- Angel Witch "Angel Of Death", taken from the 1980 self titled album by nwobhm band Angel Witch
Angel of death
A faceless evil spirit that haunts
Searching for the soul that he must take
Steed of white he rides through the realms of unknown
He is only a messenger from hell
Scanning the oceans searching for victims to taunt
Looking for those who dare rise him from the grave
Angel of death
Angel of death
Angel of death
Angel of death
Riding along he cannot find those that he seeks
Yet he knows he is on the right trail
Breaking the circle, not knowing of the danger she's in
He takes her with him through stygian to hell
To hell
Scanning the oceans searching for victims to taunt
Looking for those who dare rise him from the grave
Angel of death
Angel of death
Angel of death
Angel of death
Suddenly I awake, looking 'round to see where I am
Realise it's been just a crazy dream
I open the door to find that he is waiting there
The angel of death has come to take my soul
My soul
Scanning the oceans searching for victims to taunt
Looking for those who dare rise him from the grave
Angel of death
Angel of death
Angel of death
Angel of death
Metal is like a shadow, it may no longer be mainstream but it will never go away either. As other music genres die, metal will still be alive.
What goes around comes around like flares coming back into fashion, music today is superficial and short lived, metal will come back with avengeance and have more truth in it than these guys. Lol
INFAMOUS! BUTCHEEEER!
ANGEL OF DEAAAAAAAAAAAA...
Oh wait, wrong song :P
Angel Witch > Slayer.
@@marcosfernandezmartinez5284 definitely
The riff in this song sounds like a song you'd hear in the final level of a video game.
Ein Walroß, Reminds me a bit of Bowser's Castle from Super Mario World lol
Ein Walroß This song gives me Hellsing Vibes for some reason.
Funny how people increasingly relate music to video games
My wife just bought me a Angel Witch shirt for my birthday. My wife rules.
Jeremy Campbell you lucky man.
Jeremy Campbell I'd say she's a keeper but you're already married
Yes she does
You listen to the entire record and you'll get this feeling again and again. Hey, I've heard this riff before. Goes to show how influential this band has been.
The opening riff sounds so Celtic Frost-ish. It was really ahead of its time!
Angel Witch is a pre-Celtic Frost in many ways, I think it's even more obvious on the 1978 demo (yes 1978!!!), the riffs in Baphomet, Flight 19 or Extermination Day had this distinct hypnotic feel that was to find on Celtic Frost, and then Darkthrone and Obituary who took over that kind of sound!
Thanks for saying that. 2 bands new to me here. This Angel Witch sounds ok, but the vocals are too weak for me. Manilla Road has a sick singer.
@@Vaginaattori check out angel witch frontal assault, and screamin and bleedin albums they have a stronger singer on those
Heaviest riff of 1980.
My first NWOBHM album...classic...we used to headbang to this till our necks hurt when we were 14
This gotta be the most underrated band in the history of heavy metal..!
Thin Lizzy has a song entitled Angel of Death, so does Slayer as well as Count Raven. Now I discover a fourth and I find you really cant go wrong with this title
Thin Lizzy and this one came out at the same year, tho
Hell yeah. I remember when this came out. Was actually very heavy stuff back then -- this, and Witchfinder General.
Gr8t stuff
The members of witchfynde general played my local pub last year, now malleus
I got the CD many years ago and haven't regretted the decision yet. Angel Witch was also one of the first bands I was introduced to by a British classmate of mine who had the album with 'Extermination Day' on it. He's gone now, {killed in a 1982 motorcycle accident) but that initial introduction to the NWOBHM has stayed with me to today. This stuff is STILL as good now as it ever was and always will be.
Cheers and Rest in Peace to him! Thats a good friend to share the legacy of metal with friends is the memories we all never forget in this stressed out Rat Race world.Keep rocking!
sorry for your buddy
Love this! Angle witch should be really more popular in the metal community.
Don't mix math and Metal
Surely one of the heaviest tracks in the early eighties.LUV IT!!!
For whom the bell tolls!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard it as well
excellent band!
the best NWOBHM band
1:13 to 1:20 sounds like the chorus of For Whom the Bell Tolls. In an early Metallica interview, when asked about influences Dave Mustaine blurts out, "Angel Witch!"
Dave wear Angel witch shirt when he's on Decibel mag cover in 2010. I still have that issue.
Needless to say how awesome this band is!
MASTERPIECE
DEFINED ALL THAT CAME AFTER
Why is everyone talking about Metallica on an Angel Witch video?!?!?!?!?!
Just enjoy Angel Witch!!!!

Them and Diamond Head bro cant forget Diamond Head!!!
Actually Angel Witch, Pagan Altar, Witchfynde etc started doom. Satan, Pariah, and Chateax etc started speed, which evolved into thrash. But I guess I'm just nit picking.
Oh and for Hunter411raven, without Venom, there would BE no Slayer.
Thanks for the lyrics! Greatest NWOBH band of all time! Am I crazy!
The music is so similar to the Dreams Of Eschaton by Manilla Road
+Lost Wisdom THANKS! I was frying my mind trying to remember which songs by Manilla Road that riff recalled me! !,,/_
You are welcome xD ^_^
+Lost Wisdom I would argue that it's the other way around. I thought that was recorded in 1983.
+Doom Domain I think at my comment i do not mention which song came first... I just said that they are similar
Lost Wisdom Ah, don't mind me then, I misinterpreted the post.
Ha! I'm glad I'm not the only one to notice. It's just such a kickass riff that it deserves to be heard in more kickass songs than just this one.
