Kaleidoscopes Danny Brigman Hi Danby Im pleased you got to see this footage. Kaledoscope / Fairfield parlour such a faultless and perfect band, thank you and the others for such perfect music! :-)
Kaleidoscope are one of THE most wonderful bands EVER! One of the very few bands that really say " Psychedelic " far more than the usual suspects (Beatles Etc ) . The songs simply stay in your Head - forever ! many thanks to band from this 58 Year old Psychedelic fan since i was 17 . kaleidoscope made up for the accident of being born 10 years too late for hearing it the 1st time around . Truly lovely music by a hyper talented bunch of musicians . All power !!!
I nearly fell off my chair when I saw this.... Kaleidoscope, France Gall and Serge Gainsbourg in one clip! Anglo-French Pastoral Psychedelic Yé-Yé! If only they had performed Sky Children, I could have left the planet a happy man! Huge kudos to you for archiving and sharing this!
The young lady next to France Gall is the equally lovely actress Haydee Politoff, who starred in Marcel Carne's swinging 60's gem 'Les Jeune Loups'(1967) that year.

Interesting: vocalist Daltrey explains the 'meaning' of 'Flight From Ayesha'. Serge G is 'in the house'. Forward a few years to the classic, the 'History of Melody Nelson'. The song 'Cargo Culte', where Melody dies, lost in a plane crash... was Serge taking notes? Great clip, thank you.
I was just a kid at the time, living on a hippie commune in the East Bay hills of Hayward, CA. My parents were big fans, and this brings back so many memories.
This footage, along with their unaired Beat Club performance, now officially released as Sky Children: The Best of Kaleidoscope / Fairfield Parlour on CD/DVD ✌️
For French pop fans you've got France Gall and I think Mireille Darc, plus of course Serge Gainsbourg, and I think it's Jacques Dutronc doing the brief interview. All big stars in their day in France.
This band has Bauhaus vibes! The album this comes off of happens to be one of my top three favorite British psych records the other two being 'Days of Future Passed' and 'Piper at the Gates of Dawn'. I also like the guitarist here who's sporting the mother of all combovers!😆
I fantasize , like these two Kaleidoscope's songs could have prefectly been inside Michelangelo Antonioni's "Blow Up" Original Soundtrack, but maybe the film was already done by the time "Flight from Ayesha" and "Holiday Maker" were recorded. Anyway, it is MY great fantasy.
