    OUR STORY SO FAR:
    We are Cory & Kristen Williams and in August 2014 we made the long drive from Southern California to Alaska to move into our new home in Eagle River. Here we’ve had the chance to explore Alaska, experience lots of wild events, meet lots of great people and endure the extreme temperatures that the north is known for. On December 23rd, 2014 we got engaged after our Polar Plunge under the Northern Lights then later married by our favorite lake on May 23rd, 2015. Then on June 23rd, 2016 we had our first child. A baby girl named Chell.

      Agreed! Don't stop your activities of daily living when they are sleeping or you'll never be able to do anything when they are sleeping. My aunt did this with her kids and you couldn't do ANYTHING when they were asleep. Putting a dish on the counter in the kitchen would wake them up, you had to whisper, etc., it was RIDICULOUS!

  • @EliseLogan

    You're spot on. First, yes. I was never able to manage that "sleep when the baby sleeps" thing - when are you supposed to do things? Second, yes, the sizing on clothes for kids (and babies) is weird. My Munchkin was just under 22" long at birth, but only 7 lbs, 7 oz, so she looked super skinny/tall. She was never the sort of rolly-polly pudgy baby (though she ate and still eats like Jethro on the Beverly Hillbillies). We found (and still find) that certain brands are more for long/not rolly babies and other brands are more for rolly/not so long babies. The Wal-Mart brands tend more toward the second, Old Navy toward the first. Carter tends to run toward the middle. We also found that putting Munchkin in t-shirts and pants or other two-piece outfits worked better, because she'd size out of one half before the other, so we'd get longer use out of things. Third, yes, the owl is for diapers. Fourth, I used my maternity cup for.. um.. years after I had Munchkin. Until the plastic got brittle and cracked. Y'all are doing a great job!
    Side note: if you are looking to donate the things she's grown out of, consider checking with women's shelters or family shelters. They are often in need of items for infants.

  • @lucysimons9896

    Tip: You don't want to store cloth diapers in an air-tight container. Due to the elastics, they need to breathe. If you cut off the airflow, the elastics can become brittle and not stretch any more. I store mine in the bottom drawer of my baby's dresser or I've heard people use old pillowcases too.

    • @wiesnerfamily
      @wiesnerfamily 8 років тому

      wow I never knew that. I cloth diapered my kiddos and didn't think about the elastic going bad. I know they should be air dried after washing though.

    Let Chell hear normal music when she's asleep, that way, she'll somehow get used to the noise and won't get startled when she hears a squeak or voices or so.

      ***** Only if you let her. If you walk around quiet and whispering she'll wake up when the wind shifts directions. My mom turned a fan on in my room. I still sleep with it on today and I can and have slept through a tornado.

    • @UncoordinatedPixie
      @UncoordinatedPixie 8 років тому

      Micheal Rows No but she needs to get used to sleeping with noise in the background - like adults talking or the vacuum on. Otherwise she'll wake up really, really easily and be a very light sleeper.

    • @aleinatolerance4598
      @aleinatolerance4598 8 років тому

      I theoretically agree with you. However; I have 3 kids. The two first ones I did this with, and they slept trough anything. The 3rd was another story. Never slept a full night till he was a year and half. Even as newborn he slept 10 -20 min tops at a time. And no. Nothing was wrong with him :) But I assure you: If you have a really fuzzy kid, you WILL avoid all sounds in hopes for the baby to sleep just a little bit longer.
      And the ironic part is: I told one of my friends exactly what you said, when her kids were babies.My kids slept, hers didn't. Then I had my 3rd. I had to admit kids are SOOOO different.. (And I hope she'll stop teasing me about it someday ;) )

    cycling her arms and legs around

    crossing across the body

    Awesome job vlogging Kristin! The owl bag is used to hold diapers. I found it very helpful. I also recommend getting a second baby monitor. It will be helpful when you travel as well as at home...plus if you have a second baby you can use it then. Totally relate to the "sad face" when you have to put too small clothes away, gets worse when your last one outgrows them. Love the fact that you kept your mom's PE shorts. My mother-in-law kept my husbands tank shirts from when he was 10. My son wore them and my mother-in-law thought it was cool to see her grandson wearing his father's clothes. Kristen, you did an AMAZING job with the Vlog. As others have already told you, the Owl is a diaper holder. As to Chell producing all the poopy diapers, very good sign of an extremely healthy baby! She is doing so great (and using the disposable diapers for now is a great help) - my daughter did that at this age, eat and poop - she was a happy girl too!

