People always complain about jotaro "not having a character arch" and "being to mean at the start" but the whole point is that he's an edgy teen acting out and his arch is him slowly opening up as the audience sees that his not some pointlessly violent teen but a caring man willing to fight for those he loves even if it means being seen as the badguy. Also, I 100% agree with the part 1 ending thing, every other part ends with the mc fighting the villain when someone gets a power up and the mc wins
I absolutely love your point about Giorno. Good writing doesn’t necessitate a character undergoing a change, and it’s kinda weird that people think that characters have to undergo through some sort of profound reevaluation of life to make the writing good.
It's what a lot of people are used to. There's 3 types of character arcs the main character goes through. 1. The positive arc: The protagonist starts out at a low point and changes over the course of the story to become stronger, better and more heroic. (Luke Skywalker) 2. The negative arc: The protagonist either starts at a high point or a low point and progresses through their story until ultimately either becoming the villain or losing everything tragically. (Anakin Skywalker) 3. The flat arc: The protagonist is already developed and start out at a specific point in life that they need to be at. The character doesn't change at all through the story and, instead, changes the world around them with their actions. (This is a very uncommon arc in writing, so I don't have a good example.) They are meant to be the answer to a problem and they combat with the issue until the world is made better.
It's like Goku. Goku, in the several decades of Dragonball/Z, has changed VERY little as a character, if at all. But there's a reason why he's still one of the most iconic characters (and not just in anime/manga) of all time: people just like really like Goku. Giorno is like that for me. He's just a cool character that has some of the most badass moments in the entire franchise and he's also probably the most ruthless Jojo. And I do love how his connection to Dio makes him stand out from the more noble and outwardly heroic nature of the other Jojos.
@@evanlee6644Goku change but his changes are very minor compared to other characters in the series. He doesn't have a big life defining moment like Vegeta or Gohan. If you compare DBZ Goku to Kid Goku from OG Dragon Ball you can see some subtle changes but his core is still the same.
Phantom Blood was much better paced in the manga, similar to Stardust Crusaders. The Tarkus and Bruford section felt slow and boring in the anime, but I found it way more enjoyable in the manga since the pacing was consistent with the rest of the story, unlike the anime which had a faster pacing in the beginning due to skipping a lot of scenes early on which ended up making the middle feel slower than it actually is.
You're right this is something I forgot to mention in the video. I remember reading the manga for Phantom Blood and it was so much better than the anime. Crazy how their pacing felt like it left so much out but was so much longer.
Agreed, I was rereading The World arc in Crusaders recently and the fight seems to flow a lot better than it did in the anime. Anime was still good just felt kind of poorly paced
Jodio doesn't have to be a direct copy of giorno Johnny is nearly the opposite of jonathan Joseph and fumi aren't similar Josuke and gappy are vastly different as well
It's more themes that are used to allude to the characters but yes they really aren't exactly the same and that is what makes them good. It's more a "What if x character had completely different morals in that regard?" situation.
1:17- like the inversion- DIO who had to work hard to get where he is and Jonathan who had everything handed to him- reverse once DIO becomes a vampire- with the former becoming increasingly inactive and reliant on others to do his bidding unless he literally has no other choice while Jonathan trains and continues to refine his technique until the day he literally dies.
Phantom blood gets too much hate. While it lacks the insanity of later parts, the storytelling is excellent. Yes, it's formulaic, but in the best sort of way. It tells the classic hero's journey in a rather satisfying way. I often hear complaints that Jonathan and Dio are too one-dimensionally good and evil, but that's kind of the point. They're supposed to be the root of all good and evil in the following parts, giving them an almost godlike quality. Phantom Blood is pretty clearly a prequel for the story that Araki wanted to tell, whatever that was at the time. It definitely succeeds in this goal. We understand who the Joestars are and what Dio and the Stone mask are setting up. The story ultimately chose to pivot away from vampires and hamon, but Jonathan and Dio's legacy is felt well after this. The other big complaint I hear is that the arc is too short. Once again, this works to its benefit. Without stands to shake things up, it's best to just keep the story moving.
I like Part 2 a lot but one of my main criticisms is that it feels none of the characters are allowed to accomplish anything except Joseph. Like Caesar's fight with Wamuu is cool and everything but he doesn't serve much of a purpose in the story otherwise except to motivate Joseph. Lisa Lisa is hyped up to be this powerful Hamon master, but all she gets to do is kill one vampire and then is cheated out of a fight that she probably could have won. She doesn't even get to do anything as Joseph and Caesar's master aside from kicking them in a hole and then having two nothing characters train them in a training arc that they literally skip over.
36:20 I believe Jodio is supposed to be a reimagining of Giorno. Despite his actions, thought process, and overall methods of pursuing his goal are significantly different compared to part 5 Giorno ; I'm completely convinced its a reimagining of Giorno. Not only that but Araki seems to have developed a strong pattern of having original continuity characters getting re-imagined as heroes/allies like Kira and Josuke from part 8. Despite Kira being part 3 villain, his story in part 8 parallels to him adopting a new identity as well as having to adapt to a new way of life with an entirely new family.
@@geschnitztekiste4111 yea i know but we already had Joseph, Jolyne and Johnny form US, now Jodio too, i would have loved some refernce to part 5, in italy, or every other place aside from usa and japan
Golden Wind is a great part but it's not my favorite part. Giorno is a man on a mission so we don't necessarily see him when he's not hyperfixated on his goal. I don't like part 5 because it's just not my cup of tea but I still respect it.
What a great video. I really appreciate explaining each part’s ups and downs rather than just complaining about part 6 for the sake of it. Also the city pop during the last 2 parts caught me off guard, I love it
