Thank you so much for including "THE HAUNTING OF JULIA", on behalf of all my fellow Cast, and the Crew, that worked on this film back in 1976, we very much appreciate the support, and the love from all the fans out there for our Film. Also a big thank you to those that have taken the time to watched my video, where I talk about working on the film as a Child Actor, and about the more bloody scenes we shot in the playground, that were not used in the final cut of the film. (a little bit of exclusive behind the scenes film trivia I made for the fans) , Also this was a great list of films to be included in, and as a horror fan myself I love it.

@@MC-po3pg Thank you for Watching "FULL CIRCLE" (The Original Title we filmed it under here in the UK), all through most know it as THE HAUNTING OF JULIA (USA Title release),or from it's original Media Home Entertainment big box VHS Video Tape release in 1982, It is great to hear that our film stuck with you after all these years, it is one of my personal favorites from 50 years working in the TV & Film industry, on a lot of production in that time, so I am always thrilled to hear from someone that has watched it and enjoyed it, Thank you for your comment best wishes from one of the Cast.❤

Such a great movie! I also saw it years ago on Chiller and just loved it! It’s one of those movies that sticks with you. (Picnic at Hanging Rock is also in that category for me.)
I personally made a resolution to not buy any new or new to me physical media for the rest of this calendar year, but, well, rules are made to be broken, yes? Yes!

Haunting of Julia has one of the most jolting moments of horror I’ve seen. Up until that point it’s a slow, moving drama/mystery. But that one moment, put it on my list of scariest movies I’ve seen. Also, the synth score on is great. Keir Dullea’s character is an a-hole and a moron, especially during that choking scene at the beginning.

Been watching your channel recently and it feels like you describe movies somehow customized very similar to how I enjoy films. I really appreciate something you said recently about a certain horror movie being more "kid-friendly" than others on the list you were describing. As a mid-40s dad I have tried to walk a fine line when sharing/facilitating my kids growing up horror/monster fans without being completely warped (my dad had no such line) like me. I am not into modern social media (except watching you tube videos) and this is the first time I have ever commented on any channel/video. I just wanted to say I really appreciate what you are doing and as I mentioned, any time you can share info about potentially watching these type movies with younger kids, it is a big service to the old school monster-nerd parents/caretakers like me. Since I have apparently decided to write any essay; I would like to also share that with my brood (4 kids ages 7-14) we started with the classic Universal Monsters and other black and white treasures, and at different ages in my house they reach certain "milestones". Night of The Living Dead, the TV versions of Halloween 1 and 2, Salem's' Lot (original of course) are some of the "milestones" here they have all aged into. The true yardstick by which we measure "I'm getting big now" movie is Friday The 13th 6 Jason Lives. I am sure some parents would not watch this with their kids at the ages I have but to me that is a good one to get a step into deeper the waters of horror fandom. Sorry for such a long comment, I have subscribed and have a question for you and all your viewers about a movie I am looking for: Many years ago I have a vague memory of watching a movie with my dad, it either opens up or there is an early scene of a family sitting around the breakfast table. It is a typical "suburban family getting ready for the day" scene, that is intercut with a scene of tribal people (possibly Caribbean or African) chanting and dancing in a ritual around a fire. As the family continues eat breakfast and the tribe dances, the dad suddenly stands from the table and exits the room while his wife is concerned he is not answering her inquires what is wrong. The dad locks himself in the bathroom and retrieves a (plugged in) radio before sliding down into the bathtub. As he was being electrocuted this must have freaked me out, because my dad told me to leave the living room. Does anyone remember this? Was this a horror VHS release in the mid 80s or is it a half remembered dream/figment of my imagination? I have wondered about this for years, anyone out there know what I am talking about please share and thanks. Also, no adverse ethnic profiling intended as I described the "tribal" people just speculating on a generic geographic location.

Thank you so much for this comment, it really means a lot. I love hearing that about how you’re introducing monster movies to your kids!
Regarding the movie you described, I’m sorry to say I’ve never seen it, and I don’t think I’ve heard of it. I’ll keep an eye out though.

I, Madman suffered from terrible marketing. The title and original box art made it seem like Shakespearian schlock, so it was never checked out of my local video store, even when it was a new release.

I happen to like snakes, so when my sister and I watched a 3-D Final Destination movie in which a snake seemed to pop out toward viewers, I just pretended to pet it.

I've enjoyed several of these movies, but The Caller and especially After Midnight are sorely underrated. Anthologies are like catnip to me! ❤

Underrated retro horror movies always good to learn about. Most of these I'd never seen of or heard of. Right now there's a great copy of Hells Trap here on YT, though it's Spanish w/Spanish subs. Also a very low-res version of The Caller.

Great show, Daniel! We have a film here in Australia from 1981 called 'The Surviver' same plot as 'Sole Surviver' from 1983, worth checking out too but doesn't look as good.

Sole survival also sounds like one of my favorite films levers, and that's carnival of souls (1962)

Might have to check out The Caller since I'm a fan of Malcolm. I, Madman is another interesting one I might see if I get the chance, but I'll definitely have to make time for Cat and Canary.
As for an underrated retro horror film, I know you said pre-2000s so I might not be able to fully submit Bloody Muscle Bodybuilder in Hell (it was released well after production began because production was suspended for years; it also is Japanese Evil Dead so I feel a lot more people would probably know it). I can, however, recommend The Car (1977). A small town sheriff (James Brolin) has to contend with a series of murders where an unknown car runs people down, but the longer it goes on the more it seems the title villain isn't a driver but a force of pure evil. Fun fact: the guy who custom remodeled the Car is the same dude who made the Batmobile in the 1966 Batman TV series. Even though this film is very similar to Christine (1983) by John Carpenter, that film gets more attention and when you look at The Car's release year you realize why it gets even less mention (A New Hope released that year).

I actually saw After Midnight in theaters when I was in the military, and bought it on DVD, need to upgrade to Blu- Ray.
A couple Blu- Rays I did get a couple years back- The Legacy and Nightmares (an anthology I also did see in theaters when it came out)

I just looked up "The Haunting of Julia" and it IS based on Julia by Peter Straub, a horror novel I read decades ago. Cool.

Last night we watched Ghost Story (1981, I think) with Fred Astaire and Alice Krige. It's streaming on Prime and we enjoyed it. Somehow we had never seen it before now.

The bad husband in the Haunting of Julia was played by the same actor as the bad boyfriend in Black Christmas (Keir Dullea a.k.a. Dave from 2001: A Space Odyssey).
