Hi Alk, great advice! Edged wings is currently my most rare weapon, what is the optimal offhand weapon to pair with it? I have been using Aneobi to increase Matk but Nitelites video killed that for me when he showed the numbers lol. What is the best and how do you work it out so I can learn for myself? Thanks 🤔🧐😁
@@truenemesisprime550 Well as sad as it may be it is true that if you don't have OB6 Aneobi that you won't truly benefit from the buff especially if you don't have a high base stat of MATK to begin with. I would say you could always opt for another weapon such as Shinra Blade or Kuja. They have abilities that are both useful and have r abilities that are beneficial to your Seph. As far as self learning the best thing I was able to do was to just test certain things by mixing r abilities up to see what produced the biggest numbers. Also Familiarizing myself with the weapons so that I can create teams quicker. Hope that helps and yes I do have a channel but I am not an active content creator.

These interviews are GREAT! It is very strange how the game figures CP values. I've had instances of just switching a main weapon on a character boosting their CP by a 1-2k simply because the game thinks the attack ability is "better" even if all my stats get lowered. I think a lot of people still don't really understand CP values and why they really aren't that important. Being properly equipped for any given fight is more value than just going for high CP.

the huge impact of those ice materia is not due to diminishable returns and is replicable on much lower power accounts. its just due to the game calculating a lot of combat power if your combat ability matches with your elemental potency, in this case: ice. the game values this element fit incredibly highly and does so even if you have multiple same element combat abilities. an easy fix that applibot could implement: stop calculating the matching element this highly if the character already has one matching element combat ability.
Looking at it now, it's a pretty good tip. As for FF9 banner, I only went for it to not only get Cloud's weapon, but to also get the outfit too. And I can just change the skin of the weapon that is more beneficial for combat to the appearance I like.
The FF9 weapons is the alternate sub-weapons or main weapons for elementals. For example: Murasame main, Zidane Off-hand, then Tifa Sub-weapon and 1 more Physical Ability boost and 1 Lightning potency. Go with Murasame Garb. Youll deal more damage than building max Lightning potency at max attack stance. So if players just coming in and had a lot of gems, the FF9 banner is a must pull.
I found this very helpful. I'm a casual F2P player and the advice on Ai Aerith will be good for me as I usually play recommended party and auto (lazy) until I can't clear something. I don't know how to properly build the team when I do need to. Great vid :D
@@Nitelight9 Can you do a dedicated video on how to build a team for specific content for example I had no idea that you should have multiple elemental materia, I've only ever had 1 elemental to attack weakness per character. Are there other things like that? For instance I also make sure I have a heal for each character just incase my healer doesn't heal or dies, is that wrong? 🤔
The multiple elements was just for "bloat" if you listen closely to what Alk says when he shows that, it's just for high CP number, not useful for content. You likely do not need a heal for each character though. If you have any AOE heal, that should be plenty on 1 hero. @@truenemesisprime550
thanks you're right he does say for bloat but there have been times I haven't been able to play content due to low power level and that will help with that. Would love a video on how to set up teams for optimal autoplay :D

Completely agree with the takes on the crossover banners. Cloud and Tifa weapons might be useful in future, but who really knows yet. Aerith's weapon from the crossover banner is straight doodoo just being honest. Sephiroth weapon is amazing, but majority of people use Sephiroth as a dps so this debuff weapon should've been given to someone else. I don't get why the devs hate Barret as well. The devs need to change it up on character banners and start showing all the characters love. It feels like when they drop a banner its almost always Cloud, Aerith or Seph with a couple thrown in gradually like Tifa and Red here or there. The amount of attention they give to those three characters is crazy. So people running teams outside those three are at a huge disadvantage.
The reason is simply money, keep pushing banners on the most played characters to increase opportunities of money being spent per account. Once usage numbers change, they you will see banners for other characters. Guaranteed they are sitting on banners to release for other characters. For example, I'm sure another ff9 cross event will appear with different banners if they notice barret is being played more. Until then, one or all cloud, seph and aerith will be in our face every banner rotation.
Awsome video except when hes talking about Aerith ff9 banner, when he says ppl usually have a party of 1 healer 1 buffer/debuffer 1 dps, im sorry but i have yet to see a fight where i have to perma heal whit aerith and not have extra atb to either buff or debuff xD, there no other char that can buff magic atk (except Baret now) but there are a lot of characters that can debuff and even better than what sun umbrela does.
27:40 I'm saving most of my gems waiting for playable Angeal and most of the time esp in co-op I'm using Aerith. I kinda hate her with a passion but since I haven't really invested gems into anyone she's my only option. I have Fairly Tail and Umbrella. Also funny how much loves she gets from the game. She gets a new outfit like almost every time.
@@Nitelight9 I had like 130,000 gems and finally used some to get Tifa's Santa outfit. Only times I used gems was in the beginning to get Cloud samurai outfit and Sephiroth's ice outfit.
Nice! I am old. I rely on auto and semi. Tifa is a fav, but the amount of work to use her fully is too much for me. Cuja is a lifesaver that allows me to clear so much more content. Also, the game didn't give me a single healer weapon for the first 2 months. I think the devs are listening because i complained on a stream, and i got Tifa heal weapon the next morning and Aeriths in the evening. That week i also got Matt's healing. Now i can beat most content on auto. One thing i wish he would have told us is how fair he thinks this gotcha is. I have played so many gotcha that i whaled on and found they cheated. As in, spending 100s on a banner and getting a dozen weapons, all of them dupes, and maybe one new weapon. The more i spend each month, the worse it got.
I understand! Always important to do what enabled you to have fun or make you the happiest in the game! Tifa certainly requires a lot of fast action lol. So I get that! That would have been a good question! Hard to think of some of these lol

