For a spooky goofy comedy set around Halloween, my wife and I enjoy Don Knotts’ “The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.”
Yes!
great movie
Atta boy Luther!
Love this one! My family watches it every Halloween.
Topper and Topper returns...oldie but goodie
Anyone remember "Something Wicked This Way Comes"? That one seems to always get overlooked.
Finally got a DVD copy of it recently, enjoyable movie. Sad Disney won't put it on Disney + considering it is a Disney movie. But Disney has other bigger problems right now that they need to deal with.
Couldn't agree more, with your recommendation and with your comments
Ray Bradbery 😱😱😱☠️👻 I enjoyed this back in the day 😂
Yes that's good 👍
@The Cobwebs Channel, put "Something Wicked This Way Comes" on his Autumn watching list as it is set in Autumn not Halloween specifically.
Ernest scared stupid was a Halloween staple for me and my brother. Now my daughter and I watch it every year!
^This completely. Ernest Scared Stupid is a top-tier Halloween movie. 😊
Miak
I LOVE Ernest Scared Stupid!! It is so much fun to watch!!
The Halloween Tree.. it's an adventure through different cultures and their little piece of Halloween.. ever since i first saw it, there's no Halloween without it
Cool that'd Bradbury, too I have the book! I forget it though, I'll have to watch and read
@@floodkevin4716 definite classic, i recommend :)
Just made a party about this lol. I love this movie for years it was so hard to find and my VHS copy didn't survive so glad you can find digital copies of it now
@@aspetty a party? awesome idea.. i'm glad it was converted too :)
They gave years of their lives to save their friend ❤
This one makes me feel so many feelings 😂
The Midnight Hour - 1985 made for tv movie starring Shari Belafonte-Harper (daughter of late Harry Belafonte), Peter DeLuise (son of Dom DeLuise), Deedee Pfeiffer (sister of Michelle Pfeiffer), actor from that 70s Show that played Red Foreman), LeVar Burton (of Star Trek The Next Generation and Reading Rainbow fame), and the voice of the late Wolfman Jack.
I remember watching that while staying at my grandparents 👻
I'm watching this to see if The Midnight Hour is on here. Definitely my favorite Halloween movie of all time! Love it!
That's a good one. Good cast, good story, and fun too.
I remember that! Very well!
Have you seen it since it originally aired? I've looked for it and have never been able to find it?
'Dark Night of the Scarecrow' is one of my annual Halloween favorites. Not specifically Halloween based, but a great 80's scary movie, perfect for the season! 🎃🎃🎃
I totally agree and I also made a comment about it. Well, some of it does take place on Halloween, and the last scene is so 'harvesty' with all the cornstalks and pumpkins and of course, the scarecrow!
"Bubba didn't do it " was a line/scene that I remember vividly to this day.
I watch it every October. It's the best made-for-tv movie I've ever seen.
I bought that one.
Most "Halloween Movies You've Never Heard of" videos are full of movies everybody's heard of. Thank you for these suggestions I've never heard of! 🎃
I could not agree more, great video
It says “might never heard of” read it again lol
Arsenic and Old Lace, 1947. Black & white, directed by Frank Capra, who also directed Its a Wonderful Life. It has a similar vibe except it’s Halloween instead of Christmas. Whole thing happens on Halloween night and is a slapstick comedy. Excellent movie.
Night of the demons is also a pretty good Halloween movie.
Loved that one , original and remake both fantastic!
The sequel from 1994 is really great too!
Disney's animated, "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow"
I think that's a pretty well known classic.
I have a 3 year old. My Halloween this year is just Scooby-Doo and I’m not mad about that.
The night Dracula saved the world (the halloween that almost wasn't) is on UA-cam. It's a tv movie from the late 70s/early 80s, and I've been watching it since I was little. Just a friendly suggestion:)
@@elizabethmunger9066 thanks
Hell Fest is one of my favorite movies. We run a local haunted house with all proceeds go to local charities.