The deaths in jojolion are hilarious because we'd often have to wait a whole month, sometimes more, just to see if the character is actually dead or if they did that jojo thing of shrugging off a bullet to the head like it's nothing
It’s so strange too, at the time of reading it as it was coming out and then going back to read it, it felt so off seeing these characters just die. This is mainly coupled with the fact that I felt the pacing in the last few arcs were severely off reading it concurrently to the point where I didn’t even realise we were in the final fight until Wonder of U was defeated. The points mentioned in the video are completely right but also adding in that most of them just… happen?
Great video here. I’m also a big fan of 6 and 8 and am excited for where part 9 ends up. This video reminded me of my experience reading Part 8 and how much it feels like a breath of fresh air in art direction, Stand design, and character development. Josuke is one of my favorite JoJos and his quest for self-identity is really fantastic. Here’s to hoping we get an animated part for it so more people can enjoy it along with us.
oh thank lord someone actually understands giorno finally. I could also talk about the symbolism giorno has. yes it is under developed but it's stil exists and is something I enjoy and fugo as well!! he is my favourite character (although some of that does come from phf) and I also so agree about the requiem quietly plays no one ever seems to talk about that jojolion really does need to be read more it's underrated. my second favourite part also I don't know why but jodio makes me think of a mix of giorno, Jolyne and fugo to me 😭
What an amazing video. I hope you continue to upload more about Jojo as a whole, it would be amazing seeing a video about you going in more depth of part 7 and 8 and about part 9 as it comes out. Love the video, definitely subscribing
I actually really like the high voltage chapters. Idk, while it's kinda weird because it happens after the actual climax of the part, i think it's similar to the rolling stone chapters. It fits as more of an epilogue to the whole story. It also closes off a lot of things that would have been left unfinished if these chapters didn't exist. Spoilers: Lucy's relsove to finally be able to defend for herself, Diego's and Johnny's rivalry having a finality, finishing the whole race and Johnny's dad appearing and giving closure to Johnny. Of course, the last two things could have been made without Diego but the first two wouldn't be possible. Not to mention, i think that last fight is probably my favorite out all of Jojo's, so i wouldn't take it away by any means. (But for context, what i like about the fight is that is the only one where you actually feel like it's a fight against someone that can't stop time. For much as I love Dio vs Jotaro, it's a fight with very different mechanics when you realize both can move in stopped time. And while watching part 5, i was with hope that they would defeat diavolo with a clever way considering his abilities of erasing time but i was really disappointed that it was mostly a macguffing race to a win. As for part 6 final fight, it doesnt really feel like a fight, appropriate being, a complete victory by Pucci. So yeah, i think Johnny's vs Diego is the first time stop vs not time stop fight that is actually quite even and it's really fun.)
Johnny vs Diego feels like a secret boss fight to me IMO. It's just really fun seeing Johnny fight tooth and nail to take out Valentine, and then suddenly have to face a previous foe with a stand we already know is extremely powerful. Johnny being able to let loose and show off his ultimate ability for the entire final arc instead of it being limited to a couple uses during the final fight like Gappy or Giorno is also a treat.
"a complete victory by Pucci" I get what you mean considering the part of the fight that took place before the reset, but at the end he was literally begging for his life to Emporio and his "heaven" universe got reset into a new universe where all of the people that he killed are now back and fate is unknown, undoing his plan
@@ovensmuggler5207 well yeah, Weather Report completely destroys him at the end, and is also pretty cool too, as this is one of the only ways to realistically beat a speedster. Trick him into going to closed room and beat them with some sort of invisible gas. But is not much of a fight, but i don't have the actual definition of a fight right now so I guess you could consider it a fight. I do really like that ending but, idk, something about Diego vs Johnny hits different for me.
Yeah idk why people view it as a takes on final boss when it’s more of an epilogue that gives satisfying closure to the part unlike every other part in which the part ends almost immediately after the villain gets defeated
Honestly, I love watching these kinds of videos. Part 5 and 6 are definitely one of my tops. They of course have floors and everything but I did heard something from I am pretty sure a different video that said Giorno has the mind of Dio but the heart of Jonathan(As he is both their sons, technically). Jodio gives me more the vibe of more of Dio than Jonathan(So the opposite of Giorno, of course having his differences). I am not sure if others can see that, it's just a theory though. I am as well very excited to see where the new part will go.
While the anime sometimes suffers from pacing issues in some parts (namely part 3 and 1), its greatest strength is that it makes stands abilities way easier to understand and visualise. Like, King Crimson was one of the most confusing stands in the whole series for years until the anime made it relatively easy to understand his powers because you could actually see it. A lot of stands in part 6 suffered similar problems but imo the anime made them easier to understand
King Crimson is a funky case because it relies on skipping time in a medium that fundamentally skips time between every panel so it's really hard to convey. On the flip side, it was likely inspired by this fact if I had to guess, so it was kind of stuck with this problem for ages
I read the manga after finishing stone ocean on Netflix, and man oh man I’ve never had so much fun reading manga than when I started reading sbr and jjl. Easily head n shoulders above the rest, that’s not to say the other parts are bad but my enjoyment when reading sbr and jjl were at an all time high.
I remember when i was in fifth grade i told my teacher that there was only 1 jojo and his name was jotaro and i only knew about part 3 its def the most iconic out of them all.
I like how you added that bit on Made In Heaven, GER, and Notorious B.I.G so that people wouldn’t take the comment the wrong way lol. I think what you forgot to mention was that Foo Fighters wasn’t actually shown in the end credits of the manga which ended up being adjusted in the anime. Well rounded analysis overall. I avoided the rest of the video to avoid spoilers tho. The only gripe I had with the heaven storyline was the lack of information regarding how DIO came up with the plan in the first place. Considering how well it was executed tho, I can dismiss it. I’d still like to know tho haha.
