riding slow on a fast bike. Sort of like my son and I. I myself have a V7 III and I get the opening up wide on a regular basis. My son has a KTM 790 and he doesn't much get a chance to really open it up.... we live in central London so that's why! Some time ago I had a 250 Yamaha Virago V twin... that thing was a hoot because after time the throttle was wide wide open full blast it was great fun.... that's what we mean😎

      @@jamesnickel4748 Believe me, I get it. I own 3 bikes and one of them is a Honda Grom. I just don't understand that motto considering a fast bike at least gives you the option to go fast or slow. A slow bike only goes slow.
      I tackle long rides often and many times while on a slow bike. I can admit that sometimes I just want to blaze through certain areas and a 125cc just isn't enough-even with the throttle being completely wrung out. Fun yes? Could it be funner? Absolutely.

When I was 20 years old I loved my Suzuki GS1000. Lucky I'm still alive the way i rode.
      Now that I'm almost 60 I prefer my much slower bike! If I had a fast one now, I'd likely not make it to 62 years rather than the 80 i should live to without the fast bike lol! Still there's nothing like having the feeling of a wide open throttle! Safe riding and all the best!😀

    Excellent review. Having owned a V7II and a V9, I affirm your sense of the V7's character, its personality. I also appreciate your approach, which is something like the bike itself: relaxed, intelligent, fun. Subscribed. Kudos! Quick question: I believe I saw that you bought a V7II. Given that the specs have the HP and torque of the V7II as slightly lower than the V7III, do you notice the difference? Does the V7II feel noticeably less able than the V7III?

      Thanks Kyle. I did indeed buy the V7II and honestly I don't think I noticed a huge difference in power. My V7II never felt under powered and I'm sure some of the improved feeling of the V7III you could put down to it being brand new. Loved them both either way.

    Thanks for your review, I have exactly the same bike since end of 2017 and still love it. I also tried the Street Twin (old one with 55 hp) and Ducati scrambler. The Street Twin was at first only comparing pictures and spec sheets my favorite. But in real live it looks and feels very small. I also agree it is more refined, but at the end for me the V7 is more like a real motor bike and the Triumph a little bit like a fashion accessorie.
    The Ducati on the other hand is a different bike, a little bit more plastic compared to Triumph and Moto guzzi not really as classic, but still looks good to me and you have a lot of options to change the style, light, funny engine.... more like a funny take it everyvwhere bike compared to the V7 cruising around, enjoy the scenery and relax bike and a big smile when you rev up and the engine characteristic change :).
    I Think with the ducati I could be happy as well but in a different way.
    Yesterday I put the short Mistral exhaust on it. What a difference in weight and style on the bike. Unfortunately all over is too much snow, so I could not ride it. But the sound in the garage was amazing, much deeper and louder. Not sure so far if it is maybe not to loud for my liking. So I am waiting impaitently for the first day I can ride it again :)

      Yep, agree totally with what you say about the Triumph and Ducati. It's really nice to see how 3 different manufacturers take on a very similar class of bike.
      And for my money (and I've listened to a lot of them) the Mistral exhausts are the best for the Guzzi. They give a really nice raspy note to that two cylinder engine without sounding too rough or raucous. But you are right, they do push the decibels up quite a lot. Might piss off the neighbours but they sound great when you're moving.

      I got a V7 Carbon last November and immediately put a mistral on it and took the DB Killer out and it makes it lighter and faster and a lot more torquee. Love it. just ordered the fender eliminator with LED lights to finish the look. Compared to my old R NineT - god rest its sole- got nicked, it is less jerky and still gives a sexy warp when revving it.

I also thought long about getting the r ninet, love the look and sound. But the price was too high for me for a toy and I was not sure if I really need that much power for a naked bike. Funny to see that somebody comming from a rnint can be happy with the V7 :) You really dont miss the extra punch?
      For me the 52hp are enough, but I am exiting which bikes Moto Guzzi will bring with the new V85 engine. I think I cant resist a V7 with 80hp and 80NM. This is for me the golden zone of having fun but still easy to handle.

      @@Vincent79Vega Ye, as I mentioned my R NineT got stolen, along with my other bike S1000XR. the thieving bastards must have targeted me for some time, both got nicked from secure under the building garage! anyhow, I could not get the insurance for the R NineT at a reasonable rate - all were offering over £5000 for insurance after the loss! so I started looking for smaller bike that has classic look and feel and also not in thieves regular radar. Hence, Guzzi. To be honest, I am still kind of the first at the traffic lights and still first to take off! don't let the 52hp fool you, with this little bike, you have to ignore the red flashing light when you lift off! it is set to such low civil revs that is ridicules. It is very punchy and gives a good grunt when pushing it, so ye, it is not as fast as R NineT in the second or third gear, but not far back. The lack of rev meter, worried me at first as I didn't know if I can push it, but from the feel of the engine, I know that it is still within good range and not gonna blow!

      @@coolatzo The Mistral exhausts are by far my favourite sounding exhausts for the V7. They've got a really deep tone and it makes the bike sound like a chinook when it's riding past.

