I'm from the U.S and in the U.S we have BBC America. I started watching Top Gear with jeremy clarkson in 2011 after stocking a shelf of Top Gear DVDs. BBC America in the U.S decided to release Top Gear on DVD, and never seen it before. a few people told me to watch it. I watched the last years of Top Gear with jeremy clarkson 2011-2015. wish I can fly over to the U.K to see the World of Top Gear Exhibition.
Thanks for this Stewart, really sad to see the exhibits going; hopefully they’ll be on display elsewhere in the UK again at some point. Such a massive part of so many childhoods.
the last episode i ever watched was the one where Hammond and May showed the last bits of film alone in an empty studio that was used to store random crap at the time
@kevinlovett8477 I remember it well. It was the final episode of series 22. It was strange having no studio audience or outro music. It was also sad not to have Jeremy there with them.
Fairly sure they're all getting scrapped. They're still owned by the BBC and it sounds like they want to brush it all under the rug! Not entirely sure closing the Top Gear exhibition was solely Beulieu's idea either. The guy who opened the car museum in Taunton apparently wanted to get them, but he's had no reply from several BBC contacts.
The whole site needs a major rethink. Museums have a difficult task at staying fresh but compared with many overseas motoring museums this place is struggling and will find itself in trouble. Been 3 times in 25 years and it looks same. The Topgear exhibition deserves saving but not in a tent!
Though I agree in part, I do like the fact that there are lots of other things of interest on the site other than the museum itself. You could easily spend a whole day looking at Palace House, Beaulieu Abbey, the Secret Army Exhibition, the gardens and ride the monorail. I'm interested to discover what will replace the Top Gear Exhibition and whether it will give the place a new lease of life. Thank you for your comment.
@@thatguyinthefirebird Yes the other bits are great, but how many times can you look at the same thing? It was known as National Motor Museum….if that’s the best we can do compared with Porsche, Ferrari LeMans and plethora of other continental museums, even hotels! it’s just such a shame that’s all. The one at Castle Donnington circuit was brilliant but look what happened there. Haynes is just a book shelf of cars. Yet to visit new one in Taunton. They all need to bring in younger generation as we older folk can’t keep propping them up.
Unfortunately the bbc have the top gear cars on show as a exhibition, hence why it is a tent and not a building. Beaulieu are doing exactly what you have suggested and making some changes to their museum, following the top gear exhibition demise Beaulieu is building a new exhibition Centre and more. Unfortunately the BBC didn’t allow any of the top gear cars to be sold to Beaulieu or any other private builders. As we speak all the cars have been reportedly scrapped bar 1 or 2, this was done by the BBC:(. If Beaulieu had the chance to display these cars In their own facilities on their terms, the cars would still be hear today and potentially still running.
nice suggestion from youtube, I'm a big top gear fan and I didn't even know this existed... although noone ever talked about and I never googled it... Such a shame, I would have loved to visit it. A piece of history torn down.
@UKfromadrone It is indeed a shame but I guess all good things must end. It will be interesting to see what happens to the cars in the future. I do know that they are all owned by the BBC so, ultimately, it will be their decision. You never know, you might have a chance to see them on display somewhere else one day.
Stopped watching TG when Clarkson was thrown out and Hamster, captain Slow left. It went rapidly downhill and never regained it's kudos offer that. The Buggering Boys Club tried to keep the same format but it did not work for me using different personalities. Shame really, as it used to be the best thing on the BBC. The reliant space shuttle was genius and anything involving the destruction of a caravan or a CV was brilliant.
My favorite episode/special was the one where they went to Butch Cassady's house Jeremy had the Porsche 944 Richard the green 1970's Mach 1 Mustang and James had that red Lotus.
I have to say all the cars at Beaulieu there are a poor standard, and not really that well looked after, (lots have rust, knocks, bangs on them) and the top gear just looks like a dumping ground. Beaulieu is somewhere you would only visit once unless there is a special event on. Obv's the exception to the usual anoraks that have no life or friends. But there are better car places to see in the UK, and private collections that are mint that are opened various wks of the year (and aren't supercar heavy, but great ranges of fords, vauxhalls, absolute mint, low mile, nia on heritage cars)
@Mike-xq1cq I'm sorry to hear that. I spoke to the museum staff about the fate of the vehicles but all they could say was that the BBC owned them and ultimately it was up to them what happens next. I wish they would save at least one or two but I guess it's not to be.
@@Rambogner It's a display replica. It doesn't have any of the tech, just a simple bodyshell attached to hollow imitation rocket boosters. The eagle-eyed among you may have spotted the lack of upside down Top Gear Logo on the Robin's off-side/starboard wing.

That's very encouraging to hear. So many have commented that the vehicles are being scrapped and some have said that they already have been. Perhaps we shouldn't jump to conclusions so easily. What are your favourite memories of Top Gear? Did you ever have a chance to visit the exhibition?

I hope the Hilux and the I-Eagle Geoff don't go to scrap. Because they are my most favourite vehicles in top gear and they represent the show icon.
Geoff also has a perfectly good TVR chassis under it, would be a waste to just scrap it even if it gets to that point.
