I think I got your confusion. Ill try to explain, sorry for being long. Trigeminal sensory fibres can be considered two types (practically). One is the *fine touch and pressure* - (similar to dorsal column in the spinal cord) synapsing at the Chief sensory nucleus of Trigeminal (Pons). Fibres from there ascend in trigeminal lemniscus to opposite thalamus The second is *pain and temperature* - (similar to lateral spinothalamic) synpasing at Spinal nucleus (Medulla and even upper spinal cord - This can be involved in a lateral Medullary Syndrome) causing ipsilateral loss of pain and temperature in face). Fibres from here ascend in what is called the trigemino thalamic tract to opposite tha