    First of all, I do not own a Moto Guzzi or a Triumph, but there are things about the Moto Guzzi I like better than the Triumph. First, shaft drive, no more chain to mess with. The other thing is valve lash adjustment. On the Guzzi it is a very simple job which doesn't take long due to the heads being so easily to get to. On the Triumph you have to remove the tank and the cam cover, Then you check the gap with a feelers gauge marking down what each valve is gap at. Then you have to remove both camshafts to see what size shims are used on each vavle. Then determine what size shim you need for each vavle, put the engine back together ride to the Triumph dearlership, order the shims you need or a shim package which usually cost $100 or so. Then you wait for your shims to come in to the dealership, go back to the dealership to pick then up, return home and tear your engine back down to replace the shims with the proper size shims. On the Guzzi, it's a simple matter of a lock nut and an adjuster screw on each rocker arm, probably a one hour job. I'd buy yhe Guzzi.

    Shaft drive and air cooled is what tipped my choice to the V7. I chose the carbon. Added fully adjustable cartridges up front and Bitubo adjustable rear shocks with red springs.

      Rarefied Road , I live where the curves are tight and frequent, but the roads may not be very smooth in places. Being able to adjust the suspension for changing conditions is what I was going for. The stock suspension is fine if you are in the weight range that the front suspension is optimised for. Since I have ridden full on SS bikes I wanted a little more with my V7 Carbon.

      It's really hard for me to comment as I don't own the bike but from all the information I've seen they fair pretty well for reliability. There aren't that many horror stories. As I say they are build pretty solidly and they are fairly basic so repairs and maintenance should be pretty simple. I would say the key with most Italian bikes is that you need to keep up with servicing. Generally speaking if you keep up with service intervals they are as reliable as anything else.

      I own a v7 racer and it's insanely reliable! I do not have a dealer anywhere near me. Shaft drive requires little attention aside from what's recommended. I'm at 10k miles and haven't done anything. After it's first service @600 miles, I've only changed my oil and replaced an indicator bulb or two. I'm totally confident in it in every way. It's a safe bet if you're looking to get in!

    Regarding the gear indicator not working. I read elsewhere that it works from sensors on the engine/gearbox and the clutch lever has to be fully out for it to know what gear its in. So it does work fine its just different. 👍

    Handling on a Guzzi has always been good, since the first V7 and the Le Mans. In the dry you'll lean it over and scrape your toes without batting an eyelid, no twitching: it's like a cat on rails.
    The brakes - I've got to say the brakes are a whole lot better on Avon Roadriders, the lack of braking is down to the lack of grip from the demonic Pirelli slipping and the ABS releasing the brake. Just about everything on the Avons on this bike is better, no tram-lining, no slipping and twitching in corners, much better wear, higher speed rating, better braking, more comfortable and confident ride.
    Speed Twin? Mine's a V7 II, I have been on the V7 III though. The new one has a couple more ponies but the torque is much further up and it's gained several kilos. So the older model has a wider power band and power from way down low. The new one runs out of wind around 6500, the old one keeps going to around 7200. The older model got a speedo and a tacho. There's so much torque it barely notices a large pillion on the back, the back seat is reasonably comfy and they don't need a step ladder. The relaxed geometry is forgiving, you can make little mistakes and get out of them, a more twitchy 'pointy' bike is less forgiving.
    No crotch rocket but what it lacks in power it makes up in handling. It can be all over a Speed Twin like a bad italian suit.
    Service interval is Annual/10,000km (6,000 miles) an annual service makes sense; not everything is done each time, a lot of it is inspection.

      I have to say I prefer the V7II too, which is ridiculous to say but given the option it's the version I'd buy. It was a big enough improvement over the original V7 and the third generation lost one or two things (or at least the stone version did) that I think I would miss, namely the dual clock setup.
      Really smooth ride and a joy to start up. I like how it makes me ride, calm and measured.

    Very Nice Review. Regarding your Concerns about the Service intervals. It´s 7500km or after a Year whatever happens first. Compared to Triumph as an example, they give you 10000km or a year, whatever happens first. I really doubt that a lot of us do more than 75000km in a year not to mention 10000km. So in the End, for most of us, it comes down to one Service a Year, with every Brand around.

      Apart from the first one, Guzzi service is 10,000km = 6,000 miles.
      Most of it is inspection and that is annual. My V7 is >3yo and has had one major service i.e. one oil change since 'first service'.
      If you've got any sense you inspect a bike every time you ride it. A lot of it can be done whilst riding - how are the brakes, does the clutch cable need adjusting, is there an annoying rattle?
      To get at the oil filter you have to drop the sump off, messy but pretty easy. It does mean you clean all the muck out of the sump though. Doing the valve clearances is a 5 minute job each side though .
      First service - It may be noted that Guzzi place a restriction on the engine until first service. This reduces the power, reduces the rev limiter, and lowers the revs for the up-shift light. It is reset at first service 1,000km.