23:30 i mean, the ai is going to cast curaga only if youre in defensive stance. if im not controlling my healer but i still want her to heal, i look at the atb bar, wait until shes at almost 5 atb bars, and switch to defense mode, and ive never seen the ai not cast curaga then. this is actually how i managed to do the last ranking dungeon fights, cuz i wanted to actually control tifa for her debuffs, and i always keep an eye on my aeriths(healer) atb bar and just switch to defensive stance whenever i want her to heal. so its not always necessary to control your healer imo.
Fair point, there is definitely a lot that goes into manipulating the AI to get it to do what you want, and I think we can all agree that without careful strategy and/or planning, it will almost never do what you want lol
The problem is when you get to my level of gear your healer will have 2700+ heal. I don’t need to swap to defense for the heal I just want her to heal in attack stance if they need heals and I’m playing on manual lol

Clouds ff9 weapon looks good to me for a strong generic damage boosting cloud with the boost physical ability potency. Give him that and a corresponding elemental materia and you have solid damage with max command stance. Sure Matt’s weapon has the same r abilities, but that’s most helpful on him; as a sub weapon cloud would only get half that value from it so you wouldn’t be able to push the R ability level as high. I have a stronger setup for straight lightning damage on cloud for sure between Murasame and the Murasame garb, but i can’t realistically build like that for every single element without whaling hard. I already missed his water outfit and my maritime blade is only at OB1, so it will be a long time before I can make a specific water setup to outdamage cloud decked out in the FF9 gear with a 4-5 star waters blow. Then considering all the other elements still left out it seemed like a good investment as someone who wants to use cloud as much as possible. Between zidane sword at OB7, the outfit, and amarants claw at OB4, my cloud has rank 6 physical ability potency for 70% bonus damage during max command stance. I might regret going so hard on the banner later if cloud gets a wishlistable weapon with the exact same r abilities, but I think it’s pretty unlikely we’ll see that since we just got this one, so I didn’t want to risk missing out on it.
I personally went hard on the cloud/tifa banner, so I'm with you. I find the non-elemental weapons with phys potency to be very versatile, so I like them too! Especially since it's one weapon rather than 3 or 4, so going in on it seems more efficient.
@@Nitelight9 right, it seemed like a pretty efficient way to get an all around damage boost to fit multiple situations with the added strong non elemental damage utility. I might eventually be able to change his setup for more focused elemental builds in 1-2 years when I have all his other elemental weapons and sub weapons at OB6-10 from random pulls and wishlisting, but that will take a long time and a lot of pulls given how highs the draw pool is.

I have a question about materia... are we ever going to see materia like fira be upgrade to firaga? I mean we already have weapons that have those "aga" spells but I just wonder how materia will be affected by these weapons
Great question, unfortunately I have no idea. I think if we are going to see that, it probably won't happen until after we get weapons that do stronger elemental ability casts, since they want to keep the materia dmg below the weapons.
the only problem with Tifa getting that weapon is because Tifa is a single target damage dealer since she has a shorter range due to her weapon(s) being her fists.