Most of us have seen that movie, and for the one scarer, is convinced that will happen to us. That person has to be within sight of another scarer at all times. Great Movie!!
One of my faves and seriously underrated film!
The atmosphere in that one really sets the feeling of going out with friends to the local haunted house.
Awesome movie.
I know someone remembers HOUSE.
The Third was my favorite. The Horror Show
Haven’t found anything on the internet in ages telling me new movies to watch for Halloween. This vid is a real gem!
Fun fact: Mark Hamhill plays the radio host in Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark.
Hell Fest became a perennial favorite for us since we first saw it in 2018. It's amazing how long it sometimes takes for a film to find its audience.
Shadow of the Vampire is an overlooked classic.
Oh, that movie is amazing.
So good! DeFoe is coming back as Nosferatu in Robert Eggers new film
@@samanthab1923Oh, he's a good choice to play Nos,he already kind of looks that way.
arsenic for old lace, trick or treat 1986, we need to talk about kevin, slugs 1988, night of the demons, silver bullet, ginger snaps, ghostwatch, lady in white, the little girl who goes down the lane, the people under the stairs, deadly friend, house 2, monster squad, the karate kid
Dark Harvest was an underrated Halloween movie that was really well done.
Pumpkin head scared the heck out of me when I was a kid
Did anyone ever watch Night of the Scarecrow? I watched it one Halloween night as a kid and forever associate it with Halloween.
I like how they're not all just obvious horror movies. In fact, the non-horror ones sounded more interesting to me because I can actually watch them with the family. Crom and Funsize in particular. Kenny & Co. sounds good too. As a kid of the 70s I can attest that falling off bikes, fleeing from bullies and having a crush on a girl were just about all we did - often simultaneously.
Very true.
Darn, no mention of 1985's The Midnight Hour with LeVar Burton, Jonna Lee, Dick Van Patten and Kurtwood Smith?! So much 80s nostalgia in that one!!
The Midnight Hour is one of my fave Halloween flicks and desperately needs a damn bluray release. Vinegar Syndrome should put this out...
@@LukeDodge916 the issue is that it is now owned by Disney, scooped up when they bought ABC and its library and the tangle of rights stemming from its amazing soundtrack makes it unappealing for them to ever give it a release again.
But if people were loud enough....
@@boweryboy yeah it's such a shame. I at last picked up the Spanish dvd which is not half bad. And it's now on my shelf...
My Favorite Underrated
Don't forget Shari Belafonte who sings "I'm dead, you're dying. Everybody should try it. Get dead."
Every spooky season I always watch Dolls from 1987.. I believe was done by Stuart Gordon. A great under-rated horror flick that pre-dates Child's Play and Puppet Master.
Awesome film
@@sandraweilbrenner67 I concur. Still have to pick up the bluray though, but I will.
Great movie!
I just saw Dolls for the first time last year. Pretty good movie.
Dark Night of the Scarecrow is a perfect budget spooky movie about a ghost getting revenge on his killers. Highly recommend!
Love "Tales of Halloween" - bite-size tales perfect for your Halloween evening.
Chapter titles would be great for videos like this
“When Good Ghouls Go Bad” might be a TV movie, but it oozes Halloween and has some nice lessons.
I love that one, and found it on dvd.
That is a good one and so is one of the other R.L. Stein movies "Dont Think About it" is also a good Halloween movie
I watch that one EVERY Halloween along with Phantom of the Megaplex!
I found a DVD copy at goodwill! It's still a cute movie.
Kudos for including Tales of Halloween! The film needs more credit. So fun! Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark also needs more credit. A Lot more! It's a solidly creepy flick! Great list, man. I'll gladly check these all out.
Nobody ever mention "Lady in White"
It is a Great movie, had VHS
Lady in White is one of my absolute favourites! Got it on dvd
One of my favorites ❤
Totally Scared me as a kid! A Classic!