I just finished watching a Dave Mustaine interview and this group was one he mentioned that he used to listen to before he started his career! So I thought I’d check it out and I like the song! 👍🏻
My parents thought I had lost my mind when I brought this album in the 70s
Awsome tune I wish I payed more attention to these
Every time I hear that riff I always think of Manilla Road's "Dreams of Eschaton", which uses the same one.
The toning and riffs were really Heavy for that time period.
Monarch to the kingdom of the dead!!!!! Hahaha, Slayer \m/. But Angel Witch fucking rules!!
Thin Lizzy too...
Exodus hizo un cover de esta cancion esta en el álbum "Blood In, Blood Out" elexente versión y el original ni decirlo muy adelantado para esa época, muy buen tema! lml
Love this tune one of the best love me some good old thrash metal
I love this old school heavy metal rock on.
Your amazing randall
Thanks exodus!
Their cover of this song is AMAZING
Morbid Angel used to do this in Tampa when they were up and coming
this really good stuff :)
Really nice!!!
kevin heybourne is on the most underrated guitarists of all, but he kicks ass
This is quite powerful if im honest. i should have listened to this band earlier, because now i praise them ever so much:)
My favorite band...ever....!!!!
this is one of the songs that I like Angel Witch!
Reminds me so much of hit the lights.
both are great!:D
Wow, Angel Witch got the feel of hell down!!
the riff at 2.56 ,heavy as fook,in my top ten nwobhm albums, still have the original vinyl album
My fingers still bleed playing this tune!
Classic!!
great track from new wave of british heavy metal band angel witch so dark and bad ass. #nwobhmforever
i love their singer voice so much
c´mon, let´s comment about angel witch music. metallica and megadeth both are great iconic bands an both deserve respect.
Самая мощная песня с альбома!
Heavy Metaaaalll, Alllll riiiiiightyyyyyyyyyy
Damn they really were the original Megadeth.
lol, if megadeth was an old school heavy metal/power metal band.
skobywan kenobi shut up ,
l..l Awesome song l..l love song
Best track ever from Angel Witch, may be was the real first Black Metal song, just right before Venoms Welcome to Hell
Confused too
oh Mann bin ich froh daß Angel Witch auf dem Rockhard Festival spielen! Ausschließlich thrash metal wär auch kein Spaß. Und spaßig ist das hier;-)
ANGEL WITCH = SLAYER bloody roots in my opinion
For the year 1980, besides Diamond Head, you could'nt probably find metal songs/albums more ominous and extreme and de-attatched from hard rock/rock n' roll than this. Unless there is some secret gems from that specific year I don't know about...
i still have this on vynal
I'm with ya dude...
I'm fuckin' impressed...
This is definitely METAL, not soft rock (like stupid AIR SUPPLY)...
These lyrics and music are too cool to be soft rock...
I'm gonna try to download this album...
Angel of Death fullllll yeaaaahhhhhaaaa
stop commenting about other bands if you listen to this =P
just listen... and enjoy this nice song =D
I didn't know Angel Witch was slang for Metallica but these commenters have enlightened me
@Odinclanman what have you said about rush? O_O
Rush is lightyears ahead of Brutal Legends. End of discussion.
bruh this reminds me of the conjuring by megadeth
I believe that this came before hand.
About 6 years before
I'm not really arguing BUT...Venom was around a few years b4 Slayer..I can hear some Venom in Slayer for sure..But Slayer is my all time fav. metal band..and your point is understood
I think my mind just exploded, yep, it did.
¡Angel of Death!... \m/🤟🏼🤟🏼🤟🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
favorite from this FUCKING FANTASTIC ALBUM!!!!!
@IronJudasCrue41 i dunno man i would say the first 5 albums an the garage album they do sum sik covers on that
@MRec1124 A lot of these kinds of 80's bands are.
you are fucking right man...it seems(on this part) with "for whom.....tolls....its amazing!
Kick ass song.
Probably my favorite song with the title "Angel Of Death". Even better than Slayer.
thats true!!!!
It's strange that Slayer did a song with the same exact title...not strange that this song is light years away from Slayer's in terms of awesomeness and greatness.
Thin Lizzy got also an Angel of Death song, same year of this
Well, I'm not gonna argue with someone who was fortunate enough to be there
Oh well
@IronZeppelin93 Yup Dave Mustaine and Cliff Burton.
I would say both are awesome in different ways. Neither is better then the other though.
Lucky!
They are approved by Dave Murray from Iron Maiden
as well as the dudes from Exodus
@TOSportsFan1990 Agreed
So agree, I really only care about slayer first album, but even then I could live with out. So much better underground metal.
My mine complaint about the black album is the song "The God that Failed." Mainly because Metallica stole the main rift from "Dawn Patrol" a Megadeth song that was recorded two years prior. Infact, you can meld the songs together.
Well i would have to disagree, SLayers Angel of Death is one of my favourite songs, but this band is definitely great.
Metal is like a zombie, or that guy Jesus...
IT WILL NEVER DIE!
Whats up with all the non lovers? This band rocks hard and i love em! Live and let live all you haters out there! LIVE AND LET LIVE!
nice classic here, i like this alot better then the slayer version but then again after the first two slayer albums thats where i stop.
Long live Kevin Heybourne!!!!
Really excited to hear exodus cover this on their new album
just heard it, it's killer
GrobmotorikJones yep, the new exodus album is killer
Yeah, Tom Hunting did a great job hahah. It's fucking awesome!
Light years AHEAD!
But I'm sure that's what you meant.
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
how can you even compare those two? one is a game and the other is a band.
For whom the bell tolls
dude, I came here to say that. I hear that shit too lmao
NWOBHM rocks!!! But u already knew that!!!
Monarch of the kindom of the deeeeeeeeeeeeath!
@pwnedbygreenelfs yea but for me metallica every time metallica released an album it raised the bar on how good thrash could be... up until black album that is.
