What’s worse is a more compelling movie was already spelt out in a trailer. The idea that Scott would make a deal with Kang because of lost time with Cassie and the idea that she was falling into the same traps because of his absence, only for it to fall through and Scott has to tragically give up everything to prevent Kang’s escape has the potential to be extremely compelling and on brand for how marvel portrayed him. It’s better than the mess of a film they made at least.
I KNOW RIGHT!!!! I watched that trailer so many times because yeah even tho they spelled out the plot in the trailer it would have been so cool to see the performances, Scott actually for once feel like Cassie was pulling away from him. And I even thought he was going to sacrifice himself at the end to keep Kang locked in the Quantum Realm! I was so pumped to see it. But they pretty much lied to us and gave us this… mess.
The first Ant Man film felt more like a separate movie, with its own way of things. And pretty much all of your other reasons for Ant Man’s potential of being a more dynamic character is on point.
@@Leo_artisteroin fairness to the mcu, with how often comic writers obsessed over avengers 213, the characterization of pym has to be handled delicately and with liberties. Hank pym is kind of “the last of us” of marvel characters we want it to stick to original canon except when we REALLY don’t Secret empire had a lot of issues but I have the agree with nick spencer about the treatment of pym(who is currently deader than dead after having his soul destroyed by the soul gem)
@@changvasejarik62 they were able to handle the character better in Avengers Earth's mightiest heroes. Could've done so in the movies, but chose not too. Could've been really interesting, but he's just kind of there.
I rewatched earth's mightiest heroes after the first Ant-Man, and I could feel how we're robbed with Ant-Man. He's essentially a scientist forced to live as a superheros, he's would be the type who whould otherwise in the FF but he aslo loves Janet who loves the entire idea of being avenger. There's yellow jacket, a persona made to fit the traditional hero role, yet pulled him away from everyone.
I wish I lived in the universe where the MCU was actual cinema. To see so much potential get blown-the-fuck-up is genuinely painful for silly imaginative prospectors like us.
Tony creating Ultron also caused the Sokovia Accords to happen, which now has become history with ONE LINE OF DIALOGUE from SHE-HULK of all things. They wasted Hank Pym creating Ultron AND Tony causing Civil War with one line of dialogue. It takes a special kind of incompetence to screw up things this much. I still can't get over the Sokovia Accords being swept under the rug like it was.
And th esokovia accords didnt even mattered in its own movie, bc of bucky, they left everything related to the sokovia accords just to find out who killed Tonys parents
It felt like Marvel halfway through Civil War realized it didn't actually want to tackle the more important themes and decided Iron Man getting jumped would be a better finale
I know they wanted include the Inhumans in the movies. Agents of Shield had the characters release the terrigen mist and created more Inhumans. This should've been what Civil War tackled. The Avengers and Shield's response to these new Inhumans. Could still have it open with the Avengers confronting one of these Inhumans, and then they accidentally trigger their powers. Leading to the death of many people. Causing them to draft the Accords, which they just extend to include the Avengers as well. Holding them accountable for events in the past.
@@cesar6447 What's sad is they made Bucky a relevant figure in the MCU, and now he's kind of stuck in limbo. Just feeling sad for the things he did in the past. Never allowed to actually move on from the Winter Soldier persona. Cap should've given him the Shield to allow Bucky to continue his redemption arc. Could've been with to the end of the line symbolically, instead of just abandoning him.
Best channel on the MCU. There are dozens of channels that analyze the MCU purely from a filmmaking/storytelling perspective, which is fine, but it means there are dozens of very similar videos dunking on easy targets like the She-Hulk show, all saying the same things, which makes it repetitive. We need fresh voices that say things others don't, because - for example - they know the source material really well. This is what even successful critics like Drinker and Mauler lack.
As someone who didn't read the comics, now knowing what could have been.... It's like watching the bad western anime adaptations first and then seeing the original after. You feel disgusted and cheated
As somebody who read the comics, I disagree with this entire negative video and people are just trying to get clout now for hating on Marvel it's the cool thing to do.
@@Byronic19134 yeah, it doesn't make sense at all, this guy complains in all of his videos that the MCU looks nothing like the comics, but it's been like this since day 1, so I don't know why this guy it's still on the train. Oh wait, I know why, because hating the MCU nowadays it's what sells
@agilebeast9405 People have also been pointing out how bad MCU villains besides Thanos are since the beginning and he points out in these videos how that wouldn't be the case if the MCU would do the villains right and not waste their potential for good stories so I'm not sure what you're saying.