That is a good flick and very creepy, but it has nothing to do with Halloween.
It’s not really scary, but Hubie’s Halloween on Netflix is hilarious. So many great actors involved and some really funny bits. The Swiss army style thermos bit kills me!
There's a pretty good one called "Candy corn" (2019). Courtney Gaines from "Children of the Corn" and "The Burbs" is in it.
Also, "E.T." was set around Halloween and is a classic.😊
‘The Skeleton Key’ is a fav that gets forgotten. It definitely gives me the chills and who doesn’t luv Kate Hudson?!
Oh shoot, that’s a Halloween movie? Cool, I’ll check it out!
H@cobwebschannel it's really creepy and Kate Hudson was good.
I don’t. Can’t stand that overrated romcom loser.
Yes.
It's not Halloweenie though.
Hell night was a great scary movie. The 80's were great.
A couple of my friends are the people who produced Curse Of Crom. They have produced a lot of movies and even TV shows (I have been in a bunch of their movies). They are running a Kickstarter campaign to fund the sequel to Curse Of Crom 2 right now! I agree Tales Of Halloween was surprisingly good!
That's pretty awesome! Is there a link for people to follow?
When Ghost Of Dragstrip Hollow came out, my adventurous Aunt took me and my cousins to a downtown theater to see it. The movie showing with it was Martin And Lewis in Scarred Stiff.
"The House's October Built" is one of my favorites!
1000% yes, especially because it's a blend of film and Haunted House documentary
Best found footage movie I've seen and I've seen most of them.
Watching “The Lady in White” is one of my Halloween traditions. Halloween mystery ghost story in a small town from a writer’s memory from his childhood.
UA-cam suggested this out of no where, all the way back around just in time!
Me too!
Same and I love it!
Haunt (2019) was surprisingly really good. Also takes place on halloween night.
You REALLY..need to check out this Halloween themed movie, Boys In The Trees (2016) This ending, you did not see coming. Truly a heart strings puller! VERY WELL DONE out of Australia.
Glad you mentioned that one , I absolutely loved that movie and tell people about it all the time!
The Haunting Hour from R.L. Stein is a movie I've watched every single year since it came out. One of my all time favorite childhood Halloween movies ever. I wish more people knew about it
I loved the tv series as well! It was creepier and aimed at an older audience than the Goosebumps tv series.
Whoa... you actually talked about some Halloween movies I have never heard of! Thank you so much!
I swear every time I watch one of your videos I find new stuff to add to my list. Thank you so much for this awesome video!
Hey, thank you!!
Hollow Gate (1988) Halloween slasher and some of the killer's jokes are hilarious .
Trick r Treat, Scary stories to tell in the dark. 2 of my favorites. "The little girl who lives down the lane".
Night Of The Demons 1 & 2. Definitely Classics.
Curse of Crom is a new Halloween favorite. Its fun and feels like a spiritual successor to Goosebumps. I really enjoy it. And a sequel is coming...
Great list! I was surprised how good Terror of Hallow's Eve was, I thought it was better than a lot of mainstream horror movies. Added Crom to my Halloween watchlist, and also super excited to watch Cobweb. My favourite Halloween movie is a made for tv movie from 1985 called The Midnight Hour, it has all the vibes and it was totally my gateway horror movie!
The Midnight Hour was terrific! I taped it when it was on, and watched it until the tape broke.
I just recommended The Midnight Hour as well; it's a very fun and very underrated Halloween show!
Great video! Quite a few picks that I’ve never heard of.
A few of my favorite lesser known/underrated Halloween set movies are Ghostwatch, WNUF Halloween Special, Haunt and Murder Party.
Can’t wait to check out these new additions this season.
Night Of The Scarecrow is a rare one. BUT so good!
Great list! Worth mentioning: The Terror of Hallow's Eve includes some music from John Carpenter's (yes, that John Carpenter) Lost Themes album.
