    Please see the following statement from my friend Jason Perez, who was the person central to seeing this version of Puerto Rico brought to life. He poured a lot of his work, skill and experience into this title, and has since been separated from the game moving forward with no forewarning. This is not the way I would want to see his (or any creator's efforts) rewarded. x.com/ShelfStoriesGBL/status/1788396901710082074
    Note: In this initial printing there are four too many “fruit estate tiles” and four fewer “coffee estate tiles” than stated in the Puerto Rico 1897 rulebook. Players can get the missing “coffee estate titles” for no cost here: ravensburger.us/service/replacement-parts/index.html. They should arrive within 7-14 business days.

    As someone who only got into board games recently and as a Puerto Rican, I'm super excited to see this reprinted so I can finally jump into a game everyone tells me is a classic!

    Such a great game! Seems like a good thematic update to the original. I miss indigo, though

    At 11:45 Rodney describes getting workers from the Work Register. He explains that there can be more 'or fewer' workers on the Register than the number of players; but according to the rules (p4) the Recruiter should always place at least as many workers on the Register as there are players in the game. So there can be more workers on the Register than the number of players (due to empty spaces on buildings), but never fewer than the amount of players.
    At 13:11, when explaining the repopulating of the Work Register, Rodney adresses this correctly.
    So no complaint; just thought to post this small thing I noticed.
    I love your videos, which are short and clear, while still being thorough!
    Keep up the good work! 😊

    Love how you put your heart into every video you make, Rodney! Please keep following your excitement!
    I was wondering how come you didn't create one for Power Grid board game. I image this type of game would be right up your alley. Please, if you could find some time to put together a how to play for Power Grid recharged in the best of Watch it played traditions, it would make my world complete 🙏
    Thank again for all the beautiful work you and your team are putting out for all of us to enjoy!!! 🎉

    Thanks for your excellent instructional videos! This was a game we purchased back in 2016. We are from Puerto Rico, and the game did not apeal us too much. This version however is beautiful and full of little things we relate. All that maintaining the same gameplay. I received too the version with the printing error issue (the school in the back of the manual and missing coffee tiles/extra plantains). We contact Ravensburger and they said will send the missing pieces. Since we play a 2 player count, we are only lacking one coffee tile. The art alone and the recruiter role alone, have change our disposition to play this game again.

      So glad you're excited to be trying this game again Francisco! As you wait for the coffee tile, you could use some black marker on one of the extra Fruit tales as a stand in for the needed coffee.

    Great tutorial as always Rodney. I cant understand, however, why would a company like alea choose light green and yellow pieces for fruit and corn ? This renders this version unplayable for me and any colorblind. At this point, it is sad to see their reasoning. Thanks anyways for helping me decide not to buy it. You always provide a great insight. Cheers

      Would it not be rather simple to use a permanent marker to add a mark to each of the yellow pieces?
      That should make them easy to distinguish from the light green ones, even for colour blind players like you.

    Very happy the theming is rechanged. I had heard the mechanics of the game were very good, but I didn't want to play with that theme. I don't like any themes with exploitation, whether from outside or inside sources. I'm delighted the theme is now about farmers owning their own farms with their own wealth. That's a great change!

    Which came first the Role cards of Puerto Rico or the Strategy cards of Twilight Imperium?

    • @brianphipps442
      @brianphipps442 Рік тому +1

      Looks like twilight imperium was published first in 1997. But according to the new Chat AI : “One of the earliest examples of a role-based selection board game is "Diplomacy," which was created by Allan B. Calhamer in the 1950s.”

    • @Naeddyr
      @Naeddyr Рік тому +2

      The role cards of Puerto Rico, Twilight Imperium 2nd didn't have strategy cards; those came in the 3rd edition, inspired by Puerto Rico (and others that used the system after that).

    Hi Rodney, thanks for the great video as always. Is the text being removed from the buildings hinder gameplay ? Is it difficult to choose which building to buy and to remember what you have bought do? This really put me on the fence of buying it, I would love your thoughts on this subject ! Thanks alot !

    • @WatchItPlayed
      @WatchItPlayed  Рік тому +2

      I avoid reviewing or trying to assess these sorts of things, because something I find hindering in a game play experience may not be a problem to another player (and vice versa). Certainly having the text on the tiles could be helpful, but the back of the rule book also has the building information all on one page.

      @@heyenogss1059 There is a misprint on 3 of the tiles (which you can adjust manually, or request a replacement). There were also some issues with the English translation of the rules, but those are explained correctly in the video. I believe they are working to fix this printing when it's re-printed again in the future.