You should check out Jojo Over Heaven (there’s an audio dub on youtube) It’s not written by Araki but it gives great characterization to Dio as he writes his thoughts during part 3 and comes up with the heaven plan while philosophizing on what heaven really is. It’s in the same position as Purple Haze Feedback where it’s not true canon but doesn’t contradict canon either and the way Dio is portrayed really does feel like part 3/6 Dio, it’s great
Absolutely agree on your point about Giorno, The main character doesn't need to develop over a series and completely shift or anything like that, he's consistent and his resolve only gets stronger. Fuck it, since I'm still going, agree on Jolyne being a favorite, she's honestly my number one favorite. Of the main universe anyways. She goes fucking hard, doesn't take shit, and is super super creative and adaptable during fights. Her and Johnny are battling it out for top spot.
EDIT: I don't get why you say you're not gonna do spoilers then play spoilers in the background the entire time And you're right, high voltage was out of nowhere and not needed. And it was fucking amazing for it, I screamed the first time I read it
This was such a good video! Your opinions are pretty much identical to mine lmao. Despite the fact that King Crimson is easily my favorite stand and not Soft and Wet. Though it probably within my top 5.
I also had some issues with JoJolion, very similar to yours, I guess, but I like the way Toruu was done. I like that we were on a long, mysterious journey and only in the last third we finally get to see who's behind everything, but at the same, once you realize his power, you now wish they could get away from its power (I know that's more of a testament to WoU than Toruu, but I liked him being a polar opposite to Jousuke and the way they forshadowed his true nature).
Tooru is became one of my favorite villian super quickly Especially his super terrifying stand If he had more time I bet he could've become an even better villian He didn't have much time to shine But that time was used in a great way In my opinion he is good enougj to be a peak character Just like every single villian in this beautiful series
i’ve been watching this video for the past 5 months. not because i’m rewatching it, it’s because whenever i watch/read a new jojo part i always like going back to this video.
14:17 Part 4 feeling directionless at the start is the point, its just a small town almost slice of life story so we get introduced to all these characters. When Kira is introduced its a threat to that small town feel so we have a reason to feel like we are part of the town.
I'm a strong believer that people dislike part 6 because part 7 was referred to as "the best". Not that it doesn't deserve the title, it does, but having one part being like any other part and then suddenly having the peak of Jojo's right after it made people long for that sweet horse racing, i guess.
Fact. The majority of people reading Part 6 just want to get it over with so they can get to Part 7 which is widely (and correctly) considered to be peak Jojo. It also doesn't help that a bunch of incels love to hate it cause they stand having a predominantly female cast (technically Jojolions cast is also predominantly female but Jojolion underutilizes almost every female character in it).
good video! i feel like we share a lot of similar opinions on the series obviously not everything but this was a great watch. another theory i feel may he likely for the japanese man coming to hawaii is joshu because of his greed and the fact the diamond is super expensive, but still josuke is far more likely
Great analysis but honestly I beleieve that part 3 is underated even though it has its tiny imperfections that’s what makes jojo well jojo. Since every part in jojo does something well that makes us more attached to the series. I get that part 3 is seen as generic and boring compared to other parts but I love part 3 because of the awesome/funny fights. And I get people hate jotaro for being too much of a brickwall but he really isn't. Overall I think Part 3 deserves more love. But overall I believe every jojo part is great in their own way as no matter what part u like were all jojo fans at the end of the day and we all love the series
I don’t agree with ur High Voltage opinion. Usually other parts would end with the main villain being defeated and then the part quickly ends afterwards. Meanwhile, in part 7 we still have another fight and it kinda helps to give more closure to the part and it’s also the only part where the “deus ex machina” stand (Tusk act 4) actually gets defeated.I think having those extra chapters after the Valentine fight just make the part so much more complete imo than if it were to just simply end with Johnny beating the race after defeating Valentine. Johnnys dad comes back with the milk, a great Lucy W and some terrifying moments with Tusk Act 4. The fight itself is really fun and fast paced and one of the best in the series and features the most creative uses of time stop. Its one of my favourite arcs in the series and I feel it’s less of a final boss, but more of an epilogue to SBR. Also Za Warudo obviously.
Jodio is definitely a universal equivalent of girno though is NOT girno himself, I'm pretty sure the cats are a universal equivalent to notorious chase and I kinda feel like Kars will be an antagonist considering the gem seems simular to the one from part 2
Joseph's "your next line will be" shows how well he is reading his opponent. It's why the fight with, I forget his name, on the spikes where he is the one being read feels so intense. Part 2 is my favorite part but I feel like golden wind is peak Jojo. Great fights, great use of stands, and it's over the top such as when giorno and bucciarati first meet with the "this is the taste of a liar" Plus you don't need much information from the previous parts to watch it. Showing one of my friends chunks of part 5 is what convinced some of them to give the series a go. As for the hate it gets, I never really understood it. Giorno wasn't really our main character, bucciarati was. The entire story revolves around bucciarati with him and giorno wanting to overthrow the mafia. It's like Vaan and ff12 where he is our point of view in the story but the story isn't about him. The character growth is with the group as a whole. Collecting Trish, accepting giorno into the group, and eventually trusting him to the point that he becomes the new leader.
