    Since some questioned if he really could made 7000$. He clarified in other videos that sometimes drunk people pay him too much, sometimes rich people pay him too much, sometimes drunk rich people pay him much too much. So yeah he don't always have to win (7000/5=) 1400 games a month to make that kind of money.

      It's not only $5 a game ( the game is Blitz and the clock is set on 5 min per player) or $20 a lesson (30 min).
      The real money comes from the betting.
      He is after all a hustler.
      And those bets can be hundreds of dollars per game.
      So yes, he wins a lot of money, but as a gambler, he also lose a lot of money.

      $7,000/month is only about $230/day. That's not a lot of money for a long day and with zero benefits.

    . Tournament chess is so uptight! So lame. Street chess is crazy exciting!!! My dream is to play chess in one of those New York parks!! Love it so much!!! I'm gonna drive up there one day and play.. I'm good to but not that good.. but I'll play anybody and I'll love it!!! Nobody beats my trash talk!! Nobody

    At $5/game playing 7 days/week to earn $9000 he would have to play and win 60 games/day every single day. 5 Wins/hour according to him saying he plays from 7am-7pm. No draws or losses. Unlikely.

      They have 5 minutes on the clock, 10 a match, 6 matches/hour. He plays chess fulltime for 7 years. Likley

      He said before that rich people will tip him handsomely and drunk people will hook him up too. So he doesn't have to win/play that many games.

      He takes 5$ for his time: win, lose, or draw. You see very little outright chess gambling out there these days. People pay him to be entertained and not to gamble. And some pay for lessons. After you loose a few times, he may say - "hey, I will take 20$ to coach your for 30 mins, etc."

    Im 38yrs old and i never learned how to play chess. I would ask people how to play but nobody ever had the time or patience to teach me. So i just chalk it up to being a bullshit game anyway

      check out chess.com, they have free lessons and puzzles you can do daily, and you can play against ai at different difficulty levels. It's really helped me improve at the game.

    Man I hope chess hustling lives well into the future, even if they can be cheating bastards sometimes. There’s a certain romanticism with street chess hustling and TC seems like a great guy to learn from. He obviously has mad skills that would CRUSH any dad-master 7 days a week. As a newbie I would love to be taken under his wing and I hope he lives a long life doing what he loves.

      Street hustlers don't beat masters or anyone rated over 2000 most of them are just little 1600-1800 fish who aren't good enough to play in tourneys for cash

      @@tinytim8173 Some hustlers are master strength, but a lot of the weaker ones nowadays play for 'donations'...or you win your donation back if you beat them, but they never take a chance on losing money...because they're not good enough players to play for stakes with strangers, a lot of people would take their money....playing for donations is not really 'hustling'

    He's probably at 1800 to 1900 strength but at the end of the day as long he happy and is able to keep a roof over his head good for him. But I think he exaggerates about the money tho.

      Dunno, if he works 12 hours a day, 29 days a month (28-30). 7000-9000 dollar a month is 23$/hour which aint crazy if play the once he beats as much as they want, while never play the once that beats him ever again, things like that. Plus those students that don't losing and makes steady customers. Last but not least he said he didn't made any money one month, so 7000-9000 he probably said as the best/most he have ever made.

      if he takes 5$ for 5min. games he makes 60$/h. if he plays 5h/days and only take new years eve off he make roughly 108k/year in theory.

      He's 100% Master level. I'm around 1700-1800 rating OTB and know I couldn't do this day in day out. I think internet chess has inflated the numbers...OTB players are stronger than internet players of the same rating.

      Bro, he's playing 5 min games in a very busy area of NYC. He's probably playing more than 5 games and hour, has lessons, and people can bet on the games. Most people off the street are beginners and don't even require the full 5 min clock to beat.

      He’s playing 5 min chess at $5 per game, if he’s out there 12 hrs a day even if he takes a 2 hr lunch break that’s $600 per day 600 x 30 (average days in a month) = $18,000. Keep in mind he’s not even claiming he’s making that much because obviously that would require back to back to back games etc but he said he’s making around $7000-9000 grand per month doing this so looking at that breakdown I totally believe him sorry. 🤷🏼‍♂️

      Hes probably the rare or few thats an Expert level (2000-2199) all the Majority other chess hustlers are around 1600- 1999 max or Class B and Class A Max.

      No way he makes that much money being under 1800. I'm around 1800 and wouldn't feel confident enough to do that day in day out. He has to be over 2000.

    He's right, they maybe called chess hustlers due to being better then the average player and maybe the trash talking is a battle technique, but in the end, real world chess can not be won without skill, memory and strategy.

      @@overlordp.3758 I can imagine though if any of these guys did fall onto tough times, their chess knowledge is a great skill to help them make money anywhere, like you can just pull out a chess board, and I'm sure they'll get a few curious people wanting to learn or play. I wish they had some sort of chess park like this in England, but don't think we have.

      My rating is about 1400 and I got stomped a couple times by street players. I also insisted that he move slow so there would be no slight of hand. Some of them are decent

    Money players (in every game) usually exaggerate how much they win, but this guy is exaggerating to a ridiculous degree...no chess player comes close to making $7K+ a month playing in the streets

      If he's playing in Union Square which is a very busy area, you can be sure he's probably playing close to 10 games an hour. He also gives lessons (which cost more than games), and players bet on games. He's for sure making good money. The problem is he probably works long hours and as he said, doesn't take days off.

      Nothing happened to him. I just met him today, June 17, 2020. Gave me a great lesson. Nice, solid, confident guy!
