Cool product! Really happy to see pro/pro-sumer product innovation in a package that's really accessable and different from just standard "reference monitors."
After seeing the specs, I was expecting this to cost way more than it actually does! Maybe next time they'll be releasing a medium or large PA setup 🤞🏼
Just received these via shipment, and couldn't be happier. Clear, and balanced sound. One thing though, is there a way to boost the volume a little? I am on a windows 11 setup, with all volumes maxed and I need a little more volume. I already have switched 4, 5, and 6 flipped up into the up position. Is there a setting for max volume? Thanks!
Our entire team is at NAMM this week, but let's arrange a call next week and we'll walk through this together if that works for you. Can you submit a ticket on our website?
I have and don't have limited space depending on how you look at it. I have been debating on the 1000w kali sub can't remeber if it's a 10" OR 12"along wih the In 8's.... or doing this. to do the normal studio monitor version I would have to build a shelf behind my pc monitors above them "screens/ displays" or I would have to get small monitors and keep the large sub. building a shelf is not that much of a problem slight hassle but no big deal or dioing something like this. Wish I knew how the sound difference would be. I would mix very rarely mainly listen to music and play games with it or movies etc. Also is there a downfall to using the optical input on this plugged into my pc sound card I have which is really nice vs. plugging into audio interface? If I bought one and decided I wanted to go the other route how hard would it be to swap/return. I know this is several questions but Thank you
It sounds like the UNF is perfect for you. The sound difference is going to be more dependent on the relationship between yourself, the room and the speakers than whether you get IN-UNF or IN-8. No, no issue using optical from the computer. If I were you, I'd grab the UNF.
I do not rule out buying such equipment, but I wonder if it also works on Linux systems. First of all, in Ubutnu. Are these monitors compatible with these systems? Since they are on Android it probably wouldn't be a problem with Linux. It's practically the same kernel.
I am getting VERY little bass from this. It is like one foot away from the back wall center of my room on my desk and DIP 1 and 2 are on as per the instructions. Any ideas?
would using these in a well treated room give any significant advantage when it comes to achieving a flat response as opposed to an untreared room since they are UNF?
This sounds like an extraordinarily useful product. A few questions: Can I set the satellites on stands so they're at ear level? How would this impact the response? How would reflections off midi controllers and different desk materials would impact the sound?
desk materials, unless you're some sort of mad man with a shag carpet desk, won't really impact the sound at all. Most other items on your desk are going to ask as diffusers. The spatial resolution of the IN-UNF will only be helped with the light diffusion provided by things like keyboards, midi controllers, etc.
How far can the satellites be from the bass system? Could I for example put the bass system behind my monitor riser and put the satellites either up on the riser on either side of my screen? Or on the desktop in front of the riser?
@@kaliaudio Check out Nunya's question below. Can we place Satellites on stands at ear level on either side of our screen, or do they need to be on the desk to get the best response? Looks like a potentially great product, I just want to know more about how I can incorporate it into my setup before purchasing.
@@nunyabizfam106 the bass unit functions as a monitor riser, but you can get a little bit of distance. For the most accurate monitoring, we recommend using the diagrams for precise placement.
How does this work with room treatment? I have a strange shaped room, kind of combining two of the example rooms you have in the user guide, but I haven't treated it at all because I felt there wasn't any ideal way of doing so because of the shape. How does this work with a room like mine?
Working in the ultra-nearfield is going to mean that room interactions are a BIT less pronounced vs. using larger studio monitors. But there are still some best practices that will help you avoid big old bass lumps at your listening position. The biggest thing we've seen so far is a pretty substantial buildup if you back is up against a wall. So if you can aim the IN-UNF towards an empty part of the room, that is more ideal.
Best advice I can give (I'm proficient in acoustics) is to experiment and listen. Learning to HEAR what different placement of speakers do, vs different listening positions, is something that does take time. But it's like learning to ride a bike: once you know how - you'll never forget it, and it'll help you out throughout the rest of your life.
Weighs about 25 lbs. We're considering a travel case, but it's hard to gauge how much interest there would be. The case would be ~$150-200. Would you buy something like that?
@@kaliaudio Absolutely. Especially if it was hard case and protected them while traveling/ packing them up safe for flight checkins. Honestly I think this would be the first practical full range speakers that are travel safe available, and certainly the only 3-way. When I saw these my eyes lit up because of that.
@@kaliaudio I'm testing the product next week and if I keep it, a travel case would be a cool option that I would get. It would be nice to know when I'm at home I can put them somewhere safe abd sturdy.
If I bought this setup it would be for it’s relative portability, so I would buy a travel case for sure. I don’t like to mix on headphones. I work from home so don’t need this setup yet… my LP-6v2s and WS-12 are perfect for home.

@@kaliaudio thanx Nate. @@John-lt8wv Great questions! Same amp platform as IN-5. Because there is less output overall, noise on UNF is lower than on IN-5, but in both cases it's basically not noticeable unless your ear is on the tweeter. There is a passive crossover in the satellite speakers on IN-UNF, which means that the satellites only need one set of + and - instead of 2.

would using these in a well treated room give any significant advantage when it comes to achieving a flat response as opposed to an untreared room since they are UNF?
Sure does! The lower the total output level, the less the effects of the room are going to cause issues.
Does the sub need to placed directly opposite from where you are seated? Or can it be in the corner of the desk for example?
Needs to be set up as directed in order to give you a reliable reference.
