How to DIY a Wall Sconce Anywhere! - wireless light fixture - add accent lights - DIY light fixtures
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 бер 2021
- This ‘anywhere’ light is such a fun way to easily add a wall sconce to your home. There’s no need to pay an electrician to hardwire the fixture, and there’s no cord hanging down your wall. These awesome puck lights are remote controlled and have a dimmer and timer! It’s also a good way to test out having a light fixture in a location before permanently adding it. You can find some of my favorite wall sconces on my ‘Anywhere Light’ blog post (under DIY).

I have always wanted to put sconces up but didn’t want the wiring!! Absolute game changer!! Thank you!!!
Me too! You're so welcome!
Great. I like your audacity. Thanks for sharing such great ideas and you do not have to contract most times a male to hardwire your project. Girl you will go places. Appreciate. I have subscribed to you channel. I will be looking for more. I am going to use your inspiration on my front porch this spring and summer.
The front porch is a great spot! Thanks so much~
Love this! Quick and to the point! Thank you!

Genius idea... exactly what I was looking for. Thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Very clever and absolutely amazingly beautiful 😍
Thank you! 😊
The way you literally saved my life. I have a bathroom that only has one outlet and I need it for straightener and blowdryer, so I cant plug in a plug in sconces. It also is n a very awkward spot that wouldnt reach my mirror, but I needed extra light since its hard to see myself putting on makeup. And Its in a apartment so I cant hardwire stuff into the wall, so this is perfect!!!!
I'm so glad! You should also know that there are battery operated light bulb sockets that can go in a lamp - making the lamp cordless. rstyle.me/+uhHMuiU8OqNgVpa2vuFjrg
you are briliant !!! thank you Amy !!!!
Wow, thank you!
Absolutely helpful. I will be doing that trick soon. Thanks
Glad it helped!
Beautiful 😍 light installation using puck light's
Thanks, Joan!
I love it!! I found out about this last year!👍🏽
So cool!
I sort of did the same thing, but with a $10 lamp from Walmart. I removed the wiring, attached a puck light to the bulb covering (it was that type of lamp). I originally had it by my kitchen sink, but have since moved it to a dark closet, on the shelf. I just hold the lamp and press the puck light.
Great idea! From Germany, thank you! 🤗
Thank you! 😊
Love this idea!

