Just like old British touring cars. The CLK's like the American V8s that would roar down the straights, the GT500's like the agile Minis that would catch them in the corners. Brilliant
I remember when the Sauber C9 would roar down the Mulsanne, the commentators would refer to its sound as very American. Now that Mercedes has used this sound for quite a while, the American identity is gone which is a shame. I wonder if the new Corvette Z06 can do the reverse of that. Cadillac will return the roar back to Le Mans and it will probably be the last, which is quite poetic since Cadillac invented the crossplane V8. Mostly for luxury reasons and not racing because a crossplane V8 is smoother than a flatplane V8 at the cost of weight. It's basically a halved version of Cadillac's famous V16, for the peasants who can't afford the V16 or the V12.
I think i remember a GT-4(?) Race a few years back on the TT Assen. Top two were a Camaro and a lotus, they were battling lap after lap, lotus winning in the corners, Camaro winning on the straights. Across the line side by side probably 5 laps in a row. Eventually the Camaro lost out due to higher tyre wear but it was great to watch live.
@ John carl American Cars haven't lost any of their defining identity in fact they've added handling to the American Thunder over the past 20+ years taking the challenge to the rest of the world, now American Cars are the ones to beat when you go to motorsport events.
And it's true even outside just NFS logic if you think about it. The CLK is a bespoke European race car that has a homologation road-going version that is basically the definition of 'exotic'. The GT-R may be a bit too high-end as a base car for being called a 'tuner', but it still checks out otherwise, as a Japanese sports car that has been tuned to turn it into a proper race car.
The Merc is 100% a power build lol I feel like a good driver in a Merc should always be able to beat a good driver in the Nissan, but it's just so much easier to be a good driver in the Nissan.
This mashup reminds me of the touring car races in the '60s and '70s. You had the huge, heavy, but powerful American Mustangs and Camaros with their oversized V8s plummeting down every single straight, and you had the tiny, light and agile Minis which came pouncing right back at them in the corners. Such good racing in that era.
That was only in the mid 60s and by the late 60s, the Mustangs became even faster. There was one race where a Mustang BOSS started in last place due to a penalty and finished third. They issued displacement limits soon after, effectively banning any Trans Am cars. Australia didn't though, so Mustangs and Camaros reigned supreme in Bathurst for a while before the oil crisis happened.
I wish they could create events where you can only use cars from a certain era or type, like only 90s le mans cars or just touring cars from 2000 to 2010

So glad I discovered this channel. Good video as always and hope you hit a mil soon
that lookback at 1:40, impressive
There seems to be a bug with TC. I've found that if you don't go into warmups it seems to reset your TC to default 3 sometimes. If you go into warmups, you don't actually have to get on the track. You can sit in the pits. But going into warmups seems to acknowledge your TC settings.
Bro just started watching your videos again your content is always intreating to watch and the commentary pretty solid keep being you stay safe out there 🤜
I would like to see the DTM cars there too.
have a SUPER weekend Steve! thanks!
TCS turns on when u stay on the matchmaking screen, as soon u're qualifying during matchmaking, TCS turns off for the race.

This type of race is why I like the TranzAm servies different styles of cars hitting similar laptimes but in different ways 👍