@@Byronic19134So you just disagree just to disagree because he criticized something instead of actually tackling his criticisms? I’m sorry but just calling somebody a “hater” isn’t really a rebuttal nor does it offer deep and understanding discussion.
Interestingly the lack of comic continuity and major events being changed to different characters in the MCU is something James Gunn seems to be avoiding in the new DCU with most of the titles directly referenced to the comics without any alternatives in the way. Which imo is gonna make the new DCU more connected and not afraid to adapt the comics as intended.
I just wish they didn't focus so much on side characters. The pillars and the foundation should come from the main trio of Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. Kind of feels like it's James Gunn's version of the DCEU, and not the definitive DCEU. And there are kind of alternatives in the form of these Elseworlds stories.
Honestly I think part of the reason is how big Marvel keeps going. Most of the best stories came from when things were more grounded and 'real'. Yes Ironman or Antman's suit are future tech-magic, but it was grounded enough that it felt real. Captain America Winter Soldier felt real. All the focus now seems to be going on the powers and making them as extravagant as possible, and the characters are getting left behind to show off their abilities. Some of the best parts of No Way Home were the characters just talking, the Spidermen, the bad guys, them interacting with each other. Marvel needs to slow down and go for some smaller stakes again, not every movie being about saving the world from an OP enemy.
The state of Hollywood at the moment compared to anime is a joke. Funny they try to focus so hard on writing strong female characters but fail at writing both strong female characters and male characters at the same time. Chainsaw Man, Attack on titan, Mob Psycho, Bocchi the rock! all know how to write strong female and male characters while telling a great story.
Anime is really just crushing Hollywood right now. And, I'm honestly fine with it. Hollywood's been a cesspole of garbage and degenerates for the past 30 years.
@@allenkeettikkal3149 it really hasn't, as of chainsaw man all the women are just steps on the hero journey and coincidentally they're all "hot" and the anime/manga create forced scenes to emphasize that.
Janet and Pym really neeeded to get a heroic type death in Quantumania to stop that Kang. Would have been balsy, would have sown the sacrifices required to come if the heroes of marvel are to defeat all the other Kangs. Marvel needs to prune their roster if they wont do anything interesting with the characters.
Finally someone who reads the comics. Major missed opportunity to immediately introduce Wasp and Ant-Man in Phase 2. And then at least have Hank when Avengers: Age of Ultron rolls around.
even if they couldn't give hank his proper standalone film during phase one, he should have been introduced along janet in the avengers. then, have them be in a solo movie during phase 2, foreshadowing ultron. we have ultron in avengers 2, and then the civil war, in which hank's in tony side cuz he feels like shit for creating ultron, while janet is in cap's side. then in ant-man and the wasp, you get the time to actually develop them and reconcile, while fighting a villain like MODOK. and, maybe, perhaps, who knows... introduce songbird instead of ghost in this film.
I really liked the first Ant-man as its own standalone film. Quantumania would've been a lot better if it was like the first Ant-man; lower stakes and fun
Quantumania was amazing to me and the critiques make zero sense, like a lot of people are giving it bad reviews saying they don't feel like their were stakes, and now you're saying the stakes were too high
There’s 2 fan edits of Hank and Jan as The Main AntMan & Wasp by Greeklings and Fandom Videos. They show Hank creating Ultron and Hank & Jans relationship.
The first time i heard about antman was a MAD TV parody. They animated the shot of Loki coming through the portal at the beginning of Avengers and Nick walks up to him and they start talking. Then a squeak comes out of no where. They look down and see a tiny person and he goes “you don’t know me? I’m antman! I was one of the first avengers” and they ignore him as he goes off then Loki steps on him and they move on
They've done this method to tons of characters, not just Ant-Man. Let's call it the MCUification method. This method is where you take a long established comic book character, strip them of what made them interesting, and turn them out to be a bland, quippy, cookie-cutter Hollywood protagonist. I think the three worst victims of the MCUifcation method consist of a team and character that everybody for some reason thinks Marvel Studios nailed, and one so infamously hated that as a fan of this character, it honestly makes me sad. They are: Guardians Of The Galaxy, Dr. Strange, and Captain Marvel. I would of put Namor here aswell, but that's a whole other discussion for another comment. Just know that the MCU's 'Namor' is not even the same character. So, Namor technically doesn't even exist in the MCU. And everyone has covered what happened to Spider-Man, Thor, and Hulk, so I won't repeat those points. They let James Gunn just play around with the source material, dumb down every character to be a cheap gag, all so he can live out an 80s fantasy. Star Lord used to be a Master Chief-esque hero, and now he's Clown Solo. James's