No. Because when you use a materia that is physical and not magic. You lose the damage that comes from the magic boost. So your stats might go up. But you are losing that damage. Most likely what is causing that drop in stats. Not hard to understand.
Combat Power should not be justified by the materia equipped, but the stats the materia gives period. The fact that the materia does physical vs magic damage is redundant when you don't even use the materia equipped lol...
I definitely have some regrets pulling on these banners. I needed an outfit for Tifa, which I did get so that was beneficial for me. Aerith was a hard pass, and I wanted Sephs costume. His weapon debuffs sound good on paper, but Tifa does it just fine. There's not really any reason to have both physical and magic att debuff on a single weapon. There's no enemies in the game that really switch between these 2 as a main attack. Sure the Waltz hits with physical Strike, but you're healing through that anyway and it's only one person target. It would be cool to see you interview some minnow or completely F2P players as well. Maybe do like 3 short interviews to compare in a video? I'd throw my hat in on that.
I would definitely like to broaden my horizons with who I interview. And I would also certainly like to do some non-whale players because I like diversity. Feel free to DM me on discord! At some point, I just rely on people coming to me or recommending someone.
There are definitely bosses that use both physical and magical attacks. But even more importantly, you get flexibility from Seph's weapon. This is most important in dungeons where you face a lot of different enemies.
I honestly will never regret pulling on that banner. The r abilities are not useful, the costume is okay but have other options, and the skill itself is mediocre on her as a char. ^_^ I also am not a completionist so I don't have to worry about that either haha.
I completely agree with the point that because of the overboost system sooner or later even f2p will have max ob summoned weapons and at that point the game will be purely strategy
The overall combat power is also determined by R abilities, not just your stats. Even though the lightning and fire materia had better stats, due to seph being geared for ice and having no R ability for lightning, the overall output of power from that lightning materia becomes far less. Thats also why the fire materia had a higher power increase than the lightning because his seph at least has the fire sword equipped giving him a fire buff in his R abilities but still nowhere near as much as what theyre giving his ice

It's not diminishing returns, it's calculating power from your Ice pot.

I already missed his water outfit and my maritime blade is only at OB1, so it will be a long time before I can make a specific water setup to outdamage cloud decked out in the FF9 gear with a 4-5 star waters blow. Then considering all the other elements still left out it seemed like a good investment as someone who wants to use cloud as much as possible.
Between zidane sword at OB7, the outfit, and amarants claw at OB4, my cloud has rank 6 physical ability potency for 70% bonus damage during max command stance. I might regret going so hard on the banner later if cloud gets a wishlistable weapon with the exact same r abilities, but I think it’s pretty unlikely we’ll see that since we just got this one, so I didn’t want to risk missing out on it.
I personally went hard on the cloud/tifa banner, so I'm with you. I find the non-elemental weapons with phys potency to be very versatile, so I like them too! Especially since it's one weapon rather than 3 or 4, so going in on it seems more efficient.
@@Nitelight9 right, it seemed like a pretty efficient way to get an all around damage boost to fit multiple situations with the added strong non elemental damage utility. I might eventually be able to change his setup for more focused elemental builds in 1-2 years when I have all his other elemental weapons and sub weapons at OB6-10 from random pulls and wishlisting, but that will take a long time and a lot of pulls given how highs the draw pool is.

I have a question about materia... are we ever going to see materia like fira be upgrade to firaga? I mean we already have weapons that have those "aga" spells but I just wonder how materia will be affected by these weapons
Great question, unfortunately I have no idea. I think if we are going to see that, it probably won't happen until after we get weapons that do stronger elemental ability casts, since they want to keep the materia dmg below the weapons.

the only problem with Tifa getting that weapon is because Tifa is a single target damage dealer since she has a shorter range due to her weapon(s) being her fists.

No. Because when you use a materia that is physical and not magic. You lose the damage that comes from the magic boost. So your stats might go up. But you are losing that damage. Most likely what is causing that drop in stats. Not hard to understand.
Combat Power should not be justified by the materia equipped, but the stats the materia gives period. The fact that the materia does physical vs magic damage is redundant when you don't even use the materia equipped lol...

I definitely have some regrets pulling on these banners. I needed an outfit for Tifa, which I did get so that was beneficial for me. Aerith was a hard pass, and I wanted Sephs costume. His weapon debuffs sound good on paper, but Tifa does it just fine. There's not really any reason to have both physical and magic att debuff on a single weapon. There's no enemies in the game that really switch between these 2 as a main attack. Sure the Waltz hits with physical Strike, but you're healing through that anyway and it's only one person target.
It would be cool to see you interview some minnow or completely F2P players as well. Maybe do like 3 short interviews to compare in a video? I'd throw my hat in on that.

There are definitely bosses that use both physical and magical attacks. But even more importantly, you get flexibility from Seph's weapon. This is most important in dungeons where you face a lot of different enemies.
I am determined to make it work without the Seph weapon ;) Although it is a fantastic weapon!! @@chipmunkm4n

I honestly will never regret pulling on that banner. The r abilities are not useful, the costume is okay but have other options, and the skill itself is mediocre on her as a char. ^_^ I also am not a completionist so I don't have to worry about that either haha.
I completely agree with the point that because of the overboost system sooner or later even f2p will have max ob summoned weapons and at that point the game will be purely strategy

The overall combat power is also determined by R abilities, not just your stats. Even though the lightning and fire materia had better stats, due to seph being geared for ice and having no R ability for lightning, the overall output of power from that lightning materia becomes far less. Thats also why the fire materia had a higher power increase than the lightning because his seph at least has the fire sword equipped giving him a fire buff in his R abilities but still nowhere near as much as what theyre giving his ice
