  • I just whipped up this very cheap "mock up air induction system" from drain pipes, Its a "fully insulated" air induction system made from odds and ends, as a cheap experiment just to get that " turbo sucking induction sound" .
I wanted to hear this inside the car and first audible indication's are, that its better than I expected. The filter was £9 .
The cone filter inlet bore took a 75mm diameter pipe, the filter length was 155mm overall, the big filter end width was 117mm, small filter end was 88mm, total length of filter alone was 130mm.
I used a 45degree and 90 degree bend and a straight reducer, all from Screwfix.
Turbo inlet pipe was 66.5mm diameter maximum so your pipe is 66.5mm one and and 75mm the other end, simple!. You must use Exhaust Header Wrap to insulate the pipe work as the top of the engine gets so hot. £8 for 5 meters. I used 68mm diameter screwfix pipe throughout and two bends and a straight joiner, total cost £14. Rubber insulated hanger bracket was £1.85 with £3 p&p.
I have the "Standard" 2014 Fiat 500 Twin Air 850cc "Sport Model", with a 6 speed gearbox, and front diff electronic diff locks, disk brakes all round, and let me tell you, this air induction mod is a game-changer!
My Fiat 500 two cylinder twin air, has the more desirable 104 horsepower engine, and this air intake upgrade, is like giving it a shot of adrenaline. The coolest part? The sound it makes is straight-up turbo chatter, man. It's like I've got a little beast under the hood now.
The exhaust is standard, and not loud, and that how I want to keep it. Recording the turbo chatter on the mobile phone "does not do it justice."
This mod not only amps up the performance but also adds that sweet, aggressive soundtrack on accelerating that gets my heart racing. My Fiat's gone from cool to freaking awesome, and I can't wait to show it off!
For those new to Fiat 500's, all Twin air's have only "two cylinders" and a steel cam chain.
this gives the exhaust a very a distinctive "rasp" sound, not unlike the little original Fiat 500.
I personally believe the cam chain fitted for life is better than a rubber belt.
A cam chain does not require changing. Free road tax as well. the engine is also only 850cc , so great fuel economy. you should expect to have to fit a new duel mass clutch at 75,000 and a drivers door handle hinge, that's really common so consider when buying.

You should cut a hole into the cowl area and put the filter in there to grab cool air from outside the engine bay

I just brought drain pipe from Screwfix, Euro clamps from Srewfix and some glue. Tape off EBay.