comic book films are only praised because he purposely chooses obscure, or lesser known characters, and butchers them beyond oblivion, but he gets away with it. Now we have the Suicide Squad being jokes, the Guardians are internationally seen as funny jokes, and god only knows what he's gonna do with the revamped DCEU. They were so afraid of letting Dr. Strange being a darker, more deeper film, that they needed some last minute reshoots with Dan Harmon coming in to write in the painfully unfunny comedy we got. They also vandalized Stephen's personality, completely dumping Donna's death (which was the reason he became a great neurosurgeon, and thus egotistical), and just haven't evolved him as a character. Benedict is just stuck playing another variation of his version of Sherlock, this time in a red cloak. Dr. Strange, pre origin story, was just arrogant. He wasn't funny, quippy, he wasn't a RDJ clone. He was serious, brooding, condescending, aloof, brash, and egocentric. Post origin story, he retained his seriousness and broodiness, but became kinder, compassionate, a mentor figure, someone willing to let in other people's feelings. But, he also suffers through great trauma, and is also vulnerable, sometimes shaky, and has a lot of emotional turmoil whilst being the Sorcerer Supreme. Bottom line is that in both states of the character, HE WAS SERIOUS. But alas, Marvel Studios opted to turn him into essentially magical Tony Stark, minus the charm. If you want a good version of Dr. Strange, play Midnight Suns. Watch the 2007 animated film. Or, read the comics. He's one of the few characters that haven't had their personalites changed to fit the films. Lastly, Captain Marvel. Do I even have to say anything? Mar-Vell was not only gender swapped, but was also demoted to being a bland supporting character, when he should of been more of a love interest/mentor. Another classic hero wasted. They screwed around with the lore of Captain Marvel, changed the Skrulls to being refugees (because why not), and so much that I can't even get into. But most importantly, Carol Danvers herself was changed for the worse. She actually used to a very interesting character, contrary to popular belief. She had a lot of emotional turmoil after becoming a superhero, she had feelings of anger and resentment to other heroes getting more credit than she did, she was an alcoholic for years due to the trauma she suffered from her dad's negligence, Marcus (it was a horrid storyline, but still), becoming more shaky and authoritative under Bendis for Disassembled and Secret Invasion, etc. She shares a lot of the same attributes that I gave with Stephen. The problem came in 2012, when Marvel thought that she was on the same level as Iron Man or Captain America, and decided to shove her down our throats as Captain Marvel. Media campaigns, arrogant comics writers becoming antagonistic to fans, the Tumblr crowd rearing it's ugly head, all for a character whose books are constantly cancelled, forcing her to be a supporting character on the mainline Avengers title. And instead of finding a way to improve on Captain Marvel, having her go on a hero's journey with Mar-Vell, and towards the end becoming Captain Marvel after pouring blood, sweat, and tears, and being a beloved, relatable protagonist... we got Brie Larson. Bottom line is that whilst people think the MCU has gone to the gutter, all the problems we see now were seeded in the beginning, from three things: 1- Lack of respect for corners of the source material, and unwillingness to adapt it properly. 2- Sheer terror of writing anyone and anything with seriousness, so instead we have to rely on bathos instead of pathos. 3- A rabid, dogmatic cult of a fanbase, at the ready to defend any decision that Kevin Feige, who's basically God to these folks, does. The worst part, is that the comics have suffered as a consequence of this. Anime and manga have been kicking the western comics industry for over a decade now, but Marvel could of combatted this. Instead, because of their slavishness to brand syngery, they have screwed over the continuity of Earth-616 time and time again, just to turn into an advertisement for the movies, instead of the other way around. All this has achieved is turning away longtime fans, and just angering the ones who stick around. As a result, sales are at their lowest, awful decisions just keep being made, and so many talented people are left without a job, all because Marvel is trying to make their comics appealing to a younger audience that isn't there. Most kids and teens today don't read comics, and that's just reality. TLDR; Marvel Studios have changed and vandalized so many characters, and the problems began in 2012. And Marvel Comics have suffered for this.
I disagree with Star Lord, he is one of the most complex mcu characters and despite being diferent from the comics he is a well rounded and relatable protagonist. There is much more to talk about him than what you said.
I’ve heard that the comic Civil War 2 (where Carol Danvers went against Iron Man in advocating what is essentially Minority Report) was only made to help promote the Civil War film or to use the hype of the movie. Either way, it left the comic to be rushed. That comic of course really made Carol looked like the bad guy (girl) where Tony Stark, who was the one who had fallen the deep end in the first Civil War to the point of hiring villains, was seen as reasonable and have seen to have learned the right lessons from the first Civil War.
