Make a bunch of lemon curd to eat with your angel food cake. It can use up your yolks and is so delicious with angel food cake!

Rachel from that 1870s homestead just did a lemon curd video last week that I made sure to put on my list of things to try. When I saw all those yolks lemon curd was the first thing I thought of.

Thanks for the garden tour, it's looking fantastic!! Love the bunting in the high tunnel, it seems to complete it. You have so many "happy places" on your property. Great idea for the cabin being used for a home gym/dance studio. I appreciate you and your mother for sharing the scratch angel food cake, it looked delicious. I love that you can put so many different icings or toppings on an angel food cake. Have a wonderful day!!

Thanks for the fun! An FYI about any egg yolk in the whites. I recently watched a chef show how adding oil to egg whites does NOT affect the ability to beat them! We have been told for soooo long that even a drop of yolk or oil will spoil the batch--just an old wife's tale. I wish I could remember his name; he does a lot of detailed explanations of cooking techniques. I frequently make angel food--freezing extra whites until I have enough. It is very easy!

It’s the little things I like about your show….like putting the whites in a separate bowl as you go along so no yolk accidentally gets into them! Even when I’m cracking eggs generally I use two bowls. 😍🇨🇦

I think your garden this year is the best you’ve had too. 😊.
    Love the bunting. ❤
I’ve definitely learnt another lesson this year starting melons. I normally don’t bother germinating melon seeds until the days and nights in June are forecast warm enough for them because it’s a waste of time doing it when they just stall. Later sowings ALWAYS catch up and outgrow earlier sowings. I knew we’d got over cold nights 12 days ago. Sowed all my melon seeds which immediately germinated on the top shelf of the greenhouse. Unfortunately we had two overcast yet warm days when they germinated and they ALL stretched tall looking for the sun. I’m so cross with myself for not foreseeing this. I must’ve always been lucky that the sun was actually shining during all my previous squash, melon germinating days. Beware everyone. When all other conditions are perfect for germinating squash and melons in pots, do make sure you’re not going to have heavily overcast skies. 😢

My mom used whipped cream as the icing, using tang crystals (cover cake with canned mandarin slices), strawberry quik (sliced fresh berries or a sauce from frozen ones), or chocolate quik. She usually bought the angel food cake as she wasn’t a scratch baker.

Have you heard of or used a spray of purified water/white vinegar/baking soda on your potatoes to keep them from sprouting all winter? I was just curious as to whether it works or not.
    200 grams purified water
    20 grams white vinegar
    5 grams baking soda
After harvesting potatoes place in single layer on a flat surface. Mix well & pour into spray bottle. Shake bottle & spray potatoes. Allow to dry turn & repeat. After drying, store in cardboard box(s).
I have never frosted an angel food cake, we use ours for strawberry shortcake. Your gardens look wonderful & the buntings are beautiful.

Chelsea spray milk on you plants that have the aphids on the. The milk will kill them off. Just use a spray bottle that has the misting and it will get rid of them.

Thank you so much for the tour! When you have so many lettuces, what do you do with all of them 😂 we had 6 butter lettuces, and had some salads (definitely plan to be more intentional about including daily salads next year), but then all 6 plants bolted/flowered. Does everyone just have a period of time that salads are an all-day/every-day thing? (LOVE everything you share, Chelsea- thank you so so much for all the guidance and inspiration!)

Hey Chelsea, Living Traditions Homestead did a video on aphids,, MIKK. Yep- milk gets RID of them. Too much to type so go to their channel and get it straight from the horses mouth as they say. 🥰👍 Awesome video 😊. I was out in my gardens this morning at 6:00 - I go every morning and you’re right. It’s that time you can see growth new every day. I’ve done some harvesting just in the last week Our gardening doesn’t get going outside until mid May. When some of you are showing stuff4” high in your garden, makes us look at the table, window sills anywhere that’s flat to set pots on to start seeds, not even sprouted yet and feel inadequate 😄

You might try adding some mint to a bucket of water to spray onto your currant bushes... the bugs don't like it

Watched a video where they used milk to spray at night and water in the morning to kill off the aphids...along with ladybugs and something else.
