      Hell Night... found it incredibly boring. As for My Bloody Valentine & Happy BDay to Me, they had a full on theatrical release. Glenn Ford was paid at least $1 Million for Happy Bday, adjust that for inflation, a pretty high pay day for a slasher. --- Popcorn, love it, but it was a flop at the time, but it did have a theatrical release as well. Heck, I remember commercials playing for it during The Price is Right. Lol.

      Dear Lord, what are you guys smoking? Fall Break (Mutilator) has all the worst qualities a slasher can have; no atmosphere, not a single character that resembles a human being, and slow as hell. The only good thing about is the iconic tagline "By pick, by axe, bye-bye"

    Pretty awesome list. "Madman" has some of the best acting in horrifying situations I've ever seen. The characters aren't screaming their lungs out. They're quiet, shocked, and lots of open-mouthed terror (in the kitchen scene in particular).

    • @alienmindwarp3455
      @alienmindwarp3455 4 місяці тому +2

      The Hidden Rocks!!! Saw it in the theater back then in my early 20s and loved it then, as I still do now. Nightmare 2 was a divergent sequel with 3 feeling like a more natural sequel and reset the course of the franchise. Somewhat maligned with fans who saw its initial release, Freddy's Revenge shows us a weird alternative direction that it could have gone, and it deserves a 2nd look by those who think that they don't care for that one.
      Anyone?

    • @mht5875
      @mht5875 4 місяці тому +1

      The Hidden is another favorite of mine, for a sci-fi movie it has an original story, plenty of suspense and action, and Kyle Maclachlan was perfect as the enigmatic FBI agent/alien. Oh and the soundtrack really rocks, too.

    Just watched the Basil Rathbone Holmes movie " The hound of the Baskervilles" based on your recommendation from your Holmes video, and I was very surprised how much I enjoyed it, Im much more of a fan of the books and the Jeremy Brett series but Mr. Rathbone was a good Sherlock and I enjoyed the rest of the cast, I will say Dr. Watson was just ok to me, he seemed a bit dim sometimes, a little more than I'd prefer Dr. Watson to be, but thats a minor gripe. I really love the set pieces as well.

      While I haven't seen that one of Rathbone I have seen others and he does do a great job as Holmes. Especially in the disguise area as Holmes was so good he could fool his closest friends and there were several from the Brett series that made me go Watson is blind if he can't tell that's Holmes.

    Cool Friday the 13th shirt! Some great choices. I remember seeing Madman with my friends. Wasn't one of the rules that you couldn't say his name, Madman Mars?
    Just before Dawn was a classic. I remember seeing it a long time ago. I think the ending had one of the girls survive, by sticking her hand down the killers' throat, suffocating him. Great stuff.
    I haven't seen Alone in The Dark. It seems to have a good cast. I'm going to have to check it out. Thanks for the videos. They're just what I need to start work!!

    Being a huge horror fan, especially of the 70's and 80's, I've seen all of these. My favorites among these are Just before Dawn and Madman but they are all great. Night Screams is good but I could do without the weird out of place porno clips. Some even deeper cuts I'd recommend are Sorority House Massacre, Killing Spree, Death Screams, Offerings, The Oracle, and Silent Madness. All of these are available on Blu-ray (I own them all along with the ones you mentioned here). I totally agree about liking the characters. Probably why my favorite horror franchises are Nightmare on Elm Street and Child's Play. I must say that I love Madman so much more than The Burning. Madman has likable characters and unique kills. A really great cheesy hot tub scene. The Burning is good but all the characters are terrible. I either find them incredibly annoying or very dull and forgettable. Great list! Please do more of these

    Pieces and Motel Hell. Pieces is a Spanish horror film that has the voices dubbed over (it's very obvious in the film). If you can get over that then it's a pretty good movie. Lots of blood and gore

    The Initiation is a Dallas movie. The "mall" is called the Dallas Market Center, it's actually a distribution center for people who own stores in malls. It's still there but anybody cannot just walk in, you have to have a badge.

    So great to see THE FUNHOUSE greeting some acknowledgment! Hands down Hopper’s best film to me. I’m old enough to have actually seen ii in its original release, twice in the theater & once at the drive-in (YES, I was a BIG fan). Unlike most the other films on your list (some of which I also saw in a theater), THE FUNHOUSE had Universal’s money behind it. Unlike some of those 15:49 other films that had limited budgets & means, THE FUNHOUSE was beautifully shot in widescreen Panavision & had a booming Dolby soundtrack (hard to believe fairly new at the time).

    So...my favorite underrated slasher movie remains HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME from 1981. While it WAS a hit in 1981 and managed to get some double-takes from me for the blatantly garish and giallo-like shish kebab poster, I began to realize as I was re-watching it many times that it WAS the original SCREAM! I mean, yes, it was longer than it needed to be, and it couldn't dare brag about its alleged "six bizarre murders", and the now infamous, "Scooby-Doo" ending emits laughs that I now, lose my water, I still maintain it was more satire than authentic slasher movie. I mean, you can't hate a movie that proves you should never be without a weigh-spotter, never be fed via skewer, never be close to a motorcycle spoke and most definitely - NEVER piss off a best friend when she's trying to one-up you with her clique! Anyway, rant over! Thanks, haha!

    Back in the 80s I got turned off by the vast amount of slackers coming out. I started avoiding them and dipped back into classics by Universal and Hammer. Now as an adult I'm going back and trying to watch what I missed. I can say Madman is one I just watched recently and loved it. We should have had a series and don't remember much talk around it in the 80s. I know people rank The Burning higher but I find that one just boring. Thanks for another great video Daniel