The Carol Danvers Issue, I think, can be traced back to the fact that 2012 Marvel desperately wanted a Wonder Woman character to use in the movies later down the line - a female character they still held the film rights to, who had actual powers that were easy to understand, and who didn't appear on the surface to be a knockoff of a well-known male character. They looked at their stable of characters, and Carol fit the bill, and as a bonus they got to make her Captain Marvel, which solved another issue: that being the fact that they have to publish a "Captain Marvel" comic series every so often or they lose the trademark and DC gets to use the name with impunity.
Somebody pointed out to me that in the word "quantumania" you can find the words ANT and MAN. And that they could've marketed the film as "quANTuMANia". That title is way shorter, cleaner, and is clever. It's even symmetrical. How do films cost millions but nobody in the room thinks about something like this in the process of filmmaking?
I always really liked Hank and Janet in Earth's Mightiest Heroes, I thought she was fun and he was interesting being a reluctant hero in a different way.
Facts!!! Hank Pym should’ve been a founding member of the avengers! He should’ve also been the one to create Ultron and became Yellowjacket. I like EMH version of Hank Pym! They did him justice. And your right about Jan also! She’s so cool! She’s the heart of team. One of the best female superheroes in media history! The writers made a mistake not putting Hank and Jan as Ant-Man and The Wasp in the MCU.
Marvel needs to pull a Synder Cut for Avengers Age Of Ultron and Ant-Man. Give us a Ultron that is a silent Cold blooded Robot that doesn’t tell jokes and has a better comic accurate design and Not nerfed. And give us Younger versions of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne as the main Ant-Man and The Wasp in the MCU.
6:30 Although I am genuently one of those who loves Ant Man, and its one of my most favorite superhero movies. Granted a lot of this was to do with cool fighting scenes, really well implementing the size change power combat. The building white figure and the train fight are the most memorable scenes to me. I wish there was more done with it.
This is why I wasn't that fully impressed with the earlier avengers films. Knowing who ant man was always felt his presence was completely wasted when he could have been the next "iron man" after RDJ left.
Whoa your right I never really knew what he was like in the comics until now and seeing what he was like I really wish we got some of that instead that whole comic story ark for him sounds amazing and the wasp aswell
My introduction to a similar interperted Hank Pym was Earth's Mightest Heroes. That show is freakin' awesome and always had me wishing the MCU was sort of more like it when I was a kid. Characters like Ultron, Enchantress, Zemo, Doctor Doom, Janet, Hank, T'Challa, Ms. Marvel, and other recurring characters were introduced to me in that show, so many of my views of Marvel Characters are based on those versions.
Tbf they coulda done a whole Ultron Era/phase which is crazy to say about a villain who was boring for the time-being. It's more about the potential of the character and arcs cos if we just took everything from the MCU then Spider himself would just be a quirky memelord
Kinda crazy how shafted Ant-man got it never should’ve be Scott Lang it never should’ve been Paul Rudd he should’ve been there way earlier I see that now
I know it's next to impossible at this point but it's my dream that an Ant-Man movie gets made with the same care and love that movies like Blade Runner 2049 got made with- even if it doesn't perform at the box office. I never really cared about the character until the EMH show got me hooked on his character and story arcs, it's a shame his MCU appearances were wasted and that the EMH show is dead in the water 😔
If i were in charge of The MCU i would use Multiverse to reboot The Avengers with new actors playing Ironman,Thor,Hulk,Ant-Man and The Wasp with The Fantastic 4 being introduced later on and build up Dr Doom to be The New Villain of The MCU
I was so heartbroken that they skipped over hank, and it doesn’t help that they make Ironman creator of everything and now that he’s gone what’s left no prime hank and who knows how they will write reed richards.
1:27: how was it stupid, the change makes sense for tony stark to make ultron, he wanted peace in our time, he wanted something that could help them take out aliens when they come to earth again like in the 1st avnegers movie, he wanted a shield to protect earth, also marvel has said that ultron will come back in future movies
Anthony Starr would have been a good Hank Pym if the movies followed his comics story more closely. Would have been interesting to see him become Yellowjacket.
Yeah, I feel exactly the same way about Moon Knight and how cowardly Marvel was with his portrait! What modern Ant man comics can you recommend? I'm very much the type of comic fan, who prefers stuff from post 2000. So far I've only read Irredeemable Ant man and was underwealmed.
Thank you for pointing out how Marvel butchered Moon Knight in his own show. I thought it was I alone, who had a problem with it. Marvel do him dirty in that show. He's only Moon Knight in name only.