I think the problem with part 3 characters is that Araki uses this technique were he makes this spreadsheet and comes up with a lot of background information for the characters that will make up their personality. So in part 3 you can tell all the characters have their own personality and likes but it is not shown enough while in he other parts you get glimpses of these things. Like with kakyoin we get the scene from his childhood that he didn't have friends and all but that only stayed in the flashback and didn't really translate to his personality, he comes off as cool and charismatic and a bit more sensible than Jotaro. With avdol you can tell that he's intelligent and kind but that's about it. The only characters where this personality building shines through is Joseph because we already know him and Polnareff because he's supposed to be weird and funny. the next parts the personality is a bit more developed even if Araki doesn't explicitly show every detail, so he got better at show not tell.
If you noticed the arrow goes inside Kira and the requiem arrow went inside Golden Experience so probably if you have a stand and got stabbed by an arrow, you get an new addition to your power and if your stand gets stabbed it evolves
Looking at it now part 3s fights are longer than the other parts BUT what differentiates the jojo anime to a lot of anime’s is that the fights in general aren’t dragged on as LONG as fights from something like Naruto
If you notice, Kira obtains Bites the Dust by getting stabbed by the arrow. The USER was stabbed, not the stand. Requiem required Gold Experience to be pierced itself, not Giorno.
OMGG HI sorry for the incoming yap festival but as a vento aureo and stone ocean defender since day 1, THANK YOU!!!! i agree with you wholeheartedly!!! for vento aureo, people not liking giorno is pretty understandable (i don't think calm/serious mc is popular amongst jojo fans) but it doesn't mean that the story itself is bad. the whole plot of part 5 is so solid! as you said, no arc feels like a filler and the plot progresses in a very natural way. and for stone ocean, i understand not liking some of the fights (or even the ending tbh) but i've seen way too many people disliking jolyne which is crazy considering how she has one of the best character development alongside johnny just like the way you described her transforming from a whiny, apathetic girl, to someone who's absolutely selfless and brave. well, maybe for jolyne i'm biased bc she's literally my favorite jojo (and even my favorite animanga character) of all time lol. again, sorry for the long yap but i just wanna say i absolutely love your commentary!
I love JoJo's and you made a hell of video on it to me, plus I like your take on Giorno as a character and protag, but I'm subscribed for sure love to see JoJo greatness being talked about
Hierophant green has more utility and uses than most stands in part 3. That, and comparing him to Caeser feels strange. Kakyoin is kind, and has limited experience with other people so can come across as pretty strange. I think you undersold him tbh. When it comes to Iggy, I think the idea of him is that he’s dragged along against his will and doesn’t even want to take part in any conflict. It’s not his battle, and he’s only willing to see it through when he’s accosted by Pet Shop. Edit: Kira’s speech isn’t a reference to American psycho, at least not the film version. The manga came out years earlier, and the book didn’t begin with Patrick bateman’s speech
"Part 5 is generally regarded as the most disliked part of the western fan base." I honestly find that surprising seeing as how brutal and fast paced the story is.
@@nok4799 Oh no, the character isn't joking every 5 minutes. In objective writing stand point he is best written from 1-5, but sad truth that JoJo fans can’t understand protagonists unless their development is force fed to them. Well, actually, what else to expect from a fan base that itself spread rot on the series before Hamon Beat on the fingers began to explain the obvious things. The funny thing is that all UA-camrs who analyze JoJo adore Giorno. Oceaniz, Kaleb I.A., Meti『Not The Bad Guy』and others.
@@zaconmacon565 it's because joseph is far more entertaining than part 3 jotaro and giorno. Bruno is serious character but he's beloved because he was also mad interesting.
I think part 8's beetle fight was so fun and amazing. For me, it was such a cool way to freshen up what a fight is. And now that more part 9 chapters are out, i love the style of it. And i think the stands are so well made for a heist story it seems to be going in
Tbh I really like Red Hot Chili Peppers and it’s final fight, the design is okay, but the ability is super strong and the user was smart enough to plan out the fight and use the environment to his advantage, and although dangerous for it, it can use ALL the electricity from a power main line, which is absurdly strong
I have prox 5 episodes of part 5 left and so far I can with confidence say that Part 5 is my favourite, then part 3, then part 2, then part 4 and part 1 at last. (I love every part tho)
I started reading the manga from part 1 to current once I finished golden wind, which at the time was the most recent anime adaptation. I expected to not like part 6 from everything I heard online regarding the part. Despite that, It actually ended up being my favorite part. I do think it's flawed and it can get boring in the middle but it reaches the highest highs in the series for me. Part 7 is my second favorite part but I feel the other way around. It's just consistently excellent. However, imo it never reached the same highs for me as part 6.
Great video really underrated! Hard disagree on high voltage though that is like the perfect ending. Although yeah it’s pretty fan service-y as long as fan service is not too excessive I don’t think its too bad. It is just in general such an exciting fight and it gives a conclusion to the actual sbr race as well as seeing Lucy stop Diego is great to see after she got treated so badly the whole part.
High voltage felt like "ooh let's recreate some Dios world scenes" but world of stars and stripes was a great send off (even though valentines death was very satisfying and could have been the last fight) Edit: for the record i like au Diego and the fanservice, but it kinda felt weird after the most satisfying end of a main jojo villain (even better than DIO)
Jodio is definitely giorno. 1. Because his name is literally Jodio, he has Dio in his name. 2. Because the setting is very similar to part 5 and Jodio is also working with an organisation similar to a mafia. Yeah he doesn't really act like Giorno but maybe Araki decided to change his counterparts personality. Giorno's personality was kind of boring to me anyways so I don't mind at all.
I love tooru but I do agree that he could have been introduced a bit earlier or had some teases. I feel like the anime could fix this perfectly tho mainly with making tooru the one to give yasuho the hair clip rock insect. Shows more scenes of tooru constantly messing with yasuhos life
