Great video Payne! Sub weapons with good R. abilities are very important. Whenever I get enough Myth ore to uncap I always look at the highest rarity weapons I have, look at the R. abilities at max OB, and generally go for the ones that have HP boost, Phy or Mag boost, elem%, and then the stance%. For me 2 weapons I can say I am trying to get more copies of are the Bald Eagle(OB3) and Black Whiskers(OB1). BE gets 54 Phy boost, 36 Ice pot, and 544 attack from the weapon itself. BW gets 54 Phy boost, 36 Water pot, and 540 weapon attack. Both of these are great sub-weapons for a main Phys DPS. Even if you don't need the Elem boost, 54 in an R. ability is outstanding. Most weapons with this type of R. ability combo generally max out at 40/36 respectively.
The guide I didn’t know I needed!! Besides Murasame, Fairy Tale and Edged Wings I haven’t leveled any other weapon up to 90 because I wasn’t sure if it would be worth the Ores. Thank you for this!
Good video and topic. I only have Murasame, Apology in Hell, Edged Wings and Fairy Tale at Level 90 as they are the main weapons for my primary team. I'm also thinking of leveling Dark Heavens, and Zidanes Sword. We'll see.

good video, i personally would upgrade ob +4 to 90 tho as this raises the 2nd R ability to the level of the 1st. Also im using amaranth claw on my offslot for tifa (even tho its ob 4) because the massive amount of hp doesnt help her dps while the christmas glove at ob 1 already increases her dps significantly. Might be a personal preference, but i like to get my mag / physical attack stat to 40+ with my mainhand so i can still add a offhand with this stat or without it and only need max 1 subslot to max it out. sadly the hp mainstat on dps weapons is a common sickness on "non-cloud" characters tho, so yeah i can see it when someone wants to use a hp weapon in the mainslot because of this reason XD

Plus all the free tickets/pulls we have been given since launch. You would think that we would have pulled at least one 5 star copy of it, right? My Cloud is currently at Lv.70 and on the growth tab, I've noticed that his Statstream can be further be unlocked at Lv.72. How is it possible to break the level cap of 70. Again I really do appreciate the help.
I upgrade weapons to 90 if I use them as a primary weapon, because you get 100% of a weapons stats if they're your primary weapon. I choose primary weapons based on their C Ability and their materia slots(S abilities).
Hey Payne, great video! Only thing I’d mention is that some weapons even as mainhand weapons don’t necessarily need to be pushed to 90 as the gain is pretty minimal. Case in Point, Fairytale. You do get some extra stats which is nice but you’re really just getting a niche R.Ability in Earth damage reduction. I also think supports (like Aerith) don’t necessarily need level 90 main hand weapons, but maybe that’s just me! I def 💯 say do it for your DPS units tho!
careful when you upgrade sub weapons for your chars, there are for example better choices to boost sephiros magic ice build than a patk based bald eagle
@@PayneBlade oh ya defo! I ended up getting Tifas ice wep after all and Bald Eagle works like a charm as sub (also used it on Lucia herself half an eternity ago when farming Ifrit). Actually got a bigger issue with minmaxing Clouds lightning build cause the only boost atk wep is Shock Buster and its more magical and all the others are mainly boost HP. And even Matts Broadsword Axis which for all intents and purposes is a phys sword gives more matk stats :x
Imo lvl 90 2 stance for physical and magical is important because 2 max lvl 36 weapons (1/2 being R abilities) gets you to level 5 which does 60% damage vs elemental does 55%, going just all elemental weapons with attack physical hp I think is too risky since there will be that off chance you fight something resisting that elemental and then that build is ruined, need to have diversity, stance and physical/magick to lvl 5/6 is smarter then just maxing elemental.. yes elemental is IMPORTANT but not for the R abilities, just the weapon damage vs enemy weakness. Also remember, you may quit tomorrow or the servers close, so play how you want and also and plus side to 90 more stats too not just R ability bonus much greater than the other levels
Hey Payne, another helpful video as always. It looks like Tifa and Cloud crossover weapons are top tier based on what you’re doing with them. I couldn’t afford to pull for them, but I did do one 10 draw on the banner and got a 3 star copy for both. Are these weapons worth the cost of upgrading the rarity?
Hey brotha! TBH I would just hold off on all that IN CASE anything else comes down soon with better power. using blue prints from 3 star to 5* will take 210 blue prints and I think that's a lot unless you already had them at 5* and then pushing them.
I don’t think there’s much worth in taking Fairy Tale to 90, as it levels the 2nd R ability only, in this case Earth Resist. I’d probably focus on dps weapons with a strong 2nd R ability levelling to 90.
I'm a vet, and the way I do it is if I'm putting together a build, and the R Ability on one of the weapons is 1-2 points shy of hitting the next level, I'll put it to 90. I'm a day one player and I only have five Lv90 weapons. Sitting on 200+ ore, no real reason to use them.
If you're curious, my 90s are Murasame, Sun Umbrella, Mad Minute, Killer Hornet, and Fairy Tail. I regret Fairy Tail but it is what it is. I pushed it to 90 during like the first week or so of the game before I knew better lmao.
@@lens_hunter similar case for me. I took Glenn’s hardcore squad up to 90 before I realize that it was completely unnecessary. But, I’m sitting on about 120 still, with no intention of spending anytime soon. 90’d the same weapons as you minus Fairy Tale, plus Powersoul, Edged Wings, and Bald Eagle.

I loved playing ff7 as a kid I have to say I don’t think I ever really understood this part of choosing the right weapons and especially materia. Listening to this is helpful but also super overwhelming lol like your talking a whole diff language I need a dictionary to explain what certain words mean. 😭
Haha that's normal with mobile games Shirley. I have a beginners guide and many guides out there that start from the basics. Like understanding R abilities and things like that will really help make this portion of the game feel a lot less intimidating
Honestly, I don't think the difference between lv 80 and lv 90 weapons is enough to really be worth fretting over. It's like maybe 20 points of your main stat and 2 R. Ability points. It's never going to be what makes or breaks your build.
That's why OB makes such a difference and tbh I've bad some builds where I needed 6 points and I had a 9 point (reduces by half) and I got 12 by going to 90 and it pushed the r ability to what I need. It's super important to see your builds
I had a few noobs tell me that they think making a free to play weapon to lv 90 is good 🤣 I keep telling them that it should be an elemental main weapon or a banner weapon but they don’t wanna listen. They just think that because the free weapon is max overboost that it is the better weapon

I honestly haven't seen it work with limit. It worked with cross slash but not summon. I tried it and it actually just did the same dmg

Ya depends what you have with limited access as f2p. Luckily bald eagle is an amazing patk weapon for physical builds so it can double dip

Early mistake on my end when I was a beginner. Definitely don't take fairytale to 90
You should really think what weapons you want to lvl 90, but lvl 80 is another story. Already got all my 5 star or better weapons to lvl 80. :D

Yes but to go from 3 stars to 4 it takes 10 copies of the and then from 4 to 5 it takes 200. So it can take a while with dupes or blue prints