@@markmolino679 MK has been made into this beautiful metaphor for mental struggles and Marvel Studios missed the point entirely with their signature cowardice. Godzilla Mendoza made an amazing video about that! ua-cam.com/video/bxx7t1TKMp0/v-deo.html
THANK YOU. Moon Knight is probably the worst character that Marvel Studios screwed over. Like, holy crap, if you've read any run of Marc Spector, from Warren Elis, Jeff LeMire, Brian Michael Bendis, etc, it's so clear that they have PERMANENTLY ruined Marc. If you wanna see a good version of Moon Knight, I'm currently working on a fanon project that fixes the entire MCU to being a lot more serious, and comics accurate. It's called MCU Reborn, if you wanna check it out.

Watching these comic videos talking about the MCU apparently there’s a chance for some kind of reset after secret wars so im hoping they reset things and are able to establish some good stories like these
Hear me out. Ant Man 1: About Hank Pyms origin Ant Man 2: Takes place after AOU (where Hank was involved) and wasp is introduced. At the end he gives the suit to Scott and goes hidden Ant Man 3: Hank is the villain for the first half becomes a hero again after
7:13 now that you point this out, I'm really annoyed that three pym related characters are old and incapable of being heroes, hank Pym, jennet van dyne, and bill foster, i admit i didn't really need a black goliath in the mcu but they still halfheartedly shoved them in with one of the three being absent for a movie and a half
Around the 4 min mark In tony starks defense, the whole plot line of captain America:civil war was tony feeling guilty about ultron and it was the whole driving force behind the decisions Tony was making
The fact it took a guilt trip from a parent of someone who was doing work in Sokovia, would Tony have never given any thought to the collateral damage and lives lost while he's out "kicking ass"?
@@hyperion3145 my guess is he just returned to the bar and illegally pays the barkeep to keep playing music and make sure the cup never stays empty. He’s the 15th generation of genocidal robots but maybe he tips well.
there's an alternate timeline where in the mcu, Ultron returned in WandaVision somehow (and was a good guy to Wanda but eventually dipped to go form an evil plan for later) and he is the third act battle villain for Quantumania as an antagonist to Hank Pym (and he'd also be distraction and reason as to how Kang wins or gets away), with Scott and Hope bringing in the Avengers to fight Ultron for a second time. basically this movie should have been Age of Ultron part ii. acting as the apparent "avengers/civil war level story" that marvel was bullshitting about and didnt deliver. i really wanna live in that timeline.
The reason I enjoyed the film was cause I grew up knowing Hank Pym. Knowing what he could be. AEMH certainly helped, getting that Lego Set was dream come true. I think I still have it somewhere. I swapped out Scott's headpiece for one that fit Ant Man better. The REAL Ant Man.
I guess your not going to believe me if I told you I always keep rewatching the Antman films as much as the Spider-Man and guardians of the galaxy films. MCU Antman is one of my sets of films to watch.
Thunderbolts is supposed to be a movie. With Disney owning Marvel, unfortunately there's a possibility Disney was afraid of the darker storylines involving Hank Pym. That's also unfortunate because Pym's life gets into mental health issues and would be seen as politically inclusive to put that under the microscope narratively. Video was wonderfully spot on. I do like some of the movies you mentioned that you disliked, but in a few ways I'm a little too easy to please as a film enthusiast. But, that's not true of all (I still can't believe how horrible the 4th Thor turned out, there was something of a passing watchability to Ragnarok (sorry for inventing words)).