if you wanna know how killer queen evolved into kq:btd its because kira himself got stabbed and not his stand if it was a requiem then killer queen would be stabbed and not kira just clearin stuff out for you
Part 3 would be so much better if like 5-10 fights were removed and the part was more streamlined. Like the dark blue moon fight, Sun fight, yellow temperance, Alessi, High pritess, wheel of fortune and the darby younger fights are boring to me and while they have some fun moments sprinkled throughout its not enough to be fully entertaining for a good 1/2 episodes. Another issue is that some of these fights have bad endings where jotaro randomly shows up and gets the final beatdown despite not being present at ALL during the fight (The justice and Alessi fights especially suffer because of this) and it makes everything that happened beforehand feel pointless. One last thing is that there should’ve been slightly less Jotaro /polnareff fight, they hog so many fights that Abdul, Joseph and kakyoin dont get any time to shine besides in a couple of fights.
Let me clarify: Tooru isn't a bad villain. He's just the weakest in the series to me and in jojo, a series with such great villains, that's still high praise. I'll admit that maybe I just don't understand part 8 but Tooru just felt kind of directionless and I didn't like the fact that he affected Yasuho and Rai's life but not Josuke. Would've preferred for him to maybe be the cause of Kira and Josefumi dying or something. Also I just would've preferred for him to be introduced earlier, I like the kind of twist villain approach Araki took but he kind of abandoned it. Regardless I can see why you like Tooru, I do too.
@@coolnuggetI definitely think Tooru needed more time in the oven. He appears from nowhere and doesn’t really get a lot of time to shine. Wonder of U is interesting (I love it’s designs and powers) but it’s whole arc contains some of the best but also worst of JoJo as a whole. Recently I was looking into Tooru thematically though and I find him far more interesting now. As a rock human he was by far the most alien one we had seen, motivated by greed Tooru isolated himself and used everyone around him for his own gain. Despite living for so long, Tooru was truly alone. This is completely juxtaposed by Gappy who despite only being in this world for such a short amount of time, and for most of that time is trying to find himself, he is surrounded by friends and family who genuinely care for him. Gappy has people to back him up and help him out while Tooru’s stand and personality make him more alone than anyone. If anyone tries to get genuinely close to him he will cause a calamity to occur. In his last moments he reaches out to Yashuo for help, in desperation he still believes he can get by using other people and yet he sees the hornet, a sign of his innocence and childhood and succumbs to the fate he so desperately tried to manipulate. Tooru is really interesting looking at him like this (and god Wonder of U is just one of my favorite stands), I just wish he got more time to bake in the oven and show himself off because god he’s a strange antagonist in a series where the antagonists tend to be one of the most memorable parts about it (I mean just look at Valentine before him).
My favourite fight in the whole series is Johnny VS Axl RO. Civil War is such an interesting stand and Johnny having to overcome his past to defeat him is incredible, not to mention the aeakeninf of Tusk Act 3.
to answer your question in 15:27 , if the stand arrow is pierced to a stand , it becomes a requiem ....but if a stand arrow is pierced to the stand user , then a new ability like bites the dust is obtained.
As an australian, golden wind wasnt on netflix when i watched it, and it still wont be until this october i think, so i watched the first batch of stone ocean before even realising it existed because of how disconnected it is.
I wish the japanese man was Joshu. Seeing older Joshu as the head of the family would be cool/funny. I also really love Nut King Call and would like to see it more
I never understood the hate on golden wind, ist my favorite part by far and i wouldnt change anything. The openings are great the Stands are creative and fun, the side characters are interesting.
Joseph is probably my least favorite Jojo I just don't get how everyone puts him in such high regard. Him outliving Jotaro and Jolyne doesn't help either but at the same time it does make me kinda sad seeing him shriveling away, maybe Straizo had a point because ironically what happend to Joseph was Straizo's biggest fear.
Honestly as someone who loves part 6, your take is kinda correct. I like it cause I feel it was the ending, it was the one that tied up things. Although I liked dragons dream, tbh. I thought it wasn't amazing but compared to other arcs (*cough superfly*) it was decently lengthed to not stay out it's welcome. Although I feel the criticism of Anasui not doing the frog thing ealier is a bit void, since he simple might've just not come up with it yet. (Like, it's like complaining about the mobius strip with Jolyne, since she could've done that from the start)
God it feels good hearing someone who understands Giorno is an actually really good character. I'm so tired of hearing that he's "boring" and "bland" when he's so deep and interesting
I really liked High Voltage, it was so random but so tense. My only issue with it was that I didn't like how the race ended up, I wish we got to see more of the racers as characters and wanted to see a little more of Pocoloco
I would say part 8 jojolion is and part 7 is by far the peak of araki right now as it strive for the main core of what jjba is. The celebration of humanity to be able to fight against the current of faith with nothing but the indomitable human spirit. Not that the previous part didnt do that as we saw each jojo fought from just an unbeatable living creature to concept like time. Here we saw 2 adjacent part fighting respectively miracles and calamity with part 8 not just the jojo and his gang fighting it but the entire higashikata family battling against the world to break a curse preceeded from the past to battling against a concept of calamity itself. The thing that battle calamity is something that does not exist come from an entity that should not be on his world in the first place as if Gappy is a force, entering the Higashikata family to finally reward them for their struggles and something about it is just perfect to me. Sure the villian has the depth of a kiddie pool but i feel like it is more or less to pull our attention to the core value of what jjba is more.
Great to see some appreciation for part 6. It was clear to me when reading it that part 6 haters were all just hopping on the bandwagon with their opinion somebody else picked out for them. (Not to say everyone who dislikes it is invalid, everyone has their own tastes when it comes to jojo parts, but calling it the worst just doesn’t make any sense)

