i never got military training and i'm surprised on the amount of thought that has been put into analyzing to the smallest detail every single aspect. @@zoshida ofcourse! shooting matches, hunting, some of my friends i shoot with have no attention span to watch or read rescources like this so ive taught them to shoot better and its awesome :) ( i know what you actually meant and no lol)
Excellent presentation but need to improve on the camera work. Camera focused on the instructor instead of what he was pointing out on the screen. Missed a lot of what he was demonstrating through the screen.
In the ADF we were basically taught when shooting prone to have the rifle basically on target and then approach it from 45 degrees and take your position from there My favourite moment during basic was when we did our first shoot (5 rounds to make sure you’re not a total idiot). They styer could change from right to left handed but only the armoury was allowed to do that so all right handed people took their issued rifle but left handed people were waiting on the armoury to change theirs so they shared one prepared by the instructors A mate of mine who was left handed did the shoot first, we were specifically told to only perform the actions ordered when touching the weapons. We were to fire 5 times on command The “go on” command was issued and my mates rifle goes “brrrrrt!” An instructor comes over screaming “why did you do that? the weapon should be in semi!!!” My mate goes “this is a left handed rifle I was told not to touch until i was going to fire, I didn’t set it up”, the instructor was like “ahhh yea I did that, I should have double checked, my bad you passed” First thing my mate says when he comes back to the shed was “well full auto works” hahaha I’ll never forget that
No. With the M4/M16, sling tension can shift the point of impact. One can install a free float handguard in order to abate this, but the army has not yet seen fit to do so.
Semblance of anonymity old man, Not everyone in the service wants their entire face for the internet to see and identify. considering that's not a uniform cover but a ball cap, The presenter probably had him wear it to minimize the identity exposed.
Great stuff. First firefight in 83 (11B) last in 2008 (civvie). About 10 tours between the two and absolutely not boasting. POINT IS, I almost never shot from the prone supported in combat. I respect this and the AMU, but it needs to become more Battle Focused Punching paper targets and being comfortable before you pull the trigger is NOT reality. Competitions are not the mission. Combat is the mission
@johnmcalister3620 Salute to you and Warthog above. It does has its place to train the fundamentals. You take care. I grew up on the M21/m24. Wish I could have gotten my paws on a Barret before I retired! Salute!
If its too low or high, you adjust your stance. Whole point of this information is teaching you how to adjust natural point of aim. Up and down isnt a factor because that is as simple as leaning back or forwards. Minimal strain added and doesnt change your body dynamics, steering the gun with your arms rather than your body adds unnecessary strain while also running the risk of ruining your cheek weld. drive the gun with your hips, dont steer it with your hands
@@dierdred_the_grayno you do not adjust stance because that takes muscle and muscle means inconsistent recoil resistance which will produce vertical groupings. My perspective on this is as a CMP-USAMU Military Rifle Instructor assisting the USAMU deliver SDM Training and as a US Distinguished Rifleman.
@@charlesludwig9173 So you teach your students to aim with their arms when switching targets rather than driving the gun with their hips? Interesting, Considering everything ive ever been taught as well asa have seen from professional shooters like Jerry Miculek is that when adjusting from targets you drive with your hips, You only use the arms for vertical adjustment such as when you look up at a target on a second story window, you lean into the weapon and raise your sight onto the target, But if its a target to the left or right of your prior engagement, you drive with the hips, Smoother, faster and doesnt fuck with your cheekweld or sight picture.
"there are enemies shooting from all sides, artillery is raining down on us, bob just died.. but make sure to be relaxed and comfortable while shooting" 😂😂
very good. the only part I find odd is the "closing the eyes to relax and then open to see if you are on target"...just does not seem applicable to combat, maybe good for target practice or sniper duty though.
Ryan the BMXer This is taught during training to help the shooter develop muscle memory. You are correct that this is not an intended drill for combat but rather a skill developed from it to allow natural firing position in combat/sport.

Not a fan of his trigger finger placement. I get that it's military training but I feel like trigger discipline is more important amongst professionals handling firearms regularly.
safe and controlled environment with a firearm rendered clear. Trigger finger placement is also key to shooting fundamentals. When i was in, the number of people I saw who were fucking up their trigger pulls until my Cadre showed them how to do it properly was nuts. Agree with Javier, less camera time on the instructor, more on the slide so you have time to see/read it.

Yeah. I'm too old for all that running and carrying stuff.
I'm much better suited for a comfy office environment.
Interesting to see the differences in the ways using a rifle is taught in different armies.
Nobody does it better than the US military. Us Americans sure do love our weapons