I would congratulate whoever's responsible for writing 2015 Ant Man's changes regarding Hank Pym and his daughter if they fully committed to making Hank and Hope resemble Janet Van Dyne and her father. That was a good idea potentially in my eyes long term. Whose relationship with Scott Lang was meant to, initially, mirror Hank's with Janet and her dad. The scientist mentor of Hank Pym, funding his research prior to Hank discovering Pym particles. Then when months later aliens invaded, sniped her dad/his benefactor and friend, this led Hank to suit up and bring Janet along. Who wanted revenge personally. Hank provided Janet her superpowers to join him in fighting these aliens and given the Cold War era setting, someone could easily write in that exact origin story for Janet's Wasp. Rather than her arbitrarily deciding she wanted to join her husband when this choice indirectly ended in her sacrifice estranging her husband and daughter from one another. Janet Van Dyne was never given a legitimate, sensible, understandable reason for wanting her own suit. Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes implies the origin I summarized above occured sometime earlier while both Janet and Hope in the MCU's only apparent motivation for wearing their own suits is they want to inexplicably. Scott Lang's comic history overall is detached from Hank Pym and his family, with more connections to the Avengers, Fantastic Four, and Tony Stark than his predecessor's side of the Marvel Universe. Giving Scott Lang Hank Pym and his daughter for supporting characters worked in my opinion better than beginning with Hank and Janet aged around the Avenger's human character's ages. Unfortunately neither Janet Van Dyne nor Hope resemble Janet Van Dyne or Nadia Pym. Making both barely original and definitely redundant character archetypes already seen before in-universe (Jane Foster and Black Widow). If I were to add one reason for Kang the Conqueror being Ant Man 3's main villain, completely throwing out the Quantum Realm, I would reveal in the third Ant Man movie Kang the Conqueror fought the original Avengers lineup including Hank Pym's Ant Man and Janet Van Dyne's Wasp (whose ages were closer to their teammates). He lost, but was so infuriated that Ant Man and the Wasp were pivotal in defeating him that he calculated, rather than "burning them out of their timeline" how to prevent them from becoming Avengers by manipulating their entire ancestry so that they were born earlier. Doesn't take much to engineer events so that their ancestors were born just a smidge earlier. Of course that doesn't explain Bill Foster's age but I would speculate Kang the Conqueror might've instantly received respect if there was a plot twist that he's the reason Hank and Janet are older in this universe. Making their lives unrecognizable compared to who they were meant to be. Perhaps Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne were famous historical figures before Kang remade their existence largely uneventful or full of failure. Revealing Scott Lang and Hope Van Dyne Pym are the wrong Ant Man and Wasp, who could fail to defeat Kang the Conqueror in Ant Man 3/Avengers Kang Dynasty. Or Kang created a stronger Ant Man family that will annihilate him without the Avenger's assistance. I'm now imagining an Ant Man 3 opening scene where a self-referrial joke starts the film acknowledging how the last two Ant Man movies followed behind Avengers Age of Ultron and Avengers Infinity War. Where in one out of four Avengers movies only the fourth included founding members Ant Man and Wasp. Fading out from a black screen the Avengers theme vibrantly plays; awkwardly followed by Ant Man and the Wasp's theme. While Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye are fighting Kang the Conqueror in the background; together one step behind the camera follows Ant Man (Hank) and Wasp (Janet) who are trying to catch up while miniaturized. Eventually they do and the full team defeat Kang the Conqueror. Whose left in a similar position to Loki during the Avengers 2012 scene in which the team stands in front of him inside Avengers Tower. Except this time, these Avengers pose homaging the Avengers founding members statue where Iron Man, Captain America, and Thor stand side by side (Hawkeye targets Kang at a lower position. Black Widow stands between Captain America and Thor). Hulk crosses his arms behind Iron Man and Captain America. Behind them all Hank Pym is Giant Man, holding up the Wasp on his finger as if she were a butterfly resting on his finger. Hank and Janet exchange looks at each other without seeing that in-between them in this shot Kang the Conqueror is glaring directly at them both. The Avengers backs are turned and none of their faces are shown. Meaning a triangle between Kang the Conqueror in front and Hank/Janet in back shows who is important for this movie. Maybe Kang the Conqueror teleports away or is shrunk down to the Quantum Realm. Either way, he manages to erase this timeline and following that scene Scott Lang can walk around upbeat with a goofy smile believing he's an Avenger. Never knowing what could have been.
I heard that ultron is going to be brought back in maybe armor wars. He most definitely should be brought back atleast 1 more time. They did give him some respect in What if..... but too little too late
I know this is unpopular opinion but I love the women from Guradian of the Gaxley, they felt more fleshed out and human to me even thou their are aliens. Yeah, people hate Vol 2. which I never understood it is because it's to emotional and slow paced? Not stupid wacky bullshit enough? Hell, in endgame Nebula and Gamora was the highlight of the movie for me. I wanted Nebula to grab the gauntlet like she did in the comics it would of been fucking badass reference for us comic fans. Fuck Captain Marvel taking that moment away.
What I liked about this movie was the simplicity of the villain motives. Kang wants out the QR , . it tops Namors, Wanda’s, and God butchers unclear motives from previous films
Thank you, and the Ant Fam can't let him get out or risk ruining the universe. Very straight forward and simple plot which apparently most movie goers still could not follow.
@@Byronic19134 it is ironic cause the best villains have the simplest motives. Joker want to corrupt Gotham, Thanos wants half the universe. It’s that simple.
I'm sure comics fans of old actually like Ant-Man but no amount of Paul Rudd being shoved in our faces will make him the next big thing. The MCU come lately is playing out like a drunk person trying to convince their friends that they're sober when they have freshly pissed themselves.