Yeah I definitely agree on the part 3 artstyle just feeling kind of off at times. Especially during the Dio fight where Dio just always looks incredibly strange. Like he just doesn't really look like he does in the manga.

Also, I 100% agree with the part 1 ending thing, every other part ends with the mc fighting the villain when someone gets a power up and the mc wins
i mean if i had a weird ghost following me beating people up way too much i'd be a bit edgy too
I absolutely love your point about Giorno.
(Luke Skywalker)
2. The negative arc: The protagonist either starts at a high point or a low point and progresses through their story until ultimately either becoming the villain or losing everything tragically. (Anakin Skywalker)
@@SymbiSpidey Goku has had changed though, I'm tired of people referencing Totally Not Marky's video because his opinion was waaay off base
Also part 5 is way shorter than any other part so it makes sense giorno will have the little to no change throughout it
Phantom Blood was much better paced in the manga, similar to Stardust Crusaders.
Yeah, David productions did not know how to manage the pacing at the beginning very well, but in my opinion they reached perfection in part4
Imo the OVA nails it a better even tho it became lost media since it was awful
Also it doesn't help that the combat in pt 1 didnt really translate well from the manga.
Jodio doesn't have to be a direct copy of giorno
Johnny is nearly the opposite of jonathan
Joseph and fumi aren't similar
Josuke and gappy are vastly different as well
It's more themes that are used to allude to the characters but yes they really aren't exactly the same and that is what makes them good. It's more a "What if x character had completely different morals in that regard?" situation.

