These are definite important facts that are not easily shared to the general public, but your unselfishness in sharing and making us all aware of what could and does happen on a daily basis is so helpful to us. It helps to educate us so we are not ignorant to these important issues of life and i just want to say thank you so much for sharing your lives with us. We are better because of you two. We love you much, praying for you both and your families, and when you're in southern California after you're wedding, and you need a baby sitter for the twins, call me! G-Mommie Vangie's got you covered.

Awww...Cole, I know it's hard sharing such personal information, but, we (and I know I speak for many) really appreciate you being so open to share this information. Those who do not have spinal cord injuries take a lot of things for granted and these videos bring awareness to us. So, thank you!!! And, Charisma, I really felt for you when you guys told the story about Cole's shoes, but thank goodness Cole has such an awesome attitude. ♥️ 😊

Thank you for taking the time to talk about this. It’s a constant battle to bring awareness of disabilities. Cole just needed an excuse to hug Charisma with the pressure sores. Watch out for those bars. I have heard UTI’s are common. I wish there was a way to stop them for you. Temperature regulation is a problem for me too (brain surgery involving the cerebellum). Cold showers and heated blanket are my friends. Shoes can cause problems. Don’t feel too. I have done that. I don’t have feeling in one foot. Heart attack talk. You are too young for that.

Hello Lovebirds... thank you for sharing your story about UTI. I had an individual who would get UTIs. I’d work with him for 16 years & no one not even his doctors had explain to me it was in relationship to his urine bag he was getting UTIs from time to time. He has CP (Cerebral palsy) & is in a wheelchair. I’m a (DSP) Direct Support Professional, an ambassador for Ohio DSPs. I advocate to bring awareness about proper care of those who have disabilities so they don’t have to experience things like pressure sores, just to name a few. It is the right of those who have disabilities to live a normal life with out being identify by their disabilities. I am also a DSP Council board member through OADSP (Ohio Alliance of Direct Support Professional). The information that you have shared in this video will help me take issues that I’m seeing within my field to our Director of Ohio developmental disabilities. Thank you so much lovebirds this video has truly educated me. Continue to Stay Positive 💋

I'm not in a wheelchair yet but the doctor said that I should be but I'm to stubborn! I had a severe UTI in June and in no time it turned into sepsis Shock, I was transfered out of town to a bigger hospital and on the way there I had a heart attack, then when I get to the hospital and see my husband is there waiting I just passed out because I knew I was safe with him. I went into respiratory failure after arriving at the new hospital and while the doctor was intubating me I had a massive heart attack. So in all I had a UTI, Sepsis Shock, kidney failure & damage, respiratory failure, 2 heart attacks, heart failure & damage and I was on life support for 10 days! Love you guy's and I enjoy your video's.

so here's how y'all just helped me: i don't have a SCI but i do have a disability + i did just start using a custom wheelchair part-time.
i've been super anxious about using it; because i also have OCD + a bit of social anxiety, immersion therapy techniques were recommended.
that means for the first few weeks, i use the chair everywhere i go, even if it's just a quick store run + my cane would otherwise suffice.
part of my anxiety comes from the looks + comments i get when in a chair + people see me move my legs or stand. 🙄
so, tonight, i had to make a store run + the parking lot was pretty busy. still, i got my chair out of the car, sat down, + headed for the store, head down.
when i got to the door this guy who wasn't at all paying attention, ran into me even though i stopped when i saw him coming. so now, i'm flustered, embarrassed, heart beating a little faster, etc.
i pull over + decide to resume watching this very video even if it meant i could only listen to you two.
focusing on y'all's voices and the content gave me a welcome distraction. y'all's voices were soothing, the content caught my attention + kept it. it was perfect!
i was able to release some of the anxiety + accompanying tension + complete my mission.
i do appreciate the two of you, your willingness to be vulnerable, + the work you put into the content you give us. it's helped in ways you probably couldn't have even imagined.
    THANK Y'ALL SOOOO MUCH!
    ❤✊🏾,
    Smalls

Its so amazing how you make things so comprehendable. A lot of the times all these scientific words make it so difficult to understand. I have been on disabilty for more than 10 years. I injured 4 and 5 of my lower back at work. At first it was all about a pulled muscle, but the more aquatic therapy, the excruciating pain was so unbearable
Finally they approved an MRI. WC. Ending with both discs crushed, which I feel was from the extensive therapy. After 4 months I lost the ability to walk. I had surgery 4 layers later. I was supposed to go home the following morning, but nope I couldn't walk at ALL.
The nerve had swollen so bad, the compression was a nitemare. I had heard the nurses sayin in recovery where are her compression hose. They immediately put them on not even mentioning it anyone. I told my doctor, he was not happy then after 2 days.
Dr. Asked me how was,my walking coming along. I told him I hadn't been out of the bed, he LEFT the room and it wasn't a pretty site as
that day 2 nurses lost their jobs. I was so upset. I surely didn't want that.
    I went home after 5 days,and praise God I using. A,wheelchair.
4 days after being home I developed a 22cm blood clot,in my right leg. It caused a loss of,blood, flow from my buttocks, groin, leg. And,foot. I have been diagnosed with chronic pain and blood floor, neuropathy in both legs and feet. Drs. Have wanted me to have a spinal cord stimulator, I just can't take that chance. Standing is not. An option the pain in lower back intolerable. Walking Not!
Laying down helps the pain but all my limbs are either burning, throbbing, stabbing, numb, I'm afraid I'm going to loose my toes and fingers both of which turning black,at tips.
    What's a girl to do?
Cole you are a fine young man, inspirational, and opening up your world,is so amazing giving so many a door to open in their lives.
Thanks so. Much both of you for all you do.
    God bless you always.

Yes! It’s very important to take good care of pressure-sores, I’m a Caregiver myself and all we need to do is simply turn our residents as often as we can, it’s kind of like leaving your car in one spot for a long time and the tires are flat. Thank God you have someone to take good care of that. Keep up the good work. 👩🏼‍🦰🌺

I have enjoyed your videos so much! You two are an incredibly blessed and precious couple. You both radiate hope, love, kindness and respect. Last night, my husband and I ate at a restaurant and the husband of the couple sitting next to us, (while we waited to be seated) was paralyzed and in a wheelchair. Because of your channel, I had so much respect and admiration towards this couple! I hope I get to meet you someday.

AD is pretty cool (given that you catch it and interpret it as quickly as Cole describes here). The direct cause and effect warning signal system is so valuable. Learned something new.