Wow I can’t believe how much we’re consistantly on the same pages regarding these movies (and their comics counterparts, and how they’ve been transferred to the screen by totally hack writers, incl Whedon)
The writers wanted to have Ant-Man and the Wasp, in the Avengers but Ike Perlmutter said he couldn't imagine an Ant-Man movie making money. He also delayed Captain Marvel and Black Panther for sexist and racist reasons.
My brother and I had this very same complaint with how they executed Ant-Man in the first place for the MCU and what could have been with Ultron and how he could have been the next villain for the mcu after Thanos, before they used Ultron as a nothing villain and maybe Kang could have been a villain for the next phase after him like for after phase 5...But all the problems really line-up now with Ant Man and his gang being nothing but side characters and Wasted potential as well as Age of Ultron being a wast of everyone's time especially the people involved🙄
They fked up Age of Ultron because they failed to introduce Antman sooner. They failed Ant Man by making him Scott Lang instead of himself..... They failed Thor by having him get ELECTROCUTED BY A TASER RATED AT 150amps........ God of Thunder btw. They failed by not having an Official start up movies The Hulk, Black Widow, Ant Man....... Marvel does shxt out of order and end up shooting their load way too early and have no where to go. Shouldve just had Kang mess up the timelines causing a wipe/restart and start fresh with a new roster or a completely new team. They fked up the 10 rings by making it the leader of A.I.M. .....Even Captain America is a pointless movie. Why is the army needing super soldiers? Oh right, because of the Mutant outbreak and this was their way of fighting back, but Cap got frozen and the project continued being named "Weapon X Program" which lead us to X Wolverine and Deadpool XI............ they choose to instead tease Quicksilver in WandaVision and killin off Prof X in a instant lol
@@KnightEclipser Not really. I want a simple concept. They drew off the comics and simply focused on inclusion..over a good story. btw how is point out that "thor is immune to electricity" = wanting it to be 100% comic book accurate? Isnt that just wanting basic logic to work?
The commentator seems to be complaining that marvel make films that they think the general public will want to watch instead of films that copy comic books to the letter! I very much doubt the film makers were "to afraid" to do any of his suggestions. They were just clever enough to make what they knew would sell at the box office instead.
Age of Ultron is underrated and a fun movie. While we all wanted to see a saga of Ultron to call it a pathetic waste is just too toxic for me because it's not. It was a solid movie. Everybody is excited about the Thunderbolts, like this video is a waste because it;'s entirely too negative, like who is your audience even? A ton of us love the Ant Man series. Like are you trying to be funny? I don't get it. The reason Ant Man is not a bigger deal is not because of Marvel as much as it is people like you just throwing cool edgy cringe phrases hating on it.
thats the thing with the newer marvel movies and series ..- what could have being and what should have being " giving how much money was spent on it - .. could have being so much more- better.- deeper. yet here we are : / so many stories and characters wasted , done dirty and displayed badly " say M.o.d.o.k " - example * agreeing with you as well - got my sub * keep up the good work
What’s worse is a more compelling movie was already spelt out in a trailer.
As someone who hasn't watched the video nor film yet, I thought this was what the film was going to be. It appears its not the case. Real shame

The finale was apparently rewritten and reshot like a month before the movie came out. I truly wonder what the original ending would’ve been.
@Ladiesman217 Scott and Wasp were going to be trapped in the Quantumrealm and Kang would've successfully escaped out
The first Ant Man film felt more like a separate movie, with its own way of things. And pretty much all of your other reasons for Ant Man’s potential of being a more dynamic character is on point.

Mcu ant-man vs comics ant-man is the perfect representation of how the mcu prioritizes the powers rather than the character
Or the box office does because they gave QM a ton of money and people are hating because it's Ant Man

@@Leo_artisteroin fairness to the mcu, with how often comic writers obsessed over avengers 213, the characterization of pym has to be handled delicately and with liberties.

He's essentially a scientist forced to live as a superheros, he's would be the type who whould otherwise in the FF but he aslo loves Janet who loves the entire idea of being avenger.
@@cesar6447 true, Civil War felt like it was 2 different movies

I'm from the future, James Gunn is just as clueless as Zack Snyder.
The MCU might just be dead soon at the rate Disney Marvel is going, I wish they would make grounded films again like you said
If marvel did make Ultron a Endgame level threat then he would be similar to Sky Nets Terminator. But yeah they didn't use his full capacity.
That feels more like a Snyder film lol
The state of Hollywood at the moment compared to anime is a joke. Funny they try to focus so hard on writing strong female characters but fail at writing both strong female characters and male characters at the same time. Chainsaw Man, Attack on titan, Mob Psycho, Bocchi the rock! all know how to write strong female and male characters while telling a great story.