Rohan being the Japanese man was the funniest thing Araki has ever done.

I'm pretty sure Araki hates Josuke too TBH 😂
1:17- like the inversion- DIO who had to work hard to get where he is and Jonathan who had everything handed to him- reverse once DIO becomes a vampire- with the former becoming increasingly inactive and reliant on others to do his bidding unless he literally has no other choice while Jonathan trains and continues to refine his technique until the day he literally dies.
I never even thought about that. oh my god.
In my opinion I just felt like most of the stands in stone ocean except the main cast were just situational but the made in heaven fight was just gold
How are planet waves ,Jumping jack flash , G3oh ,c-moon ,white snake ,limp biskit ,sky high ,jailhouse lock ,Dragons dream or Yo-yo ma situational?

You forgot all the stuff Stroheim managed to do.
It's why he's the best Jobro of Part 2.
@@elijahbagaman276 honestly, speedwagon and stroheim is basically a bad written character but a really great comic relief lmao
Not to mention him likely being a descendant of Dio, like Giorno is, judging by his character and namesake (joDIO)

Man, I didn’t even know. It’s easily my second favorite after PT. 4. It’s definitely the best written I’ve read so far.
Golden Wind is a great part but it's not my favorite part. Giorno is a man on a mission so we don't necessarily see him when he's not hyperfixated on his goal. I don't like part 5 because it's just not my cup of tea but I still respect it.
Terrible protag, villain, and final encounter, but the rest isn't bad.
Mostly a holdover from before the anime, golden wind has attack on titan syndrome

What a great video. I really appreciate explaining each part’s ups and downs rather than just complaining about part 6 for the sake of it.
Also the city pop during the last 2 parts caught me off guard, I love it
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it!!

Thanks, and those videos are in the works!!!
Spoilers:
Lucy's relsove to finally be able to defend for herself, Diego's and Johnny's rivalry having a finality, finishing the whole race and Johnny's dad appearing and giving closure to Johnny.

I do really like that ending but, idk, something about Diego vs Johnny hits different for me.
@@santiagovidelaleiva well it's cool so it makes sense
Yeah I totally agree
I don't know why, but the anime made me actually love fights that I didn't care for in the manga in part 6
For sure, araki's actual writing was seriously just on another level on SBR especially, imo no prior part comes close as an actual story.
I remember when i was in fifth grade i told my teacher that there was only 1 jojo and his name was jotaro and i only knew about part 3 its def the most iconic out of them all.
Love your channel! This deserves more views like right now
Thank you!!

You disrespected beautiful DIO
It’s in the same position as Purple Haze Feedback where it’s not true canon but doesn’t contradict canon either and the way Dio is portrayed really does feel like part 3/6 Dio, it’s great
Gosh damn your part 5 take is so perfect!! Thank you for this video!
man you’re making me want to read part 7 again
Absolutely agree on your point about Giorno, The main character doesn't need to develop over a series and completely shift or anything like that, he's consistent and his resolve only gets stronger.
Fuck it, since I'm still going, agree on Jolyne being a favorite, she's honestly my number one favorite. Of the main universe anyways. She goes fucking hard, doesn't take shit, and is super super creative and adaptable during fights. Her and Johnny are battling it out for top spot.

And you're right, high voltage was out of nowhere and not needed. And it was fucking amazing for it, I screamed the first time I read it
Why Joskue couldn’t just be a cousin of Jotaro born from a sibling of Joseph’s is beyond me
That'd mess up part 4 as Jotaro only came to Morioh for Josuke and to explain things. Later he finds out about Kira and that's his reason.
It'd mess with part two because George Joestar II and Lisa Lisa never had a second kid because George died to that one vampire politician guy
@@vickynelson100 Jotaro also came to hunt the stand users present on Morioh Town. So the story would still happen normaly.

Tooru is became one of my favorite villian super quickly
Especially his super terrifying stand
If he had more time
I bet he could've become an even better villian
He didn't have much time to shine
But that time was used in a great way
In my opinion he is good enougj to be a peak character
Just like every single villian in this beautiful series
i’ve been watching this video for the past 5 months. not because i’m rewatching it, it’s because whenever i watch/read a new jojo part i always like going back to this video.
14:17 Part 4 feeling directionless at the start is the point, its just a small town almost slice of life story so we get introduced to all these characters. When Kira is introduced its a threat to that small town feel so we have a reason to feel like we are part of the town.
We can't forget the BEST QUOTE in Part 7, no, in ALL of JoJo...

Best kill in the series is Rohan using the ghost alley to kill the stand stick to his back ….my fave 😁
Diego the world is still the best character
30:25 the people who consider Valentine a hero should not be trusted on whether or not nationalism is justifiable
9:48 rare hamon beat jumpscare when someone within a 6000 kilometer radius of him says araki forgot something
I wouldn’t be surprised if Funny Valentine was sort of inspired by Machiavelli, who said something like the end justifies the means

Great fights, great use of stands, and it's over the top such as when giorno and bucciarati first meet with the "this is the taste of a liar"
Plus you don't need much information from the previous parts to watch it.
We see that giorno does the hidden face pose like how dio does in part 3
How ppl says he doesn't look like his father? U remember when he made that guy shoot himself lmao even dio would've been shocked
Looking at it now part 3s fights are longer than the other parts BUT what differentiates the jojo anime to a lot of anime’s is that the fights in general aren’t dragged on as LONG as fights from something like Naruto
underrated channel. deserves way more subs
Thank you!!
The thing I love about jojo is you can just watch any part and you don't need to watch any prior parts and every part is different and special
Ah yes. I can't wait to retrospect on Part 9s single chapter
But I genuinely enjoyed every second of part 3 from beginning to end I wasn't bored at all, it felt so different and unique.