My go to every Halloween time is Night of the Demons
Trick or Treat 1986 definitely
+10 pts. for the use of "Autumnal." One of the best words.
Absolutely!
I appreciate that you gave love to both Crom and Tales of Halloween.
The 'Houses that October Built' is a great movie with real Halloween flavor.
Kenny & Company getting some love! I always thought this had some inspiration for the Wonder Years.
I saw “Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” in the theater. Had the books growing up and I like Guillermo Del Torro so I was happy to know he read them too 😊. He brought to life the stringy haired woman, the picture that scared me the most as a kid
Solid movie. Wonder if they're doing a sequel that they set up at the end. 🤔
I am so happy you included Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark. I read the books so many times as a kid, and to my surprise, I LOVED the movie. It was so well done, but I didn't hear anyone talking about it when it came out. Great list!
Yes, it’s so good!!
They turned it into a movie?!? I loved that book as a kid!
Thanks for the great suggestions. I am a stickler for finding movies that actually take place
On Halloween for Halloween Night.
There are two Halloween movies that are definitely forgotten; Dark Night of the Scarecrow from 1981, and Hellbent from 2004.
I saw Curse of Crom this year. It was ok. I think I would have liked it better if I was a teenager. I believe the people who made it are part of a group of filmmakers that did an Amazon Prime series called The Witching Season(which I recommend you watch) and a series on UA-cam called Halloween Atmospheres, which is Halloween background visuals and music.
Nice. It amazes me that there are still people who seem oblivious to Dark Night of the Scarecrow. It's easily among the best films of its' kind ever made. And DEFINITELY the ideal Halloween movie. It actually has a more vivid seasonal ambience than even Carpenter's 1978 classic.
I love that there are family friendly ones here too! 😁
Those are the best for Halloween!
The Company of Wolves is a good one and I can’t believe you mentioned Kenny and Co!!!! Also the old school 80s flick Trick or Treat about a baby sitter and a young magician
Omg! I've loved that movie since I was a kid, and NOBODY has ever heard of it! Thanks so much for giving it some cred. That movie is so fun!
@@batshtcrazy5293 lol which one 🙃?All are fun and good !
Cool video Daniel...... some interesting flicks I've never heard of before like the Ghost Of Dragstrip Hollow. Curse of Crom sounds cool too and a few more.
Hubie Halloween with Adam Sandler is a fun one I watched last year for the 1st time. Even though it doesn't happen at Halloween, I always watch The Ghost and Mr Chicken with Don Knotts this time of year.
Anyways....great video....cheers man 👻🎃
Thanks! I actually love Hubie Halloween. haha
The dream scene from COBWEB is still giving me the willies in the middle of the night ❤🎃
Seriously! That scene is SCARY.
Can you do "cozy" horror films? You know the ones that make you wanna curl up under some blankets?
Great stuff man love your narration and pics your decor is banger on fire! lol You made me start thinking of my shared interests in return....STREET TRASH is a great one then there are "accidental horror" movies that werent trying to scare but was still creepy as hell: (like that awful one eyed flying purple people eater movie from the 1980s with neil patrick harris)❤
That final moment of Hellfest really added to the whole thing.
Thank you for this video! It's exactly what I was looking for. I have not seen many of these movies, now I hopefully can find them. Just found your channel by the way, and I'm gonna definitely watch your other videos too!👍👍🎃🙂
Vampire Journals is an absolute GEM of a classic Halloween film. Beautifully shot. And done by Charles Band (I have been in a number of his films as well, including his Killjoy series). Vampire Journals is a must watch every year for me. A Vampire Soap Opera of sorts. In that classic 80’s low budget VHS film style. Absolutely love this movie.
The Uninvited 1944, Abbot & Costello Meet Frankenstein 1948, The Norliss Tapes, Salems’ Lot, & the VVitch 👻
HAUNT from a few years ago is also very good!