Anime is really just crushing Hollywood right now. And, I'm honestly fine with it. Hollywood's been a cesspole of garbage and degenerates for the past 30 years.
Mob Psycho is good but I don’t really think I can find a specific female character there I find particularly memorable.
The worst thing about Ant Man's daughter being replaced is that the actress from Endgame found out when they released the trailers
I wonder what Abby Ryder Forsten(who played Cassie in Ant Man and The Wasp)!thought of Cassie in this movie?
I agree 100% with Ultron, Hack Feige had no idea what to do with Hank Pym's son.

Bottom line is that whilst people think the MCU has gone to the gutter, all the problems we see now were seeded in the beginning, from three things:
1- Lack of respect for corners of the source material, and unwillingness to adapt it properly.
Well Said
I disagree with Star Lord, he is one of the most complex mcu characters and despite being diferent from the comics he is a well rounded and relatable protagonist.
This is coming from a guy who's not an avid comic book reader but has played a good amount of comic book games this was an excellent post.
If the MCU wanted to start with Hank Pym instead Scott Lang, I think Patrick Wilson would’ve been a great choice.
Mcu marvel is just stories mashed together while making the characters dumbed down and weaker
the sadest part of all is Paul Rudd has the acting chops to play a fully fleshed out Hank Pym and not just comic relief Scott Lang.
So we don’t get Hank Pym or Janet Van Dyne as the main Ant-Man and The Wasp but instead we get Ironheart, Agnus and Echo. Let’s that sink in…
Tbf they coulda done a whole Ultron Era/phase which is crazy to say about a villain who was boring for the time-being. It's more about the potential of the character and arcs cos if we just took everything from the MCU then Spider himself would just be a quirky memelord
Kinda crazy how shafted Ant-man got it never should’ve be Scott Lang it never should’ve been Paul Rudd he should’ve been there way earlier I see that now
all this video really does is remind me of how good EMH was

With Disney owning Marvel, unfortunately there's a possibility Disney was afraid of the darker storylines involving Hank Pym. That's also unfortunate because Pym's life gets into mental health issues and would be seen as politically inclusive to put that under the microscope narratively.

I literally just made the same comments to someone, but these bad writing decisions happen when the studios ignore the source material.
No, we should wait even more later for a much better version in a reboot.
Some people love Vol 2, is more like mixed reception.
As somebody who didn’t read the comics, age of Ultron was great for me. 😉
As somebody who read some comics, Age Of Ultron was great for me as well, this guy is just a loser mad at life.
@@Byronic19134 lmao, does people criticizing the MCU hurt your feelings this much?
@@Byronic19134
You really can't tell me that you liked ultron being the "son" of Stark instead of Pym.
I think Ultron will come back at some point. He always does I’m the cartoons and comics. Maybe for the new Avengers team.
6:03 Bro you think my man Loki and Thanos are forgettable villains? wtf
I believe it's only them in certain movies. He said he liked both in Avengers and Infinity War respectively.
I'm sure comics fans of old actually like Ant-Man but no amount of Paul Rudd being shoved in our faces will make him the next big thing. The MCU come lately is playing out like a drunk person trying to convince their friends that they're sober when they have freshly pissed themselves.
You know... out of all reviewers out there, you're the only one who actually references the classic comics.
Most classic comics are shit, and just unreadable
@@lulu_TheWitchBoy
Not Really.
"What cha gonna do brother, when quantumania runs wild on you?" 💪🏻💪🏻
Nice touch with “The ants are marching” song in the background
Whoa. You called it the Thunderbolts SHOW that would be coming? No way. I missed it was originally a show. Holy Lordy. The MCU is so sad.
Agree.
The echoey fart on Brie Larson had me snickering
Agreed. They also fked up the introduction of the X-Men by making Mz Marvel a mutant, which was a terrible show.
You just want everything to be 100% comic accurate.
@@KnightEclipser Not really. I want a simple concept. They drew off the comics and simply focused on inclusion..over a good story. btw how is point out that "thor is immune to electricity" = wanting it to be 100% comic book accurate? Isnt that just wanting basic logic to work?
They didn't have the rights of the Xmen back in 2011
Love from Namibia
Nobody cares about Thunderbolts. The only movies that got hype are GOTG 3 Deadpool 3 Avengers 5 Spiderman 4 ect..
im starting to think the mcu isnt a masterfully carefully and planned ahead intricate story I thought it was
thats the thing with the newer marvel movies and series ..-
what could have being and what should have being " giving how much money was spent on it - ..
could have being so much more- better.- deeper. yet here we are : /
so many stories and characters wasted , done dirty and displayed badly " say M.o.d.o.k " - example