Brilliant!
Thank you!
Thank you so much!!!!!
You're welcome!
Amazon sells wireless wall sconces. I just installed 2 0ver my built in bookshelf.
Yep, there are so many different styles now too.
Looks great! Does one remote control work for both lights or do you need two?
Both! That would be a pain if not :)
How has it held up so far?? Also, is it possible to only turn on one light at a time with the remote or does it only turn on both lights at once?
The sconces are still going strong. I don't use the accent lighting a lot in this space, but it's fun for ambiance sometimes. If I stand on one far side, I can get just one to turn on, but I would only want them both on for aesthetics.
What music are you using?? Please it's amazing
I'm sorry, not sure. It's just a built-in option in my video editor, Power Director.
Great vid, what's the background music artist or title ?
Thanks! Not sure, it's built-in to editing software I use, CyberLink Power Director.
This is what I've been looking for for beside my bed. Where did you get the remote control lights? Ive looked at home depot. Also how much light do they give off and how often do you have to change the batteries?
You can use this puck light with remote: rstyle.me/+v1oToqWcfXqOvTIob981JQ
Or, an actual recharging remote bulb that I now use so I don't have to replace batteries: rstyle.me/+OvcvgYyLLDImPwQY_vSyTA
@@Amy804Sycamore Thanks for the link. I had the same question. How do you recharge the bulb if the socket its in is not hard wired? Do you unscrew the bulb and put it into another socket that is hard wired to recharge it and then put the bulb back into the non-hardwired fixture?
I just got battery operated on Amazon. They have a rechargeable light bulb. So much easier
I had to watch with the sound off so you might have said, but if I keep the lights on for five or six hours a night, how often will I have to replace the batteries? Looking for livingroom lights in a small room where lamps don't work well, but where there is a lot of vertical wall space.
That's a great question. You could probably find out the life of the lights on the description of the puck light you're considering purchasing.
I tried battery operated puck lights in my hallway and was very dissatisfied with how short the battery life was in them. I was using rechargeable batteries and only getting about 16 hours of life out of them. You might try buying just one light to test out how long the batteries will last in it before investing in more than that.
How do you sync both bulbs? Do you have a special remote?
Great question. I just pressed the on button and then the off and they worked at the same time - no special syncing involved.
Curious is the pucks are warm white or the harsh blue?
That's a good question! When you turn them on they have the blue tint, but once they're in that glass shade, they warm up and have a warm tone, no blue at all.
Hi! Can you tell me what bracket you used? TIA!
Hi Erica, I'm not sure what you mean by bracket. The wall sconce came with a means to attach it to the wall, and I used velcro to attach the puck light. Hope that helps. Thanks, Amy
Hi! Is this something safe to put in a bathroom? (Next to bathroom/shower room mirror for example)
Yes, these bulbs are fine in kitchens and bathrooms.
How would you replace the batteries in the puck light?
They're attached with velcro, so just pull it out of the light and unscrew the back plate.
Love it, I have two and am baffled of how to hang them. The backing is odd.
If you decide where to hang them and there's not a stud there, just make sure to use anchors in the drywall~ Good luck, they'll look great wherever you decide.
@@Amy804Sycamore Oh, thank you. I was going to Home depot for help. 😂
I couldn't really see the bracket and didn't see it listed in your supplies. Did it come with the sconce? Do you have a source where this bracket can be found? Without, no hangy sconce, right?
A bracket comes with every light fixture.
Do they both work with the same remote?
Yes, they do~
Hi. Question..why did you leave the wires? I’ve seen others cut them out?
It isn't necessary to cut them as demonstrated here. Not cutting them allows them to be used somewhere else in the future plugged in
Great question! I left them in just in case. We may have them hardwired there or elsewhere, or I may sell them someday. THere's no reason to cut them, they easily tuck inside~
Can I use this for a reading light??
Maybe. But you may consider the magic bulb which is brighter and remote operated as well: rstyle.me/+Atmqa1raZj2mddbiZ5RCbA
@Amy804Sycamore
Do you just snip the original wires off?
Thanks!
Good question! No, I just tuck them up into the base of the wall mount. That way I can have them hardwired in the future, or sell them.
I very much love this hack but my only question is are the lights bright enough?
They are not bright like a task light. They are truly an ambiance light. However, my husband has them in his closet so that he can get dressed with some light and not wake me up with the room light.
@@Amy804Sycamore I just ordered some similar lights that are battery operated and I’m hoping they will give me a bit brighter light that I am looking for. I love what you’ve created here and would definitely consider these for places i want more ambient lighting. Great hack!
You now can just buy remote control light bulbs that will screw in
You're right! I made a more recent video using them here: ua-cam.com/video/e6wj8oOg3zw/v-deo.html
Good lamps, Installation is difficult for me.
.
Do the pucks ever fall out?
They haven't yet! The velcro adhesive is crazy sticky and strong, but I suppose gravity can take it's toll over time.
Can u show it at night? Doesn't look bright at all
They're sort of like night lights or peel 'n' stick under cabinet lights. The batteries don't last long in puck lights when used often. 4 puck lights are about as bright as a regular 40-watt bulb.
They're not bright. These are definitely for ambiance and not task lighting purposes.
Who is the artist behind the music ?
I'm sorry, not sure. It's just a built-in option in my video editor, Power Director.
How did give electricity
It doesn't, it's wireless. That's what makes it an anywhere light - batteries or a rechargeable bulb.
@@Amy804Sycamore thanks .didn't read description carefully..
Looks great, but ugh, batteries!
So true! I finally upgraded to these magic bulbs: rstyle.me/+P5m33EwMgIi0KdZbfqBogQ
Now you got that up, but you really didn’t show how. There was no view of the wiring connection which is the main part. And to speed up the demonstration looses all touch from the viewer. Now do it slowly and show the wire connections.
There are no wire connections. That’s why she uses battery-powere puck lights.
This project is for those who aren't wanting to hardwire a sconce. It bypasses that step because it's a battery operated bulb.
batteries don't last long.
