      Balance between the repulsive force (levitation) and the pinning force, keeping the superconductor suspended at a fixed height above the track. (vortices get "pinned" or trapped in defects or imperfections within the superconductor, creating a stable equilibrium between the magnetic field and the superconductor, this pinning effect allows the superconductor to "lock" in place relative to the magnet track, preventing it from completely jumping off.)