  • @Krstyiynn

    Omg I love Kristen!!! Def more vids from her side! shes awesome!!! The owl bag is for diapers. 3 boys and we never used ours even once hahaha!!! As for the clothes Chell is outgrowing there are a few things you can do with them. 1 is of course pack them away for baby # 2 to come and hope for another girl oooooooooor you can take them to a second hand store that deals just in baby clothes and switch them out for things in her size. Most the clothes in those shops have near brand new designer labels and most items like your little Chell Burrito have only been worn once. You can also give back by giving her clothes to the base near you, or your community itself. Many young Mothers dont have much and giving back to others less fortunate is great food for the soul :). I love you guys so much. xoxo Love from Cali!

    for an awesome baby monitor app, try dormi, we use it constantly. u can setup an old phone, connect it to your wifi and then pair it with your main cell phone. you can listen to the baby when your out mowing the lawn or even when your at work. it works wonderful and my wife and i swear by it. just a tip, pay the 6 bucks and get the full version, plus it utilizes the camera and turns on when the baby cries!!!!

We leave white noise and music such as Baby Einstein and have our son sleep through it. Also get use to sleeping with light on. Now my son who is 2.5 is able to nap at Disneyland with no problem. It makes life a lot easier so you're not rushing home for nap times or else she won't have a good nap (all this when she's older)

      We aren't loud people either. I know where you're coming from. I was always quiet when my kids were asleep. Even disarming the doorbell, and removing the cordless phone holder that was on the top floor. The only thing I couldn't removed was the dog from barking at the door when people knocked......lol Still my kids are good sleepers. It's me, a light sleeper, who seems to have one ear open during the night in case one of them happens to be sick.

    I just want to say you are my favorite UA-cam family. I have never watched a vlog and wanted to agree on everything so much from being the only one who can't sleep, to the making sure your child is breathing, all the way to the hospital cup. You are such an awesome mom. The hanging owl is for diapers but I never liked ours. It seems to big for small diapers and to small for bigger diapers.

    Kristen's so pretty, just like Chell! and i have a nice nickname for Chell as well! "Chell Bell!". It reminds me of when my sister Shelby was called Shell Bell.

    That triangular thing, with an opening? It is supposed to hold diapers. Honestly, though? I mostly used it to hold dirty clothes. Since I always washed my babies clothes separately from the rest of the family (especially the itty bitty stages), it was easier to put my babies' dirty clothes in that and take that to the washer than to put them with everyone else's stuff. Plus, I was less likely to lose baby socks in with everyone else's clothes.

    Never ever tip toe around. You don't want a light sleeper. You want her to be able to sleep through noise. It'll help huge when you have company over or if you have a little get together or anything. My son sleeps through my vacuuming or playing music.

THERE HAVE BEEN A COUPLE VIDEOS WHERE KRISTIN HAS MADE A BRIEF APPEARANCE ON HER OWN AND I LIKED IT. AS MUCH AS A LIKE COREY FILMING, I AM HAPPY THAT KRISTIN MADE HER OWN TODAY. IT WAS AWESOME

      Kristen...I just realized my family has a lot in common with Cory. My daughter's paternal GGGPs and GGPs were Williams and her maternal GG GM was a Williams....I know it is weird! Right?

      My name is Max, and I love Minecraft, because you can do mostly anything. YOu can dig and build crafts. I like exploring like Cory. I want my GM to save some money to buy me a real metal detector so I can find treasures. One more thing, you can also play Minecraft story mode. There are 4 characters, Jesse, Petra, Lukas and Ivor. You get to make choices every time. I will make a video soon singing the theme song. Will you subscribe to my channel. When I grew up I want to be brave like Cory!. Bye

    Dude, I love you guys but maybe make like a DudelikeBaby or something separate. This is like when all your friends start posting pics of their kids on Facebook. but multiple minutes of it. either way, kudos Kristen, keep on rockin'! but I have quit watching all the baby videos. Again, no offense meant. It's just like baby over load.

      These comments are rude as heck. Just like FB you can unfollow people without saying a word. Life happened with these guys and they can't do much with a tiny baby.
      You must not have kids. Am I right?

    • @ParadoxdesignsOrg

      A Bundy Kind Of Life nope. thus why I don't understand the craze. I'm not trying to insult them in any way, I'm just saying I'm taking a break from watching even though I do love the content. It's not meant to be rude. I am simply expressing my opinion and I apologize if anyone thinks it was. ;)

      I don't think your comment was rude. You just stated your opinion and in a respectful manner. I disagree with it because I love seeing how evolved Cory is, but it doesn't make your opinion any less valid. :)

    My almost 2 year old has always been long and skinny. It took until he was 6 months old for the cloth diapers (I have Bum Genius) to start fitting him well enough. I still use disposables when we go out because they are just easier to deal with!
    Also, I know she's not old enough yet, but if you haven't looked at child carrying backpacks for hiking yet, I highly recommend the Osprey Poco Plus. We love ours!

    Loved this--you should do this again soon.
    Owl-thing--definitely a diaper holder. You probably know that now.
    And checking if they're breathing, etc--it's normal. And you never really stop doing it either. Later on, it's replaced with texting them to make sure they didn't wreck on their way to their friend's house. And after that, it's to make sure nobody broke into their house and is holding them hostage. :)