I subscribed because of the idea of discussing part 5, 8, and the part 9 mini series
Thanks! The part 8 video should be next, followed by the part 5 one. The part 9 series is also going to be monthly obviously.
"Part 5 is generally regarded as the most disliked part of the western fan base."
I honestly find that surprising seeing as how brutal and fast paced the story is.

@@Замок-з3пit's crazy how the fanbase seems to dislike more serious protagonist in favor of stale repeat "funny ones" ( *cough* Joseph *cough* )
@@Замок-з3п bro really got mad over somone saying that giorno is boring jfc
@@zaconmacon565 it's because joseph is far more entertaining than part 3 jotaro and giorno. Bruno is serious character but he's beloved because he was also mad interesting.
I think part 8's beetle fight was so fun and amazing. For me, it was such a cool way to freshen up what a fight is. And now that more part 9 chapters are out, i love the style of it. And i think the stands are so well made for a heist story it seems to be going in
Tbh I really like Red Hot Chili Peppers and it’s final fight, the design is okay, but the ability is super strong and the user was smart enough to plan out the fight and use the environment to his advantage, and although dangerous for it, it can use ALL the electricity from a power main line, which is absurdly strong
finally someone who understand... 👍
High voltage felt like "ooh let's recreate some Dios world scenes" but world of stars and stripes was a great send off (even though valentines death was very satisfying and could have been the last fight)
Edit: for the record i like au Diego and the fanservice, but it kinda felt weird after the most satisfying end of a main jojo villain (even better than DIO)
“I won’t spoil the villain”, proceeds to show a picture of WOU next to Tooru. All jokes aside, this was a fun and interesting review.
29:12 that just earned you sub. 100% was not expecting that reference lmao, 10/10
I love tooru but I do agree that he could have been introduced a bit earlier or had some teases. I feel like the anime could fix this perfectly tho mainly with making tooru the one to give yasuho the hair clip rock insect. Shows more scenes of tooru constantly messing with yasuhos life
if you wanna know how killer queen evolved into kq:btd its because kira himself got stabbed and not his stand if it was a requiem then killer queen would be stabbed and not kira just clearin stuff out for you
what
@@rielzedrielzed leme explain in a simpler way
if stand get stab: yes requiem
if user get stab: no requiem
"Along with his sibling, Dragona...."
It's okay, lil bro. You can say "older brother"
Terrible review Called Tooru a bad villain
Period he’s my third favorite villian behind Kira and Pucci, the strong silent type always was my favorite type of villain.
Tooru is really interesting looking at him like this (and god Wonder of U is just one of my favorite stands), I just wish he got more time to bake in the oven and show himself off because god he’s a strange antagonist in a series where the antagonists tend to be one of the most memorable parts about it (I mean just look at Valentine before him).
awful villain
I wouldn't call him terrible, but Damo is better than him.
Jojo bizarre adventure is so great that it doesn't need a valid judgement of being not good
I wish the japanese man was Joshu. Seeing older Joshu as the head of the family would be cool/funny. I also really love Nut King Call and would like to see it more
I never understood the hate on golden wind, ist my favorite part by far and i wouldnt change anything. The openings are great the Stands are creative and fun, the side characters are interesting.
The end credits for Stone Ocean with the song Roundabout actually made me tear up ngl
I LOVED golden wind def my favorite part I watched. I’m reading SBR atm but once I’m finished with all of jojos I’ll read what I watched this time
Yo did so good on this video man 🙏 also glad to see another part 5 lover!
Hamon Beat never said Araki forgot the one off abilities.
Part 10 was fine but part 11 was amazing! Part 12 was good too.
honestly 19 was my favorite
@@funnybones98 That's hard to argue. Good chioce!
@@funnybones98 No way, 24 is leagues better!
@@Paleowgh that one dragged out a bit too much, plus the protagonist managed to make the ending even worse than part 14
@@funnybones98 If we’re gonna talk bad endings, we're seriously gonna leave out 29?
Great to see some appreciation for part 6. It was clear to me when reading it that part 6 haters were all just hopping on the bandwagon with their opinion somebody else picked out for them. (Not to say everyone who dislikes it is invalid, everyone has their own tastes when it comes to jojo parts, but calling it the worst just doesn’t make any sense)
Super well made video and good commentary. New sub from me
Thanks so much !!
Jojo youtubers not shit on Phantom Blood challenge impossible
really held of this video till i finished reading part 8 for you to show you weren't going to spoil
Phantom Menace = Steven Universe

Diamond is Unbreakable = Hilda
Vento Auero = Amphibia
Stone Ocean = The Owl House
Steel Ball Run = The Ghost and Molly McGee
JoJolion = Hailey's On It!
Yeah I definitely agree on the part 3 artstyle just feeling kind of off at times. Especially during the Dio fight where Dio just always looks incredibly strange. Like he just doesn't really look like he does in the manga.