Great list! I’m a huge Halloween season fan and I haven’t heard of many of these. I will definitely check them out!
Anyone remember Disney's "Watcher in the Woods"? Was really cool, I don't think it was Halloween based but it was pretty twisted
“Kenny & Co.” Great freakin’ movie, very difficult to find and see. This is a special film! The Halloween elements were depicted very realistically. I did grow up mostly in the 1970s (in Los Angeles), and this film’s movie depiction of Halloween is very good.
“Dragstrip Hollow” is also a great, great hipster flick. “He’s got static in his attic!”
Otis 😂
I ran a blog series with 10 such movies, so just to add some of my own:
Oculus
Dog Soldiers
A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night
Late Phases
The Exorcism of Emily Rose
The Witch
He Never Died
Black Water
Great job pointing out quite a few movies that I never knew even existed! And I agree with you on Cobweb being a great pick for all the Halloween atmosphere. Pleas check out another 2023 new release called Dark Harvest, it's amazingly good
The Terror of Hallow's Eve should be seen by every Halloween fan. I loved that movie and the poster was cool. Great cast as well!!
I've seen a few of these; The Terror of Hallows Eve, Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark and Cobweb. Cool list, I'm going to check out some of the others!
Dark Harvest, I love the atmosphere and the shots of the film. I didn't find the main plot to be predictable like most horror films. It deserves a spot on this list.
I would also recommend The Midnight Hour. AnchorBay put out a dvd years ago and since went out of print. If you can find a copy at a decent price, I would say give it a watch 👍
Monster squad is a great monster movie. If you haven't watched it yet I believe you will enjoy it
Yeah, I like that one!
Hellfest was great! As someone that goes to Halloween Horror NIghts every year it hit home! loved it!
i hope you mention Lady in White - it's so beautiful
I have one classic Movie "Midnight Hour " I watched this as a kid and thought because of your taste in some Halloween movies this is the one and a Big shout out to the animated "The Halloween Tree" with Lenard Nemoy as the scary Guide to teach the different but like minded holidays of old. Bless your gingerbread hearts
Laurel and Harvey meet Frankenstein, Monster Squad.
Do you mean Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein? It’s hilarious
My favorite Halloween movie is Meet Me in St. Louis.
I'M THE MOST HAWRRIBLE!!
I loved seeing how kids dressed up and what they did back then. Margaret O'Brien was adorable.
That movie can be considered a Halloween and Christmas movie.😊
The Midnight Hour - 80's TV movie camp at it's finest
Cobweb has been my favorite horror film in years. Anthony Starr is phenomenal! Now in my Halloween rotation.
I can happily say I’ve only seen 1 out of the 10 movies listed. So I’m excited for Fall/Halloween this year with some loaded ammo for cinema! Thank you!
Thank you for these recommendations, I am right now watching Ghosts of Dragstrip Hollow, and I'm loving it!! I'll watch it again at Halloween!! Some fab recommendations!!
Great idea for a list. Thanks for saying where we can find or stream each one.
Oh, holy carp. Is the arachnid in the classroom going to lead to me freaking out?!?!?
The Simian Line was a made for TV movie that started on Halloween, then ended on New Year's. Don't know if that counts, but it has two ghost characters in it, and its one of those movies where you see things from the ghost' POV, which I like. No one has heard of it!
Great list! So glad I found your channel!
The Haunt (2019)
Oh heck yeah, great choice!
I think it's just titled Haunt
You know the video's popular when it has double the views of your subscriber count! Great job, and some nice recommendations!
It's SO nice that someone not only isn't bashing but outright recommending Hell Fest! It's one of my favorites and I've only ever heard of people say either they never heard of it or that they hated it and I could never understood how. It's got phenomenal atmosphere and is just a great horror movie feels good movie!
Celtic mythology is vast and diverse the Welsh , Scottish , Cornish and other parts of Europe not just Ireland