    Curious how the v7 compares to Royal Enfield's Continental GT 650cc. Love this bike and has plenty of power. Interestingly the Moto Guzzi appears to put out slightly less HP even though the displacement is larger. Could this be due to shaft drive vs chain drive & bike weight?

      The weight shouldn't make a difference as to the power output on paper, just the power to weight ratio and therefore the feel. But the shaft drive will make a difference. Having ridden both back to back though the guzzi actually feels quicker than the enfield twin but only by a slim margin.

      There are some small improvements on the V7 III but you can pick up some bargains on the V7 II and it's easier to customise, more exhaust options more aftermarket parts so I would go for that one personally. Performance wise you don't really gain or lose much.

    Given it’s a shaft drive, it may also be compared to the old Honda Deauville NT700. There aren’t many mid-range shaft drives these days. Also it could be compared to the Royal Enfield intercepter, - which would you choose : MG or RE? Good review. Glad you did both RE I & MG V7. I’m not about to swap my T120, but I may consider one of these very adequate bikes in a couple of year’s time. Cheers, Pete

      I did in the end. If I was buying new I might have gone for the RE because it's really good value for money. The Guzzi feels like 'more bike' and a second hand one at the moment is a similar price to the new RE so that swung my vote.

    If you have one of these, change the default Pirelli Daemon tyres with the Metzeler Roadtech (on the back ) and the Metzeler Lasertec (front), it will change your bike like you have no idea. Pricy tyres though..

    Hi. Adore this bike. I am a 50 year old with zero experience and riding a Mutt 125cc with stabilisers on (L plates) on having done the CBT. I have oscillated wildly between the love of the V7 or a Twin Street as my first and forever bike. The TS has the better reviews in terms of rideability etc etc. I will be aiming for full licence asap and need to get this conundrum out of my head. The main thing that leads me away from the V7 Stone are the numerous reviews/comments I have read about the mystery of finding neutral! Was finding neutral an issue when you rode it? If I am continually stressing about finding bloody neutral it will freak me out.

      It was never a problem for me but I know the gearbox can get warn out if you do a serious amount of city riding. I absolutely loved mine though and I would still thoroughly recomend it to anyone looking for something a bit different.

    When I got interested to having a bike, I new I have to have classic looking bike. And then I saw Guzzi V7 III Carbon! I`m still not sure if I can get that bike, but man.... in my mind it`s most beautiful bike I have ever seen... second would be V7 Stone.

    Did you find it vibey? I just watched another reviewer (Dick Whistles) who said it was noticeably vibey at different rpms..especially on the motorway. Do you agree?

      Not excessively so. It has the regular twin rumble but it didn't bother me anything under 70 or 4000 revs. It will be more vibey in higher revs.

    Amazing - a guy under 45 likes this bike ! Or are you ?
    The bike is a dream for DIY people. To fix the valves on this one is better than going a fishing trip !
    Just buy it if you like to repair things yourself ! - not that repairs will be much needed on this one, but still - you know you CAN !

      No I'm actually 55 I just aged really well, Nivea for men works wonders. It's a brilliant bike I like it a lot. So much so that I actually bought a 2016 version last month.

      I actually don't know from my own experience but literally everyone I have spoken to about it has told me that it is. And those comments are coming from their pillion not from them so I trust the opinion.

    The offset single Speedo just looks wrong to me. I do understand why they made it like that but it does put me off.

      Agreed. I prefer the double clock instead. They have them on the V7II or the more expensive versions of the V7III if it's a deal breaker.

      Yeah I think most people will me fine on it. I'm 5'10'' so I have no issues. The only thing I would say is that if you have longer legs you'll probably have to sit further back so your knees fit the scalloped tank which means you'll probably be leaning a bit further to reach the bars but you'll have to test it.

      The stone is the base version so they should all have the gear indicator.

      @@RarefiedRoad you're a man of considerable wisdom in the biking world. Would you mind giving your thoughts on a matter? My dream bike is a BMW R Nine T (Pure), but seeing im not a wealthy man, would you say a Moto Guzzi V7 lll is a good and cheaper alternative the BMW?
      Currently I have a Honda CB650R (2019)

    Don't mix the classic V7's with the new ones please. Not only you, more often than not i see this. This is the 3rd iteration of the bike since 2008 that it got reintroduced. The first one got discontinued by 1975 and it was not with the "small block" V-2 engine like the modern ones.

      Additional feedback since i own the bike, and i was particularly interested on this review. You did some well informed observations about the bike, the quality the orientation, but even to the specifics, like the comment about the side stand, which is an issue for the "tester" but not for the owner, as people do get used to small inconveniences over time! Not just a "good" review, but a great one, from a guy that does have his sensors on when trying out a machine! Keep it up m8!

      @@nestorasbellas6604 Thanks, I really appreciate the feedback. Thank you for correcting the history error, It's tough finding accurate info about model changes, there's a lot of misinformation online and it's hard to filter it out so thank you.
      I really liked the V7, honestly I think it's the top contender for my new bike this year.

      So dumb. All it does is make routine maintenance that much more difficult and, as a result, most folk probably “don’t” change their oil filter with every oil change. smfh
